Choosing the right publisher mattered just as much as writing the right book. I’m incredibly proud to share that The Bias Advantage is being published by Page Two. When you start looking for a publisher, many of the early conversations revolve around the same questions: What’s your platform? How large is your social following? What does your email list look like? Those are fair business questions. Publishing is a business. But Page Two did something different. They read the manuscript. Not just the proposal. And almost immediately, they understood what I was trying to do and why I felt so strongly that this book needed to exist. They did not see The Bias Advantage as another book about AI, or as a collection of leadership advice designed to fit the conversation of the moment. They understood that it was really a book about the future of leadership and the importance of having the right leaders shepherding the future of AI. They understood the central argument: that many of the qualities organizations have historically dismissed, penalized, or failed to recognize may become the very qualities leaders need most in an AI-driven world. More importantly, they connected with the mission behind it. Writing a book is an intensely personal process. You spend years wrestling with ideas, questioning your assumptions, scrapping chapters, and trying to articulate something you can feel clearly before you can always explain it clearly. When a team reads your work and says, “We understand what you are trying to say, we believe it matters, and we want to help you say it even better,” it changes everything. What stood out about Page Two was that they do not see a book as the finish line. They see it as the beginning of a much larger conversation. From day one, they challenged me to sharpen my ideas, not dilute them. They pushed me to write the book only I could write, rather than something designed to fit neatly into a category or chase a temporary market trend. Every editor, designer, marketer, and strategist I have worked with has cared as deeply about the ideas and the purpose of the book as they have about the finished product. Authors often say that finding the right publisher feels a lot like finding the right co-founder. I finally understand why. That wasn't exactly the reaction I expected. 😂 My dad is many things. Introverted is not one of them. But as we talked, I realized he wasn't identifying with introversion itself. He was identifying with the leadership lessons. Because the truth is: You don't have to be introverted to benefit from learning how to lead with quiet confidence. And you don't have to be extroverted to make a meaningful impact. The best leaders aren't successful because they fit a personality stereotype. They're successful because they know how to leverage who they already are. My dad was the first person to receive a printed copy of my book. For someone who rarely picks up leadership books, he's been surprisingly invested in every chapter. She turned the energy of a music festival into meaningful support for women and girls, bringing together an electric all-women lineup and 45,000 fans to raise millions for organizations doing vital work. It’s the kind of leadership that gives me so much hope for the future, and it’s why I wanted to contribute $10 million through Pivotal, doubling the amount the amazing Daisy Chain community already raised. Earlier mornings. More activities. And somehow, you’re expected to make the transition look effortless while still showing up fully at work. My two daughters are now grown, and it’s been a long while since I’ve had to worry about the back-to-school grind, but I do remember the process of reentry being a challenging time as a working mom. I read this practical and comical piece from Late Night with Seth Myers writer Jenny Hagel in People magazine this week, and I thought I’d share for those who might need a little support on how to make this transition a bit easier. I also loved what she said: “Starting a new school year is the kid equivalent of an adult starting a new job.” Think about that. A new boss. New routines. New expectations. New people. A completely different rhythm to your day. That’s a lot of change for a child and, honestly, for the parents supporting them through it. Hagel suggests giving kids some space to decompress during those first few weeks and I think there’s a lesson in that for all of us. As leaders, we should remember that our employees may be navigating a major transition at home right now, too. And as working parents, that means you should try and give yourself that same grace. You don’t have to have the perfect morning routine. You don’t have to get every lunch packed flawlessly. You don’t have to feel like you’re nailing both work and home every single day. Sometimes a successful school year, and a successful workday, starts with simply recognizing that transitions can take a bit of time. I’m wishing all the parents, caregivers, teachers, and kids out there a great start to the school year. A year ago, I came to Take The Lead Women’s Power Up Conference as an attendee. This week, I came back as a 2026 Power Tool Champion, received the #8 Employ Every Medium: The Influencer award, spoke on a panel, sat in rooms with women and leaders I deeply respect, listened to Margaret Atwood talk about voice and power, and had conversation after conversation that I know I’ll still be thinking about long after I get home. There is SO much I want to share, and I will. I have videos, stories, behind-the-scenes moments, things I learned, things that challenged me, and a few moments where I had to look around and think, how the hell did I get here? But before I turn any of it into a lesson or a piece of content, I really just want to say thank you. Thank you to Gloria Feldt for the work you’ve done for decades to help women understand and use the power they already have, and for creating something that brought leaders together around that mission this week. Thank you to Felicia Renea for the tremendous amount of heart and intention you put into the Power Tool Champions experience. Being recognized alongside 8 women with such wildly different stories, careers and ways of creating change was incredibly special. I mean...come on. What made this week so meaningful wasn’t 1 award, 1 stage or 1 conversation. It was being surrounded by people who care deeply about what they’re building, who they’re becoming and what they’re making possible for the people coming behind them. It was also about who showed up for me too, my Mom and Dad, my StandOut Authority team including patty toms and my husband Joshua B. Lee , and 2 of my dear friends from different chapters of my life Elizabeth Sickler and Julie Reisler, MA, ACC, NB-HWC . That feels especially personal because my week in D.C. isn’t quite over. I’m still here as the FEMME Art Fair continues, now experiencing this next part through my role on the Board of Directors for Our Daughters' Futures Fund, and thinking about my own daughters and the future we’re creating for women and girls. So, before I overthink this and turn it into 17 different posts, I just want to sit in the gratitude for a minute. Thank you to everyone who made this week what it was, I’m leaving with a full heart and A LOT to say. 💜 More soon.

Grateful to Sanjay Poonen, CEO of Cohesity, for sharing his wisdom on the podcast. In this clip, Sanjay talks about taking the long view of things. As I coach and consult with executives on navigating transformational challenges, I often see the desire to push projects through. The belief seems to be that getting a project to Go Live is the win. It's not. That's short-term and lower-level thinking. Shifting your thinking to a higher level and to a long-term view is when you become known as a strategic visionary. In action, that looks like you seeing your project in light of the company's purpose and strategy. And what is the company's purpose and strategy? It's to... 1. Exist (for a specific reason) = Purpose 2. Do existential activities successfully (so you continue to exist) = Strategy The long-term, higher-level view of your project looks like you understanding: 1. Why your company exists 2. Why your project is existential to that existence ...and aligning ABB (Above, Beside, and Below). Then your project will not only get to Go Live, it will become adopted, be sustained, and you will be seen as future CEO material.
