Yesterday was one of those moments. I had the honor of returning to the West LA campus of Pepperdine Graziadio Business School, not only as a two-time alumna, but now as a doctoral student who serves on the Pepperdine Graziadio Women's Business Association and to also serve on this alumni panel welcoming our newest students. Pepperdine University has been part of so many chapters of my life. I came here as a young woman still discovering who I was. I returned for my MBA with bigger dreams and a growing understanding of the kind of leader I wanted to become. & now, years later, I am back pursuing my doctorate…bringing with me a career in healthcare leadership, the businesses I have built, the lessons from seasons I never expected, and a faith that has become the foundation beneath all of it. To be able to share even a small piece of that journey with the next generation of Graziadio students was incredibly special. & their energy was electric. What made the evening even more meaningful was being able to show up as my whole self: a woman of faith, healthcare leader, entrepreneur, scholar-practitioner, wife, neurodivergent mama, and someone who is still learning, stretching, and becoming. Pepperdine has never simply been a place where I earned degrees. It has been a place where I have been challenged to think bigger, lead differently, and continue discovering how my faith, purpose, leadership, and work can exist together. I was honored to moderate a phenomenal panel with City Manager Joe Irvin, ICMA-CM, Yolanda Bundy, Maryam Zar, and Don Schmitz. The room was packed and the Q&A truly interactive. Dr. Gil Keinan liked thisDr. Gil Keinan liked thisThe Small Business Development Corporation of Orange County (SBDC-OC) has achieved record-setting growth for the third consecutive year, reinforcing its role as one of the state's leading economic development organizations. For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026, SBDC-OC administered $147.3 million in state of California loan guarantees, representing a 43% increase over the prior fiscal year. Those guarantees supported $204.8 million in total small business lending, a 49% increase from fiscal year 2024–25. In addition, the fiscal year's activities saw the creation of 768 new jobs, a 169% increase. The California State Loan Guarantee Program (SLGP) was established in 1968 to create jobs and opportunities for small businesses, targeting those owned by minorities, women, and the disabled. The Program is unrelated to any federal Small Business Administration (SBA) guarantee program. SBDC-OC issues loan guarantees on behalf of the State of California. Guarantees are backed directly by a state trust fund which can be leveraged up to five times. The Corporation may issue a Loan Guarantee regardless of the geographical location of the business as long as loan proceeds are utilized to support business operations primarily domiciled in California. -

FUSE works with cities and counties across a range of issues, including health, public safety, economic and workforce development, climate change, equity, and education.
To create high-quality jobs for residents, San Bernardino County is working to promote its Opportunity Zones, economically distressed communities that can potentially benefit from federal tax incentives aimed at encouraging investment and economic development. The county is partnering with FUSE executive fellow Gil Keinan, who is overseeing Opportunity Zone development, including the creation of an Investment Prospectus that outlines a vision for sustainable, equitable, and inclusive investments.
