We got a *fascinating* tour of the Titleist ball factory in Acushnet, which employs 500 highly skilled professionals producing 300,000 golf balls every day. It was so cool to see all of the proprietary IP the company has invented to create the most-used golf ball in the game. Seeing all that machinery also reminded me how much bigger technology is than software! Then we moved over to the Titleist Performance Center, a state of the art facility a few miles away that generously hosted our jam-packed meeting as part of our new partnership with the Acushnet Company. We awarded a record 535 recipients with scholarships in 2025 and applications are up more than 50% since 2020. As we expand to support trade schools and as university tuition costs continue to rise, Ouimet's mission and work are more important than ever. More honored and energized than ever to be part of the Fund and all we have ahead. Oh, and happy Masters Weekend to those who celebrate! She has interviewed Sam Altman, Daniela Amodei, the CEOs reshaping this economy, so when she asked me at Semafor World Economy in DC this week whether AI is actually creating value or just a magic wand businesses are waving around, I took it seriously. For most companies right now? It's the wand. For Plume, it's our core operating layer. And Rebecca found the perfect way to show why that matters. Nobody in the room expected her to open with Justin Bieber at COACHELLA. His video buffered for a few seconds, he blamed the Wi-Fi, and suddenly the whole internet had an opinion about packet loss. It's funny. But it's also exactly the point. People don't separate the app, the device, the network, and the AI layer. They just expect the experience to work. That's the bar now. Here's what Plume's data actually proves: 1. AI is only as good as the environment it operates in. The hardest problem isn't generating an answer. It's operating in reality. We looked at devices connecting to home networks and more than 60% were running outdated technology. A Wi-Fi 7 phone does not mean a Wi-Fi 7 home. Plume runs across 400+ customers, 50M homes, and 500M connected devices. That scale makes the orchestration challenge real and invisible to almost everyone until something breaks. 2. The market is shifting from price and speed to confidence and ease. More than half of households had at least one internet issue in 2025. When our YouTube blocking feature went down for a few hours, our support lines lit up immediately. Nobody knew how many parents were relying on it until it disappeared. That's what confidence looks like. Invisible until it's gone. Amazon and STARLINK aren't just adding competition. They're raising the bar on how effortless that should feel. Plume is leading that charge, and we're putting ISPs ahead of it. 3. The breakthrough isn't insight. It's turning insight into action. For years we were presenting our customers with extraordinary intelligence. But it was still on them to interpret it and act. That's not good enough anymore. That's why we acquired Sweepr Technologies, a company out of Dublin that had signaled how to solve this exact problem. They brought the AI-native action layer to match our decade-plus of intelligence and data expertise. Build vs. buy? When speed is everything, you buy. Rebecca, thank you. I love this so much. This is why MIT grads are so hardcore. She was talking about how MIT sustains excellence after 150+ years. And it applies to founders and CEOs who are trying to scale, more than ever. The thing is, the bar doesn't drop all at once. It drops one hire at a time, one exception at a time. It's better to have nobody than to let the standard slip even once. Every hire, every door, every message has to carry the same signal. That's how MIT maintains it's intensity.....just look at the list of grads who are killing it in tech right now like Vinod Khosla Greg Brockman Drew Houston Tarek Mansour Michael T. Chase Lochmiller. I’ve watched this play out with the companies I work with. They hit 150 employees, the founder stops interviewing everyone, and by 500 they're asking what happened to the culture. Sally's answer: it's a lot easier to stop that slide than to recover from it. The fix is relentless consistency, clarity, and the willingness to say no far more often than you say yes.
