Krishna K. Gupta shared thisThanks John Werner for writing a piece in Forbes on our panel discussing investing in AI companies. Krishna K. Gupta reposted thisKrishna K. Gupta reposted thisToday, I'm excited to share that Avoca has raised over $125M across Seed to Series B at a $1B valuation, backed by Kleiner Perkins, Meritech, General Catalyst, Amplify, and other top Silicon Valley investors to build AI agents for the services economy. See our comments for the Fortune exclusive and our blog post. Having grown up answering phone calls as my part-time job in Michigan, it was very clear to me that AI was going to have an outsized impact on the services world. That experience led me to founding Avoca with my brilliant cofounder, Tyson Chen with one mission: build AI for the trillion-dollar services industry. The services economy never got its generation-defining software company. There was no Salesforce, no Github, no Databricks. And for good reason. Traditional software never provided enough value for a 30-person HVAC business that depends on a call center, a marketing agency, a team of great techs. The economics just didn't work. AI changes the math. For the first time, every contractor in America can have a concierge-grade revenue operation: every call answered, every customer followed up with, every marketing dollar tracked from ad click to dispatched job. We believe the most value will accrue at the application layer, where the real work happens. While frontier labs have cracked into the app layer for data-heavy use cases like coding, the battle for complex, workflow-driven industries has yet to be won. This is the first chapter of a generational company. The reason we are winning is because we have the best product and a world-class team which includes multiple former YC founders and engineers from MIT, Stanford, Google, Meta, and many other top institutions. If this resonates, come build with us. We're hiring across all roles. I’m deeply grateful to our customers for betting on us, and to our investors and partners for backing the vision from day one. Thank you to our investors for your support: Leigh Marie Braswell from Kleiner Perkins Vedant Suri and Hemant Taneja from General Catalyst Alex C. from Meritech Capital Dalton Caldwell and Diana Hu from Y Combinator Mike Dauber and Grace Ge from Amplify Partners Jishnu B. and Arjun Gandhi from Nexus Venture Partners Jack Altman from Alt Capital Gregory R. from BoxGroup And many other investors/friends including: Krishna (REMUS Capital), Ansaf (Latitude Capital), Nakul (Audacious Ventures), Ian and Andy(TCP), Cem and Burak (Formus Capital), Todd Breeden (Jefferies), Manraj (Vicus Ventures), Charley and friends (Pathlight Ventures), and helpful friends such as Sudhanshu Mishra

Krishna K. Gupta reposted thisKrishna K. Gupta reposted thisA chatbot is ready to take your order for a Mint Oreo Blizzard with cheesecake pieces and caramel topping. 🔗 https://on.wsj.com/4exn3Ps Dairy Queen began a test with technology company Presto to bring a drive-through chatbot to a handful of its U.S. stores last year. This week, the restaurant chain is expanding the test to several dozen franchised locations out of its 3,000 U.S. and Canadian drive-throughs. The chain wants the bots to help speed up drive-through service times and encourage customers to add more food to their orders. During the initial test, Kevin Baartman, the company’s executive vice president of information technology, said the bots improved customer-satisfaction scores by double-digit percentages. The chatbots always read back orders to customers, whereas employees sometimes skipped the step. The order-taking bots are accurate about 90% of the time, according to Presto. Humans’ accuracy rate is much lower, when factoring in guest greetings, delivering the right upsell and entering the correct order, the company said. Bringing chatbots to the drive-through has been an early step in restaurants tinkering with artificial intelligence, and it has had mixed results for customers and brands.

Our high-performing, multispecialty clinical research network spans 100+ research sites across North America, Europe, India, and Australia embedded directly into clinical care. Unlike traditional networks, we place site success at the center of trial execution by combining centralized operations, expert staffing, proprietary AI, and deep clinical expertise to drive reliable results for sponsors and CROs. Our trial performance speaks for itself: 2x faster site activation, up to 3 months shorter startup timelines, and 3x higher patient enrollment rates compared to industry benchmarks. The new funding will support expansion into new therapeutic areas beyond GI, hepatology, obesity, cardiology and deepen geographical growth. Jonathan Ng, Founder and CEO, shared: “Every delay in a clinical trial is a delay for patients whose outcomes depend on faster access to innovation. By keeping our physician partners and their patients at the center of our model, we’ve built a system that delivers high-performance site execution at scale. We are excited to bring greater scale to our model in a variety of new therapeutic areas together.” As part of the financing, Ajay Agrawal, Co-Founder and Partner at Intrepid Growth Partners, will join Iterative Health's Board of Directors. Anthony Philippakis, General Partner at GV (Google Ventures), will join as a board observer. POM Health Systems • 4K followers
Tarek Mouhieddine M.D. and I are excited to announce that POM Health is coming out of stealth today and opening a limited beta to early customers. We were founded with a simple mission of catching as many cancers as possible as early as possible and upgrading a cancer screening paradigm that too often catches disease late. In the U.S., screening catches just ~14% of cancer cases, and around half of diagnoses are made at Stage III+. Despite having world-class detection technologies, we routinely screen for just 5 out of 200+ cancer types, often at multi-year intervals between screens, and most people won’t interact with an oncologist until there’s already a high suspicion of cancer. The result: 625k+ deaths from cancer annually in the US, 70% of which are in cancers without guideline-recommended screening, and far too many people believe their annual physical is an effective warning system. Elite cancer centers around the world (like where Tarek practices) have made significant advances in cancer detection and interception that have not yet translated to our primary care and insurance-driven screening system. With AI, we can now bring these advances to millions. Through POM Health, we offer access to more comprehensive cancer screening. Screening is led by world class oncologists, powered by AI, and accessible via telehealth, with one-time and annual subscription offerings. POM's cancer screens use multiple detection modalities (including sample-based biomarkers, MCED, imaging, and genetics) to provide broad coverage across 90%+ of cancers, with overlapping coverage for 80%+. When a cancer signal is detected, your POM oncologist drives the next step quickly. The lifetime risk of acquiring cancer stands at 39% in the US and early onset cancers have doubled since 1990. Cancer isn't a rare disease and we believe people should have an option to mitigate their cancer risk. Now serving beta test users in: MA, NY, and FL (CA soon, and waitlist open for all other states) Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e9qcaru9 Questions: lucas@pomhealth.xyz or tarek@pomhealth.xyz (POM = Peace of Mind, which everyone deserves when it comes to cancer) Thanks also to our first investor Leo Korsunsky!

M7 Health nabs $10M to modernize nurse staffing and scheduling https://lnkd.in/er7sn-XR In 2022, Borkenstein and her Harvard Business School classmate Eric Gruskin launched M7 Health (M7 was the name of the bone marrow transplant unit where she previously worked) to modernize nurse workforce management. M7 Health was built "by nurses, for nurses," Borkenstein insists. "'We are nurse-first, nurse-DNA and nurse-led," she said during an interview to offer a first look at the series A funding round. "A quarter of our employees here at M7 are nurses. We know that you could look at staffing and scheduling like a math problem, but if you miss the human element of this, and you don't try to quantify staff preference and staff sentiment and bake that into this complex problem, then you will never succeed," she said. "Every single product feature we build, we ask ourselves two questions. One is, 'How does this impact the nurse experience?' And two is, 'How does this impact the bottom line for health systems?'"

For our latest Tip of the Spear interview, we sat down with Nina Williams, Associate Director at Mount Sinai Ventures, whose career sits at the intersection of clinical operations and strategic investing. A few insights that stood out: 〜 Health systems can’t build everything. Founders need a clear answer to a simple question: Why you over an internal build? Integration into existing workflows and a solution that solves an enterprise wide pain point are critical. 〜 Co-investment reduces risk. Strategics move faster when like-minded institutions can help de-risk and validate a solution. 〜 Consumer-driven care is no longer a niche. Patients want autonomy: routing prescriptions, choosing delivery pathways, and improving healthspan (not just increasing lifespan). 〜 Founder readiness matters. Nina looks for grit, consistency, and flexibility. If a solution makes it to Investment Committee, the deal lead has to believe in the workflow just as much as the founder does, because the impact on patients and employees is very real. 〜 Finally, her best piece of career advice. Be authentic with your storytelling, and be proud of your story. Thank you, Nina, for sharing your perspective with the Artemis community! You can read the full interview at the link in the comments.

Excited to share that Bessemer Venture Partners has led Sukino Continuum Care’s $31M Series B, backing a category that India’s healthcare system has quietly ignored for far too long: long-term recovery and rehabilitation. I come from a family of doctors, and I’ve grown up watching how stretched our healthcare system can be, especially for patients who survive the acute phase of an illness, only to be left on their own for recovery. Over the last few years, that conviction has only strengthened: India doesn’t just need more hospitals, it needs a new layer of care focused on getting people back to living. The country accounts for ~10% of global stroke cases, and millions of patients each year need 6-8 weeks of physical, speech, occupational, and psychological therapy after events like stroke, cancer, or major orthopedic surgery. Yet the healthcare infrastructure is not optimized for slow, structured work of recovery. Families are left to bridge that gap on their own. That’s what Sukino bridges. I first met Rajinish M. back in 2017, and what stood out even then was the clarity of the problem he and Shalini Menon were trying to solve: building dedicated, protocol-driven recovery centers for patients who need weeks, not days, of care. Today, Sukino operates 850+ beds across 11 centers in Bangalore, Kochi, and Coimbatore, delivering multidisciplinary rehab for stroke, neuro, oncology, and ortho patients. Two powerful tailwinds are now making this model work at scale: • Insurance is finally starting to cover 60–90 days of structured rehab, making quality recovery affordable. • Families are becoming more open to institutional recovery, recognizing that specialized environments lead to better outcomes. At Bessemer, we believe organized, single-specialty healthcare platforms will be the next big unlock for India, and Sukino is building exactly that for long-term care. Grateful to partner with Rajinish, Shalini, and the Sukino team alongside Vishal Gupta as they build the backbone of India’s continuum care ecosystem. https://lnkd.in/gvFAzEmZ CC: Vishal Gupta, Nithin Kaimal, Karan Pahwa, Jesika Babel, Priya Kale, Deepa Papanna, Vivek Iyer, Arnav Patni

Partnerships help offload costs, accelerate growth and, if aligned well, can increase speed to market (among many other benefits). I’d like to see women’s sports mirror what women’s health has figured out - consider commercial partnerships (not just M&A/investments) as a way to supercharge growth across the sector/ecosystem. I talk more about buy/build/partner decision making here: https://lnkd.in/gFxZQZHT
