Morgan DeBaun shared thisI remember the first day of AFROTECH in 2016 like it was yesterday! My team staffed the badge tables and staggered the schedule so we could run between our two stages. AfroTech turns ten this year, which means ten years of people who decided to come together to influence, build, and innovate together. Maybe you came to AfroTech and got a life-changing job offer. Maybe you came and were inspired to write your first angel check. Or maybe you came and met your future husband! As the AI revolution shifts the priorities of many of the companies we traditionally work with, I want to give 100 sponsored AfroTech Insider memberships in order to get those who have been loyal to the AfroTech community to conference this year. We’ve been working hard to bring new partners with growing, stable enterprises in energy, medtech and gov tech to conference who are looking to make experienced hires. Two requirements. 1) You’ve been to an AfroTech Conference before (at least once). 2) You were laid off, or role was restructured out in the last nine months. Afrotech Insider is our official membership program that includes professional coaching, AI technical trainings, local networking opportunities and more. Apply here: https://lnkd.in/gxbG569G And if this isn't for you, send it to someone who needs it. P.S. If you’d like to support by sending someone in the AfroTech community to conference, you can sponsor an attendee here: https://lnkd.in/g8Ppr4kX

Morgan DeBaun reposted thisI have been privately advising hundreds of entrepreneurs a year in my community WorkSmart. When someone joins my community, I ask one question. What is the one task you want off your plate? Ironically, the answers almost never point at the market or the money. They point at the founder. "I feel like I still have to do everything in the business." "I know I should build more ai systems or hire, but I am the bottleneck." "I have several ventures, I'm juggling and making money from but i dont know where to focus to get to the next level. " I've noticed that being the bottleneck feels like a work ethic problem, so most of us respond by working more hours. But thats really the wrong fix, you built a company where every decision routes through one person, and a company can be rebuilt. That is what The WorkSmart Community is for. Morgan DeBaun liked thisMorgan DeBaun liked thisAfter 5.5 years, my chapter at Blavity Inc. has come to an end. I leave incredibly grateful for the people, relationships, and experiences that shaped me. Blavity taught me how to build partnerships, execute at a high level, and that innovation is never optional. What's next? I’m excited to join Genius as Account Director, Brand Partnerships, working alongside Sherdale Hendrickson. What stands out to me about Genius is that it’s bigger than music. It’s about the stories behind the songs, the artists shaping what’s next, and the fans who give culture meaning. I’m looking forward to helping brands find authentic ways to be part of those conversations. If music and culture are part of what you're building, let's build something together. Thank you, Blavity. Thank you, Genius.

Morgan DeBaun liked thisMorgan DeBaun liked thisWhen we talk about the pioneers shaping the future of technology with humanity, integrity, and purpose, Dr. Marian Croak is always at the top of the list. I am immensely proud to celebrate Marian’s feature on the cover of the #TIME100AI list recognizing her among the most influential global leaders in artificial intelligence. This milestone arrives right on the heels of an unforgettable experience at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival (MVAAFF). This year we brought together nearly 250 creators, leaders, and fellow Googlers for a special screening of The Art of Possible, followed by a fireside conversation with Marian, director Gary Williams Jr, and myself. From deep reflections on Marian’s legendary career to exploring the future of creativity and technology, this activation captured something truly special: the intersection of world class AI leadership, authentic storytelling, and community. Marian continues to remind us that technological progress is at its best when grounded in human dignity and collective empowerment. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Marian Croak on this well deserved honor! https://lnkd.in/emCjnTP4

Morgan DeBaun liked thisMorgan DeBaun liked thisLast year was my first AFROTECH — and I wasn't even there as an attendee. I was working the conference, making sure our sponsors had what they needed, running around solving problems behind the scenes... and I STILL walked away changed. Even in the middle of the hustle, I'd catch these moments — a stranger becoming a friend in a hallway conversation or someone getting a job lead on the spot. There's a magic at conference that gets you even when you're technically "on the clock." So when I heard my CEO, Morgan DeBaun was giving away 100 sponsored AfroTech Insider memberships this year, I had to share it. Here's the deal: as AI shakes up the priorities at a lot of the companies we've traditionally worked with, we want to make sure the people who've been loyal to this community — especially the ones feeling that shakeup firsthand — still get to be in the room this year. Two requirements: 1️⃣ You've attended an AfroTech Conference before (at least once) 2️⃣ You were laid off or your role was restructured out in the last 9 months AfroTech Insider is the official membership program — professional coaching, AI technical trainings, local networking, and more, all included. Apply here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gWFiGS8w If this isn't you, send it to someone who needs it. Seriously — tag them, DM them, whatever it takes. If you want to help send someone from our community to conference? You can sponsor an attendee here 👉 https://lnkd.in/g8Ppr4kX See y'all in H-Town — I'll be the one running around with a clipboard 🚀

What’s really stopping early-stage startups from building the next big app? It’s rarely tech. It’s rarely funding. It’s building before validating. As Vizio Ventures, we see this pattern often: Strong teams move fast into development, without confirming urgency, clarity, and real market pull. Before writing a single line of code, we validate three things: • Is the pain urgent? • Is the target persona clearly defined? • Is there real external proof of demand? Because building isn’t the objective. Validation and scalable growth are. If you have a new product idea and want to pressure-test it before investing time and budget let us help you through! 👉🏼 https://lnkd.in/dzpcyFiT

🚨This week on The Dart Board, meet Mike Knoop, co-founder of Zapier, ARC Prize Foundation, and the newly announced Ndea AI Lab. In this conversation, we explore Mike’s transition from scaling Zapier into a generational company to co-founding an AI research lab focused on rethinking the path to artificial general intelligence. We discuss why pure deep learning may be a dead end for AGI, how ARC has become one of the most important unsolved benchmarks in AI, and why combining program synthesis with neural networks could unlock a new era of innovation. We also talk about leadership, thinking bigger, adaptation through technological shifts, and what it would mean to truly maximize the rate of human progress. 🎧 Links to listen... Proactive healthcare promises better outcomes. But what if most families can't afford it? That's the question I left last week's Atlanta Ventures Healthcare Meetup wrestling with, after Chris Spears from OrderlyMeds said: "The future of healthcare is proactive (but also cash pay).” It made me think about our current mental healthcare model for parents …wait until crisis, then intervene. That's not prevention, that's damage control. If the future really is proactive, here's my question: proactive for whom? Because right now, preventative mental health support is mostly available to parents who can afford to pay out of pocket. At Belay Guidance, we're building a different model, one where science-backed, personalized parenting support is accessible BEFORE crisis hits, and priced so that no parent or child is left behind. 💙 Parents are the most powerful catalysts in a child's life, (all parents). 😉 Not just those with unlimited resources. For other healthcare founders wrestling with this, how are you thinking about the intersection of proactive care and accessibility? (S/O to Cindy Abel, fellow healthcare founder and wonderful seat mate during the event.)

A nice moment for our team: pWin.ai was included in the Washington Business Journal’s “Startups to Watch in 2026.” https://lnkd.in/eNPEQbrd What we’re building is simple to say and hard to do: help government contractors systematically reuse proven, contract-winning knowledge to generate full proposal drafts — often hundreds of pages — in hours, not weeks, in a single, consistent voice grounded in Shipley best practices. We never want to pretend that “software wins proposals.” Customers win because of their solutions, relationships, and teams. We’re simply trying to give them time back — while raising the quality bar at the same time. Grateful for the recognition — and even more grateful for the people doing the real proposal work every day. #apmp

Seth Levine nailed it! The concentration problem isn't just a GP pain point... it's choking innovation. When capital pools around the same 20 funds, emerging managers and founders get shut out. Love that he's using his platform to call this out. Foundry has backed 50+ emerging managers. That's the diversification the ecosystem needs. This is exactly why Carta exists — making capital allocation visible and accessible. Capital Evolution hits at exactly the right moment. Thanks for having us Daniel Dart. Team Carta loves the community of FUTURE TITANS you have built 🚀
