Stewart Alsop shared thisOur portfolio company, RunSafe Security Inc. is deep into the weeds on Anthropic's Mythos model, but who better to know than a company that knows how to counter exploits in memory.Stewart Alsop shared thisIn dozens of conversations with customers, prospects, and partners last week, the Anthropic headline showing #Mythos can identify vulns and write exploits faster than we can patch rises to the top of a list of major threats. The concern stems from the continued acceleration in the rate at which AI can exploit code. As Sergej Epp shared, the ZeroDayClock which tracks trend data going back years, we now face two issues: (1) over 70% of vulns are exploited long before a patch is available; and (2) the time required to develop an exploit for a new vuln has decreased from years to hours. In short, AI has achieved breakaway exploit speed and teams expect an exponential increase in vulnerabilities. Now, I am not the only one looking to change how security is done in the AI-driven world: - Jen Easterly has been sounding the AI alarm for quite some time, especially as it pertains to critical infrastructure (and beyond). She and others have detailed how to prepare defenses in light of AI by offering a succinct guide called, “Building a ‘Mythos-ready’ Security Program." - Rob Joyce has been warning about AI writing exploits every waking hour for months. - Chainguard's Dan Lorenc and RAPIDFORT's Mehran Farimani both lead the charge on 0 CVEs in open source software. This is a much-needed service in today's complex software supply chain, helping organizations stay ahead of the curve. - Galina Antova founded Kai to revamp the security stack and help teams build safer code. - Dr. Bilyana Lilly shapes global resilience by engaging organizations around the world in her role at Accenture. I once believed the only person on the planet who can move faster than AI is my good friend, Nicolas M. Chaillan. But even he cannot keep up with these latest models and their ability to identify vulns and write exploits fast. So there has to be a better way. At RunSafe Security Inc., our current data suggests about 2/3s of vulnerabilities can be rendered inert by adding memory safety protections to your runtime workloads even without rewriting a single line of code. Imagine, before you even deploy AI in your defensive posture, you solved 2/3s of the runaway problem. That is a powerful step forward - and I encourage everybody now is the time to take this step before the rise in vulns arrives. Let's work together so society can operate without disruption, the economy can thrive despite the world's digital challenges, and the world stays as safe as possible from cyber exploitation.

Stewart Alsop shared thisI always love being in business with Vince Kadlubek. Not to mention eating Chef Fernando’s food at Escondido!Stewart Alsop shared thisIt’s so wonderful to walk into the restaurant I dreamed up in Santa Fe, NM and feel it so alive with joy, warmth, and spirit. Sitting back and just looking out at packed restaurant this weekend brought a deep sense of accomplishment that words are hard to describe. Escondido has been such a special project for me. It’s helped to focus my whole purpose for effort; bringing people together, facilitating specific frequencies of human experience from a place of love in hopes of elevating the character of a city that I cherish. This is core. Chef and majority owner, Fernando Ruiz, has knocked it out of the park. The food is incredible, the feeling of community inside the restaurant, the high-level quality and laid back energy is a testament to his character. And add to it, his commitment to building a profound felon reentry program is that special ingredient that makes the whole experience so fulfilling. Chef Ruiz goes into the prison system, teaches culinary skills to innmates, continues the mentorship once they are released, and then Escondido becomes an entry job to build their resume and get them on their feet. He’s a 3-Time Food Network champion and The James Beard Foundation semi-finalist thanks to his incredible culinary skills. But he’s a hero to our community in Santa Fe thanks to his heart. Come visit us this summer or fall! The menu kicks ass. And the restaurant is 1/4 mile from Meow Wolf. ❤️ Thank you to all of the investors who made this dream possible, especially founding member Stewart Alsop. And thank you to all the patrons who have brought such love and support over the last couple of years.

Stewart Alsop shared thisWhat is the key to a well-run company? Strategy. Anthropic looks like it is trouncing AI with less cash because it is focused on a strategy. OpenAI, Meta and Xai are all trying to catch up, but you can't catch up with a competitor that is executing the same strategy all along. The only company that seems to keeping pace with Anthropic is good old Google, with Gemini. Listen to the whole episode of Stewart Squared on YouTube

Stewart Alsop liked thisStewart Alsop liked thisI'm contrarian on this. It's quite clear that Apple, due to Johny Shrouji's leadership, has built out the most capable compute platform for local AI processing - on the desktop or in the hand. Nvidia owns the AI cloud compute but Apple owns it locally. Secure, private and powerful. With Shrouji as Chief Hardware Officer and Ternus as CEO, the hardware platform is best in class. We'll see if AI remains entirely in the cloud or if local apps, on local compute, can deliver a compelling experience. The first "big problem" for Ternus isn't AI. It's driving a cultural change within Apple to do breakthrough products. Apple has mastered incremental updates, but struggled with new devices and categories. Shrouji's work has been the most important innovation for Apple in the past decade, as he drove a culture almost separate from the rest of Apple. Start with the culture. The best products will follow.

Stewart Alsop reacted on thisStewart Alsop reacted on thisHey Dad, congrats on being named to the Austin Tech Hall of Fame. You deserve it. Not because of the companies you've built or the research you've led, though there's plenty of that. But because of the way you show up for people. The founders you've mentored (including me). The careers you've quietly shaped. The countless times you've given more than you were asked to. I'm biased, obviously. You're my dad. But I've watched you work. And I can say honestly: Austin is better because of you. May 19th. See you there. 🎉 L!ink in the comments. Also, not sure what's going on in this photo, but it screams tech. Peter Zandan, PhD

Infinite Orbits is accelerating its growth in the orbital services market with the acquisition of LMO and Lúnasa Space. This expansion, backed by a €40 million funding round, reinforces the company's position as a primary architect of European space infrastructure. Kudos! That's really significant. A key driver of this growth is #OrbitGuard, a major innovation in space situational awareness. By providing autonomous vision based proximity maneuvers, OrbitGuard allows operators to observe and monitor activities around communications and strategic satellites with unprecedented precision. The ability to identify and analyze nearby objects in real time is now a critical requirement for protecting strategic infrastructure. The European space sector is transforming rapidly. Infinite Orbits is building the intelligence and infrastructure needed for a secure and resilient presence in orbit. This is about securing key capabilities with the sense of urgency that today’s reality demands. Newfund has supported Adel Haddoud and the Infinite Orbits team since the seed stage. Seeing this vision scale from the early days underscores the impact of founders who execute with speed and precision. cc Christian Reitberger Pierre Limouzin Alexandre Scherer Thibaud Déchaud Jarek Pilarczyk Aurélie NICOLAS Salim Hassad Marc Niederkorn Wojciech Drewczyński #Space #AI #VC #SSA

🚨NEW EPISODE: Recorded live at FUTURE TITANS 2026 - Jeff Perry of Carta sat down with the iconic Seth Levine, co-founder of Foundry. Seth has been in venture for 25 years, built Foundry from scratch as an emerging manager himself, and has backed about 50 emerging manager funds through his fund of funds. He has genuinely seen every side of this table. They went deep on building Foundry, why VCs are in the influence business, not the decision business, and why the concentration problem in venture is not only bad for LPs, but also for the innovation ecosystem overall. And why Seth's new book, Capital Evolution, is so important for the future of America. 🎧 Links to listen... Apple: https://lnkd.in/ehQUQ2EM Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eU4FExpg

Working with NRF to pursue our patent strategy is an important step in recognizing that proprietary AI systems and workflows are becoming a new form of intellectual property for modern firms. Great to partner with George, John McBride, and the team at Norton Rose Fulbright as we work at the frontier of how AI can transform investment decision-making in venture capital. At Decasonic, we believe the next generation of companies will reinvent with AI workflows and systems how organizations operate, how leaders make decisions, and how teams collaborate with intelligent systems. In going through this streamlined process, it's clear to me that many more startups should clarify their IP strategy. Our internally developed AI platform, RLEN, reflects that philosophy. We are building AI not to automate tasks and flourish outcomes, in collaborative ways for human and AI teammates. This enables our investors to test ideas, explore alternative perspectives, and reach deeper insights faster when navigating uncertainty. More broadly, we are seeing trailblazing work across industries and cities as leaders experiment with how AI can reshape communities, companies, and countries. Leadership with AI forever transforms. We are still in the early innings. Appreciate the partnership and collaboration from the Norton Rose Fulbright team as we continue inventing and innovating. Special shoutout to my colleague Abdul Al Ali who's listed as a co-inventor.

You can have groundbreaking science, elegant engineering, and even early customer interest. But without this one thing, you don't have an investable business. After two decades running IP strategy projects and now leading UC Berkeley's Deep Tech Innovation Lab while building the Berkeley Gateway Accelerator, I've watched countless brilliant technologies die in the valley between breakthrough and business. The problem isn't what most technical founders think it is. It's not about having better tech. It's not about getting more funding. It's not even about finding product-market fit. The fatal flaw shows up much earlier—and it's almost always the same mistake. In my latest piece, I answer questions from a Taiwanese entrepreneur about what really separates deep tech ventures that scale from those that stall. Including one provocative suggestion for Asian ecosystems that has nothing to do with technology. Strategic Consolidation in Defense Tech: A Signal, Not an Isolated Deal The recent acquisition of Spear UAV by Uvision a full-ownership consolidation after leading a strategic financing round underscores a deeper structural shift in defense tech markets. What might look like another M&A headline is really a multidimensional signal about how tomorrow’s battlefield tech economy is evolving: Capability integration over point solutions. Uvision’s move to absorb this capability expands its reach across swarms, multi-domain penetration, and heterogeneous launch environments. From units to ecosystems. Traditional unmanned systems markets are fragmenting into layered operational ecosystems: loitering munitions, autonomous launch vectors, and intelligent deployment platforms. Integration bets like this acquisition are instruments for building composable defense stacks rather than single-product portfolios. Consolidation as a response to demand acceleration. Sustained operational demand and geopolitical pressure are forcing established players to accelerate capability breadth and depth. Winning tech in one niche isn’t enough; leaders are integrating adjacent domains (naval, ground, air) to secure comprehensive solutions. Implications for investors & founders. This isn’t merely about exits: it’s about architecting durable, interoperable capability chains that can scale globally. For VC portfolios, it reframes diligence toward: • Systems that can plug into multi-domain operations • IP that materially enhances platform value when recombined • Founders building with acquisition synergies in mind At OpImpact.fund, we see this as part of a larger thematic arc: defense tech is consolidating around networked lethality and modular deployment, not standalone widgets. Deals like this are the market shouting that integration, interoperability, and scalability are the currencies of value creation in 21st century defense. It was another significant week of news for Seraphim. We announced the latest close of our early-stage venture fund, surpassing $100m, further strengthening our global network and ability to support the leaders building the future of SpaceTech. We were also named one of Via Satellite’s Hottest Companies for 2026, described as “synonymous with gold standard investing in the satellite sector.” Ellie Gyaurova from our enterprise team was featured in Via Satellite’s Celebrating Women in Satellite 2026. Thoroughly well-deserved. Across the portfolio: LambdaVision, Inc. secured manufacturing capacity with Starlab, the commercial station venture led by Voyager Technologies, as it prepares for the post-ISS era. This marks the second recent collaboration between Voyager and another Seraphim portfolio company. AST SpaceMobile won a $30m contract linked to a U.S. military broadband demonstration. Hubble Network expanded its terrestrial integration with Samsara, strengthening the link between space and ground networks. 😧It appears the public markets fear of AI has done a 180 - from fear of excessive investment to AI's ability to obliterate long incumbent software companies. I have a feeling we are going to hear the new riff "software is eating software" more times than the famous 2011 op-ed statement from Andreessen that "software is eating the world". Another 180 - long hardware, short (trad) software 🤯. AI infrastructure is literally eating memory. The global memory-ship shortage is expected to last another few years! 💽 Shout out to our pals at Inovia Capital for their State of Canadian Software Report. Thanks for the Miovision mention regarding the massive partnership potential for Canadian companies in the Middle East. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dyB8JkEh

Hexcel Adds Independent Director in Deal With Activist Investor "Hexcel added a new independent director to its board in a move that avoids a potential proxy fight for the aerospace materials company with activist investor Vision One Fund. "As part of an agreement between the two sides, Vision One will withdraw their nominees to the board that were to be voted on at the company's annual shareholder meeting. Vision One will also support Hexcel's board nominees, and agree to certain standstill restrictions and mutual non-disparagement provisions, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday. "The new director, former Kaman Chief Executive Officer Neal Keating, was appointed effective Tuesday." Keating's experience in aerospace may make him an ideal director choice. Yet from a bigger picture perspective, I wonder if this settlement is the right move for investors. More and more activist campaigns are settling rather than running the full process of a proxy fight with typically a greater number of directors nominated by the activist. Hopefully, activists are becoming like the public company boards they battle, i.e. more focused on reaching consensus than big results. #governancearbitrage #proxyfights #corporategovernance #activistinvesting #valuecreation https://lnkd.in/gazBUGFp
