Troy Stevenson posted thisAfter nearly 10 years, ~5 billion customer interactions and >1M airmiles, I’m closing this chapter of my professional journey with gratitude and anticipation. The Uber Customer Operations function I’m leaving is barely recognizable from when I joined in 2016. We’ve transformed from a nascent, fragmented, and reactive set of teams and processes into a centralized, hyper-efficient, and technology-enabled system – widely recognized as industry leading in quality, efficiency and AI-driven automation. We’ve helped Uber grow revenues >30x while expanding from a single product line to a portfolio of businesses and products, and transforming Uber from a cash-burning startup into a mature and profitable public company that manages millions of daily customer interactions. It's been the ride of my life. Some personal highlights: • Week 1: Being given a laptop and a vague description of my job. Ryan Graves, my first manager, telling me I was lucky not to have to assemble my own desk. • Month 1: Answering many enthusiastic calls from Travis at all hours of the day/night about all the things he wanted fixed – immediately! • Year 1: Growing our tech team from one engineer to 100+, and beginning the journey toward mass automation. • Year 3: Celebrating the bell ring at our IPO party at the NYSE. • Year 7: Congratulating our 500th agent moving into a management role. • Year 9: Watching Dara at Davos enthusiastically share our vision for infusing AI into all aspects of our operations. • Year 10: Confidently passing the baton to my talented successor, Megha Yethadka. Please start directing your candid customer feedback to her going forward :) So what’s next? Definitely some more Boards and advisory work in areas I know and love: marketplace businesses, SaaS for operational enablement, and emerging AI. Finding ways to give-back via mentoring and coaching (hopefully the world is eager for a Coach's Corner sequel!) More time on my bike and with family. Perhaps not feeling compelled to ask for customer feedback every time I get in an Uber! Huge thanks to my amazing Uber team, the thousands of Community Operations professionals and our millions of users who keep us at our best everyday. To Andrew Macdonald who has been part of my journey since day one, Gus Fuldner who I learned so much from and Dara Khosrowshahi for his always inspiring leadership.

I know you will crush it!Troy Stevenson liked thisI am excited to share that last week I wrapped up my 10-week internship in the United States Senate Office of Senator Tammy Duckworth! I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve my home state of Illinois and witness the federal legislative process firsthand. This summer reaffirmed my commitment to a career in public service, and working for such a strong fighter in the Senate was truly an incredible experience. Throughout the summer, I had the opportunity to support the Senator’s Judiciary and Energy & Environment portfolios. I provided co-sign and co-sponsor recommendations, legislative tracking, briefing notes, weekly newsletters, and constituent correspondence support for my legislative teams. I was extremely grateful to work on some of the most pressing policy issues facing our country, including immigration, government oversight, civil rights, healthcare access, and environmental protections. I also had the opportunity to see democracy in action, processing thousands of constituent legislative opinions through phone calls, faxes, voicemails, and mail. I was further able to support our office’s constituent casework, providing assistance to veterans and Illinoisans navigating the federal bureaucracy. Through this experience, I gained a deeper understanding of how an effective Senate office works so diligently to serve its constituents. I saw the importance of pairing policymaking with a commitment to the people those policies affect, and I am extremely grateful to have contributed to that effort. Finally, I want to extend a huge thank you to the entire Duckworth staff for their kindness and support this summer, especially Hope Ventura for her mentorship, and Rebecca Chan and Jonathan Charoenkul for their endless guidance and support. A huge thank you as well to Brian Muthangya, Jose Vazquez, Lizzy Olsen, and Ryan Blake for their mentorship and guidance on the Senator’s legislative work. I am beyond grateful for this experience and am excited to carry everything I learned with me as I take my next steps in public service!

After a moment of panic I remembered Uber can fix this. A couple of taps and an Uber courier went to the in-laws, got my bag, and showed up at the dorms right as we did. Amazing! Troy Stevenson liked thisTroy Stevenson liked thisRecently, I passed my one year anniversary at the helm of Uber Freight. When Andrew Macdonald came to me with this opportunity, the challenge was intimidating. Uber Freight, Uber’s $5B freight arm, had not grown top-line in more than three years, was repeatedly missing financial plans, and was still operating as separate businesses following multiple acquisitions. Meanwhile, the vision was significant - make Uber Freight deserving of its position alongside Uber’s category-defining, $100B+ ride-share and delivery businesses that still consistently grow >20% every year. What I found upon joining was many passionate team members, customers who were ready to tell us what was working (and what wasn’t), and all the right puzzle pieces for the growth trajectory we needed. However, it was clear we were really struggling to put those puzzle pieces together. We needed to get ‘back to the basics’ - make some tough calls on leadership, organization, and priorities while truly reminding ourselves that delivering for customers is our #1 priority. The last 12 months have not been easy. A turnaround isn’t for everyone. It’s a daily grind that requires a near impossible combination of impatience and optimism. We’ve had to say goodbye to team members, shelve exciting projects (because too many priorities mean no priorities), and make some very tough financial calls. But here we are, one-year in, and while we have more to do, the momentum is palpable. I could point to a ton of things I’m proud of - EBITDA breakeven for the first time in three years, 25% growth in Q2, expanding relationships as our Managed Transportation customers increasingly buy into our Capacity Solutions, or the new talent we’ve brought in. But the truth is, some of the progress I’m proudest of is hardest to measure - like hearing the team talk about Uber Freight as one company instead of separate businesses or an employee who was deeply frustrated a year ago start a conversation with “here’s what I’m really excited about….” And this momentum is perfectly timed. We said early on that Q3 would be the point when we started investing in our future. We’re not done with the hard work, but we’ve earned the right to start building. After 4 plus years at Uber my ride has ended after being impacted by layoffs the first time ever in my 35 ish year career. What an amazing experience and journey it has been. I am incredibly thankful for all the people I had the opportunity to work with. Uber is filled with smart, driven, and talented people, and I can’t wait to see where the industry goes with AI and autonomous vehicles nipping at their heels. I’m not sure what is next for me but I’m treating this as a crisertunity (crisis+opportunity). I’m taking some time off the corporate grind to focus on my yoga studio ( yep I own a yoga & pilates studio- B-Hive Yoga in Slc), work on some passion projects, get strong as f#ck, and just see what comes my way …

Reflecting on the last two years, a lot has changed with respect to how they PayPal runs with a new operating structure and bringing in new talent to complement existing talent. The CFO said it feels as though the company feels as though has really diversified revenue sources. They have seen nice growth in Venmo, BNPL, debit, and processing businesses beyond just branded. They continue to perform with high free cash flow (FCF), $6-7 bn. Branded Checkout TPV – the company is seeing a slight deceleration in 4Q already called out on their prior EPS call. The consumer is spending less and trading down, tougher comps are coming this quarter, last year had strength in gaming/travel verticals.
