Senior Director, Commercial Development | Remote

Position Summary

Meet has partnered with a life sciences organization seeking a Senior Director of Commercial Development to operate at the intersection of technical expertise, commercial strategy, and business growth.

Reporting into VP of Business Development, this individual will play a critical role in driving proposal excellence, strengthening opportunity qualification and pricing strategy, and serving as a key technical-commercial partner across Business Development, Marketing, and Operations.

This is a highly cross-functional, high-impact role with visibility across strategic initiatives and client engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Act as a technical SME in client discussions to enhance credibility and increase win probability
  • Partner closely with Business Development on strategic pursuits, diligence efforts, and complex opportunities
  • Support advancement and closure of high-value client engagements

Proposal Strategy & Execution

  • Own end-to-end proposal strategy, including technical positioning, messaging, and pricing approach
  • Drive consistency, quality, and efficiency across proposal development processes
  • Lead executive-level reviews for key opportunities

Commercial Strategy & Deal Structuring

  • Lead deal qualification, pricing strategy, risk assessment, and contract structuring
  • Establish disciplined frameworks to prioritize high-value opportunities
  • Align pricing with technical scope, operational realities, and market dynamics

Commercial Operations & Systems

  • Optimize commercial workflows and systems (e.g., CRM tools) to improve pipeline visibility and forecasting
  • Leverage emerging technologies (including AI) to enhance proposal development and knowledge management
  • Drive continuous process improvement across the commercial lifecycle

Partnerships & Market Expansion

  • Build and manage relationships with external partners and subcontractors
  • Identify and scale partnership-driven revenue opportunities

Marketing Alignment & Thought Leadership

  • Align technical messaging with commercial and marketing teams to strengthen market positioning
  • Contribute to technical content, white papers, and external-facing materials
  • Represent the organization at industry events and client engagements

Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Provide insights on market trends, competitive landscape, and client needs
  • Support development of long-term growth strategies and target market focus

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (advanced degree preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience within CDMO, pharmaceutical, or biotech environments
  • Strong blend of technical and commercial experience
  • Demonstrated success in proposal strategy, pricing, and deal structuring
  • Deep understanding of drug product development and manufacturing (sterile, fill/finish, and/or lyophilization preferred)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
