A man charged in the killings of three people in a Hollywood apartment pleaded not guilty to three murder charges Monday at his arraignment.
Patrick Kevin Spurlock is charged in the July 24 killings of Los Angeles residents Jeremiah Badeker, Jack Cartegena and Michael Bogacz. The shooting was at a residence in the 1900 block of Wilcox Avenue when an altercation occurred. The victims were ordered to the floor at gunpoint, then shot several times, according to authorities.

WATCH HERESpurlock was arrested Aug. 13. He was charged Aug. 17 with three counts of murder, which include the special circumstance allegations of multiple murders and murder with a prior
murder conviction along with allegations that he personally and intentionally discharged a firearm, court records show.
Special circumstances allegations can increase penalties in the sentencing phase of a trial.
Spurlock was found mentally competent last Friday to stand trial. He is due back in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom Sept. 4.
Spurlock could face life in prison without the possibility of parole or a death sentence if convicted as charged.
