U.S. forces have launched an operation to assist disaster relief efforts in Venezuela, which was hit this week by devastating earthquakes, U.S. Southern Command said.

The attack raises the death toll from the U.S. strikes to least 211 since the Trump administration began targeting those it calls “narcoterrorists” in early September.

The U.S. strikes that began in early September have killed at least 208 people in the Caribbean Sea and the Eastern Pacific Ocean.

President Donald Trump said in a social media post Friday that U.S. forces killed Niño Guerrero, the leader of the Tren de Aragua cartel, in a strike coordinated with Venezuela.

Nimitz is concluding its deployment to the Southern Seas 26 exercise and wrapping up the final miles of its journey from Naval Base Kitsap to its new homeport at Naval Station Norfolk.

The strike raises to at least 207 the total number of people killed since the U.S. campaign against “narcoterrorists” in the region began in early September.

Gen. Francis L. Donovan, the top general at U.S. Southern Command, had a “brief exchange” about security issues with several senior Cuban military officials, SOUTHCOM said Friday on X.
