VIPERS Athletics

Athletics & SPORTS program at VERSO International school Of Bangkok, Thailand

VERSO is home to the VIPERS. We celebrate a culture of excellence both on and off the field. We continue to build our athletic legacy, and our success extends beyond championships to the development of our athletes who embody values of responsibility, accountability, discipline, and community spirit.

Our state-of-the-art athletic facilities include a 50-meter 10-lane Olympic-size pool and a 25-meter indoor climate-controlled pool, a full-size NBA-inspired basketball arena, two tennis hardcourts, multiple basketball courts, an athletics stadium, two full-size soccer pitches, an indoor junior gymnasium, and a gymnastics room. These professional-grade venues provide our learners with exceptional spaces to train, compete, and develop their athletic abilities.

Our Vipers compete in two (2) athletic leagues —  GBAC (Greater Bangkok Athletics Conference) and BISAL (Bangkok International School Athletics League).

VERSO regularly hosts multiple events, including championship games, while expanding our program offerings. Every practice, every game, and every victory contributes to a thriving athletic culture where learners discover their potential and forge lasting bonds. We take pride in the remarkable growth of our programs.

NOT JUST AN ACTIVITY BUT AN essential LIFE SKILL

SWIM AT VERSO

Swimming at VERSO is not just an activity, it’s an essential survival and life skill. Our founder and investor, Mr. Howard Liang, along with 19 members of his family all survived the 26 December 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami disaster thanks to their ability to swim. The two boats they were on were smashed by huge waves, sending them to the swelling sea near Phang Nga. It was from that survival that created the foundation of VERSO’s swim program.

Weekly lessons with our swim coaches follow internationally-recognized programs, helping learners develop essential skills in a safe and supportive environment. Through our progressive planning system, learners build confidence, master techniques, and develop important values like teamwork and sportsmanship. Every learner is encouraged to participate and excel, making swimming at VERSO a truly inclusive experience that supports both physical well-being and personal growth. Competitive swimming is an important part of our athletics program. Within the age and ability squads, swimmers learn and develop performance and team membership skills within an aquatic arena.

Our exceptional aquatic facilities feature a 50-meter 10-lane Olympic-size pool and a 25-meter indoor climate-controlled pool. This premier swimming environment, combined with our vibrant community, supports swimmers of all levels—from beginners to advanced competitors—as they develop their skills and passion for the sport.

Junior development squad

SERPENT

This is our entry level competitive squad for young swimmers (ages 6-12) to improve their technique across all strokes and learn all the key race skills they will need to compete. Entrants to this squad must display a high level of the technical foundations (catch, streamline, kick etc).

Training commitment: 2-3 sessions/week.

High-Performance squad

Swimmers follow on from the Junior Development squad in improving technical aspects of the strokes and race skills, but now with an increase in total weekly volume. This squad also introduces swimmers to longer sessions (1.25 hours to 1.5 hours).
