    Skepticism keeps us from accepting everything. Open-mindedness keeps us from rejecting everything. Critical thinking probably lives in the uncomfortable space between the two. Which is inconvenient, because certainty has much better marketing.

    Open mindedness is just a fancy word for being gullible and having zero core beliefs..... you open your mind too much and your brain falls out... these so-called critical thinkers are just fence-sitters who can't make a definitive decision to save their lives... they want to look

    Skepticism without openness becomes armor. Openness without skepticism becomes drift. Critical thinking needs both. The mind has to be willing to doubt a claim — including its own favorite one. That is the hard part. Most people only apply the doubt outward.
