
With Peacemaker Season 2, the series now firmly exists within James Gunn and Peter Safran’s restructured DC Universe (DCU). References to the Justice League from the original DC Extended Universe (DCEU) no longer fit and have been adjusted accordingly. Gunn affirmed that while most of Season 1 remains canon, the Justice League cameo is one notable exception.

How the Season 1 recap addresses the change
The Season 2 premiere begins with a recap that revises the controversial Justice League cameo. The original ending, where silhouetted versions of Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Flash appeared, has been replaced. Justice Gang replaces Justice League in recap
The Justice Gang, first introduced in Gunn’s Superman, now appears in the revised recap. The team includes Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), plus David Corenswet’s Superman and Supergirl (Milly Alcock). The editing uses silhouettes and a line change, Adebayo now asks for the “Justice Gang” instead of the “Justice League.”Gunn aims to clarify DCU canon with Season 2
James Gunn acknowledged earlier remarks that “almost all of Peacemaker is canon, with the exception of the Justice League,” indicating the series will address this ambiguity in Season 2.
