Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said he was “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Nadine Dorries to Reform UK. “She is a hugely successful politician, author and columnist and will be a great boost to our campaign to win the next General Election”, as stated in the report by Express.

    Dorries will deliver the opening speech at Reform’s party conference in Birmingham tomorrow. Reports say she defected because she believes the Labour government could collapse within two years, and she does not think Tory leader Kemi Badenoch can win a general election, as per the reports.

    Dorries, a close ally of Boris Johnson, reportedly held secret talks with Nigel Farage at the exclusive 5 Hertford Street private members' club in Mayfair before deciding to switch. However, the Clacton MP Farage did not guarantee her any role in a future Reform government, as per the report by Express.

    Reform UK growing in opinion polls

    Dorries stepped down from Parliament in 2023 after 18 years representing Mid Bedfordshire, but she has not ruled out returning to the Commons in the future. She switched to Reform after being a Conservative Party member for 30 years.

    She is expected to use her influence to push Farage toward making agreements with right-wing Tory candidates, so they don’t split the vote. Reform UK, which currently has four MPs, is now consistently leading national opinion polls, as stated by Express.
