    Schools in Punjab border districts reopen after military standoff with Pakistan

    Schools in five Punjab districts bordering Pakistan have reopened after being closed for six days due to military tensions between India and Pakistan. The closures, initially ordered on May 8, affected schools in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Pathankot, Fazilka, and Ferozepur. Following an agreement between India and Pakistan to halt military actions, schools resumed operations with adjusted timings and encouraging attendance.

    Punjab border districts faced closures. Schools shut down in Amritsar, Pathankot, and other areas. Blackouts occurred in Amritsar and Hoshiarpur. An IndiGo flight to Amritsar returned to Delhi. Drone activity was reported in Jalandhar. Armed forces neutralized a suspected drone. India and Pakistan had previously agreed to halt military actions. Normalcy was returning with markets reopening.

    Punjab opens colleges, cinema halls, malls to those who got at least 1 dose of Covid vaccine

    According to an official statement, colleges, coaching centres and all institutes of higher learning shall be allowed to open by deputy commissioners subject to submission of a certificate that the teaching, non-teaching staff members and students have got at least one dose of vaccine at least two weeks ago.
