I have a very expensive, when new, HP Gaming Laptop that for various reasons needs a rebuild. I have tried a few computer shops that have managed to make things worse not better, Can anyone recommend a reputable IT nerd/techy, in or around Pattaya, that could do the job? PM me if you don't wish to use the normal posting. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone used a chromecast device in Thailand? I was thinking of taking mine and connecting it up when I travel around. Not that I’ll be sitting around watching the telly all day, it’s just good to have and Thai cable isn’t the most exciting. Any pitfalls or access trouble? Would be glad to hear of any experiences.

I just ordered a LAN to USB adapter like this - Tested on LG and Sony model TV's it should eliminate lag when viewing HD movies from sources such as PLEX. The standard TV network adapter is only 10/100 Mpbs which is usually fine for YouTube and browsing but if you already have a fast ethernet system into your house, the TV may be throttling certain video sources with UHD content. Video explains the nitty gritty >

I'm thinking of buying something like this as an emergency power bank and something to be able to take out camping https://shopee.co.th/♈▥☸ALLPOWERS-Portable-Power-Station-110-220V-Solar-Generator-2000W-500W-300W-100W-Emergency-Power-Supply-Fit-For-Iphone-i.429595744.10681779645?sp_atk=c0a44748-5d31-4515-9ade-03cdcfd2697f&xptdk=c0a44748-5d31-4515-9ade-03cdcfd2697f. I see that you can hook up solar to this type of unit and recharge the batteries via portable solar panels. I have a dual Sim Samsung S23. While in Thailand now a few months I have a AIS eSim with Thai number (and my USA number works also). When I go back home in November the AIS service will end. When I come back in January, does anyone know if I can just reload the same eSim and keep that Thai number or do I get another eSim (and number)? The reason I ask is I am setting up a Thai bank account and the service I am using mentioned I need a Thai number to use mobile banking but unsure what happens if I change the number later. I have yet to build my new home, but are there and decent American TV stations available with the major carriers here? I have seen some options here on my In Laws satellite they use, but do not pay for it of course. Things like ESPN, Fox News, HBO? Hate to always depend on UTube for old news. True satellite is the big fish here, right? Thanks!

To be able to operate my online banking with Kasikorn, I need to be able to receive One Time Passwords when I'm in the UK. I have no mobile signal in the UK and up to now have got by using Wifi Calling. My Thai mobile is with DTAC who I've been with for many years but they have a chequered history when it comes to Wifi calling. A few years ago, I had it on my mobile without any app downlaod and all was fine. Then I inadvertently let my account run out of credit for some time. Although my account was still retrievable, when I added credit they needed to do something techy and for some reason I lost Wifi calling. When I contacted them, they said I would need a new S…

Thai gf just bought a new MSI laptop (Windows 11). I wanted to help her out using it (and not have to use Google Lens to translate all the Thai. It seems it only can be used in Thai - I cannot change language to English (for the Windows menus, etc.). She called the place where they bought it, and they said it can only support 1 language at a time. That seems odd.... is that something specific to computers in Thailand? Any thoughts?

Hi all, I had a problem with my laptop so I decided to totally reset Windows 11. Everything was going along fine until I tried to re install Zenmate. I then got this message that stated Zenmate could not download the needed files and I should check my internet connection. I followed the advice several times only to be back where I started from. I reported this to Zenmate customer support and 5 days on I still haven't received a reply. Thanks.

Hi We have recently landed in Phuket to live and our UK 'stuff' arrived today. Due to my incompetence I cut the UK 3 pin plug off my Sonos soundbar before moving (didn't realise that the power cable was detachable) and didn't pack the plug. All the other UK plugs I have are moulded plastic so can't remove from another piece of kit and wire the Sonos. My question is - can I safely put a Thai plug onto the Sonos soundbar cable? Thanks in advance Stuart

So a few days ago, I went with my wife to a restaurant for dinner, and they gifted us a 256GB KINGSTON USB Drive. Now, upon a first glance I thought, wow! Today is my lucky day... they gifted me what should be worth around 1,300 THB and the bill I paid was around 1,800 THB for two people, that IS amazing value! ... Or is it? On second thought they must be dumb to gift such a high valued gift Me, being an IT guy, I suspected this is a fake Kingston drive, and the manufacturer modified its firmware to get it to "lie to Windows" thus appearing as 256GB... Let's try to prove my theory using a tool called FAKEFLASHTEST, this tool is free to use and ver…
