I started out my evening with Alan Parson Project's "Turn of a Friendly Card". Just excellent. I had the rift from Steely Dan's "Bodhisattva" in my head earlier today, so have my headphones on and am cruising with "Countdown to Ecstasy", a cup of cocoa. It's hell getting old.

Our last generations had the privilege of some great inspiring or meaningful and thought provoking songs about political turmoil of the times. How does our latest generation stand out amongst the song writers before them? I found one example, not to all liking, but just a comparison from old to new.🙂

Hi there I live in Bueng Kan province. I am English, from Suffolk. My hobby has always been music and I embrace that by mixing and DJ’ing. My love for house music through the decades has seen me spend weeks in Ibiza and other areas that have become popular with the genre. I have a studio here in Bueng Kan and spend hours mixing music but I really miss a live performance. I play expat parties sometimes in Pattaya but on the whole the Thai’s embrace their own music styles, especially here in Isan. I thought I’d put out a message to anyone that might like a house music DJ to come and play at a party or event. I don’t charge. I just love playing to an enthusiasti…

My Mayall tribute. I was fortunate to see him live in a small lounge type venue in Chicago back in the late 90's along with Peter Green, himself an ex-Blues Breakers member. Parchman Farm off of the '66 Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton LP.

Back in the 1990's and into the 2000"s we used to have musicians come on stage and play their music live and unplugged from any sound altering computers, It was mostly shown a TV show called MTV Unplugged. More of this please.

OK, 23 years now, seems a bit distant untill we hear a song from times gone by, Has it all been lost to the past? Those that grew up in the 20th century know what I mean, The Beatles. The Doors. Led Zeppelin. The Rolling Stones. Pink Floyd. ACDC. The Who. Nirvana. ABBA. So I have been sequestered in Thailand for over 10 years, and I have no idea of 21st century bands that have had an influence on this current generation, Lay some out for us to hear and learn from, I can give a couple of examples of bands I find influential from the 21st century, but that was from back in my time in Aus. 1 - Linkin Park

How times have changed, Getting on to 50 years now, yet some of the songs from our past seem to be more current than what we are hearing now?

We all know of the time when a friend said "have you heard this?" and they say the name then we say no, but as soon as the tune plays we say "I know that".

Not sure if it is still referred to as "eletronica" today, but back in the day that is what it was called, Were some pretty popular songs, some others were used in adds on TV some slid by the wayside. Was basically songs using an electric synthesizer to create the beat/rythem, Gary Numan was a pioneer in this form back in the 1970's

May 2nd, 2023 - Gordon Lightfoot just passed away aged 84. Absolute legend and a great Canadian, up there with Gretzky, Dan Aykroyd, Neil Young, William Shatner and Tim Horton 🇨🇦🍁 Perhaps nobody will read this, hidden away here on a music thread, but I wanted to post a tribute. Great singer songwriter and a rare musical genius. R.I.P.

If you could bring one album,or CD or mp3 to a party, and get to play both sides(full cd) , what would you bring? Not just Thailand, anywhere. For me I would consider the hosts of the party, and than I would forget about what they like and bring this. on mp3, LOL🙂

Never really liked Rap music, I am over 50 so that may explain some of it, (i generally like more upbeat music) but occasionally some rap song pops up with a good tune or beat. Never been into that type of music but now and again some band/singer produces something i like, Best to have a wide listening variety after all. If you don't taste it you will never know if you like it?.

"Joy to the world: Cliff Richard to release new Christmas album Christmas With Cliff will be singer’s first festive season album release for almost two decades" Great, must go & buy it... Looks to me as if he'd give Joe Biden a 'run for his money' in the cognitive stakes. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2022/sep/06/joy-to-the-world-cliff-richard-to-release-new-christmas-album
