Most of the moments that matter won't make the highlight reel. The conversation after class. The extra time spent helping a struggling student. The confidence built one small step at a time. But those moments can change everything. The Pearson Educator Awards celebrate Higher Education and English Language Learning educators whose impact goes far beyond what can be measured. Know a colleague whose work deserves to be recognized? Or have a story you're proud of? Nominate yourself or a peer today: http://spr.ly/6047B15Xc1

“The model is only one ingredient, and the learning experience is much more than that.” In an interview with Fast Company, Omar Abbosh shares his perspective on how Pearson is using AI to create learning experiences that strengthen understanding and skill development, rather than simply accelerate answers. Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/ewiaFp_7
🚨 Exclusive: Why Pearson Thinks Better AI Models Won’t Be Enough to Transform Education 📌 Most companies measure AI progress by how well a model answers questions. Pearson is trying to solve a harder problem: what if the answer is correct, but giving it to a student actually gets in the way of learning? 🎙️ I spoke with CEO Omar Abbosh about how the 180-year-old education company is approaching that problem—& why it believes learning science, learner data and institutional relationships could matter more than which AI model leads the benchmarks. 📌 Pearson generated £3.58 billion in revenue in 2025 and now has AI embedded across products used by millions of learners. It has also deliberately avoided betting on a single model provider, using technology from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, Google and IBM. 💬 “The model is only one ingredient, and the learning experience is much more than that,” Abbosh told me. He explained that the durable advantage comes from combining AI with academically sound content and educator expertise. 📌 David Brudenell, co-CEO of Decidr, says that companies may be overestimating the durability of their AI stacks. “If your advantage is a clever RAG pipeline, you have about 18 months,” he told me. What survives, he argues, is the record of how a business actually makes decisions. 📌 In education, Kavitta Ghai, cofounder and CEO of Nectir, sees another moat: institutional relationships, permission to work with student data and the experience of deploying AI inside universities. “A campus AI license is not a campus AI deployment,” she says. 📌 Pearson has analyzed 80 million learning interactions from nearly 400,000 higher-education students, with additional studies showing higher rates of initial mastery and intended use of its AI tools. 💬 Mutlu Cukurova, professor of learning and AI at UCL, says “More data is good but it often helps with precision, not validity.” Millions of interactions can tell Pearson exactly what students are doing without necessarily proving whether they're learning. 📌 Companies have become very good at measuring adoption, engagement and model performance. The harder metric is whether the technology produces the outcome it was supposed to produce in the first place. 👉 Read my full analysis in Fast Company: https://lnkd.in/daShiWnD #AIAgents #AI #Education #EdTech #EnterpriseAI #GenerativeAI #Learning #ResponsibleAI #AIGovernance #FutureOfEducation #AIinEducation #Pearson #AgenticAI #AIResearch #VictorDey

Over the coming weeks, we’re celebrating the hard work of all students receiving their exam results. As these WorldSkills UK competitors know, success isn't defined by a single result. From higher education to apprenticeships, employment to further study, there are many paths forward, and each one starts with the skills, knowledge and determination you've built along the way. #ResultsDay2026 #ForEveryFuture #ALevelResultsDay #BTECResultsDay #TLevelResultsDay #ResultsD
