Thanks to the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) for the opportunity to share Google’s work applying AI to advance cancer research, treatment, care, and cures. This talk was personal for me; I offered my perspective both as someone privileged to work with amazing scientists driving solutions and as a cancer survivor. AI is accelerating scientific breakthroughs, supporting better clinical delivery and outcomes, and strengthening cybersecurity in an era of rising healthcare data breaches. From tools that aid early detection and treatment decisions, to agentic AI that helps clinicians stay current with the latest guidelines, we are already seeing powerful examples of what AI is making possible in healthcare. As Dr. Clifford Hudis, CEO of ASCO, my oncologist and friend once said to me: “AI is a critical part of democratizing healthcare – so that everyone, everywhere can have access to the best insights” that are invaluable to achieving the best outcomes. AI will not cure cancer on its own, but it can amplify what clinicians do best: discover, care, and heal. You can read my full remarks here: https://lnkd.in/eJrVdGSm

Meet Moses, an account management associate based in our Atlanta office. “I work on Google’s large customer sales (LCS) team, where I serve as a point of contact for some of our largest advertisers,” Moses shares. “My job is to help businesses understand and leverage Google Ads products so they can use them to achieve their marketing and business goals.” Moses explains how his journey to Google began years ago, "Since high school, I had my sights set on working here. In college, I applied to multiple Google internships, but never got in. After graduation, I took a job at another company, but realized it wasn’t the right fit. I spent months searching for a new role, and eventually a recruiter reached out about a role. Three years later, here I am! It still feels surreal.” Ready to start your journey to Google? Meet Yomi, an industrial designer at Google who was instrumental in Pixel’s recent #Pixel9a launch. “I’ve been interested in design for as long as I can remember. Design is rooted in curiosity, and I’ve always been curious about how things work and appear. I lead design efforts and collaborations with partner teams across engineering, manufacturing, and marketing to shape the Pixel A-series phones,” Yomi says. At the outset, Yomi’s passion for design was a key driver of his approach. “As both the design lead and a lifelong fan of the product, I wanted to add another dimension to the A-series,” he says. “When making design decisions, I sought to shape the product so it accomplished our mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible. In short, my goal was to build an affordable yet super-powerful device to bring the power of Google to the masses.” Of course, Yomi didn’t work on this alone — collaboration with partner teams was a key part of the process. The end result was a phone with a strikingly streamlined look: Pixel 9a has a nearly flat back, featuring a redesigned thin camera bump inspired by the surface tension of water droplets. For anyone interested in pursuing similar work, Yomi shares three words that have guided his career, “I think the key to being a good designer can be summarized by this: curiosity, compassion, and mindfulness. As long as you are curious about why certain things are done a certain way, feel compassion to help others, and mindfully pay attention to the present moment, you’re good to go.”  Explore roles like Yomi’s and other opportunities at Google → goo.gle/4kKGHrd #LifeatGoogle

Jules — a program manager on Google's recruiting team — shared her tips for answering our non-technical interview questions ("tell me about a time when..."). "You may be surprised to learn just how many Googlers are working in non-technical roles," Jules explained. "These positions include business analysts, human resources, sales, marketing, public policy, communications and more." For all roles at Google, we ask non-technical questions to get a better understanding of how you approach and solve problems. Jules' advice for answering this type of question? "Try to find connections between the job listing and your resume. Re-read both to help you draw lines between the two and see where they connect. Once you’ve thought of the stories you want to share, be sure to gather supporting data that shows your impact. This will help your interviewer understand not just your overall achievements, but how big of an impact you made."
