Guardians' Franklin Gomez: Back in action
Gomez (elbow) was activated from the 7-day injured list Aug. 21.
Gomez missed nearly two months while recovering from a left elbow injury. He was promoted to Double-A Akron upon his return and has made two starts since, allowing six runs on nine hits while striking out nine and walking four over 6.2 frames.

Guardians' Carlos Hernandez: Getting call to big leagues
Hernandez will have his contract selected from Triple-A Columbus ahead of Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Guardians Prospective reports.
Hernandez has been decent at Triple-A since being activated from the 60-day injured list near the end of July, though one blowup outing against Saint Paul on Aug. 20 has inflated his ERA to 5.40 over 13.1 innings (12 appearances). He'll be called on to provide bullpen support for the Guardians once rosters expand Tuesday.

Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Heading to big leagues
Schneemann will be recalled from Triple-A Columbus prior to Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Guardians Prospective reports.
Schneemann was optioned to the minors July 24 but has impressed at the dish since the demotion, slashing .326/.457/.533 with three home runs, 10 RBI, four stolen bases and 32 runs over 25 games. He'll serve in a utility role for Cleveland and has started at six different positions this season in the big leagues, primarily manning third base and center field.

Guardians' Nathaniel Lowe: Clubs homer in win
Lowe went 1-for-4 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in Sunday's 11-1 win over Kansas City.
Lowe took a four-seamer from Seth Lugo on the outer half of the plate the opposite way for a two-run homer to give the Guardians a 3-0 lead in the first inning. His .237/.262/.408 slash line in a Cleveland uniform does not jump off the page, but Lowe has 15 RBI over 21 games since joining the team.

Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Four hits in win
DeLauter started in right field and went 4-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's 11-1 win over the Royals.
DeLauter, who recorded his third four-hit game, keeps chugging along deep into his rookie season. Sunday's start in right field marked his first in the field since returning from a hamstring injury; he served as the designated hitter the previous two games.

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Goes yard in four-RBI effort
Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, a walk and an additional run scored in Sunday's 11-1 win over the Royals.
The star third baseman shined Sunday, tallying his second-most RBI of the season. Ramirez is having a down year by his lofty standards, but he's now collected nine RBI in his past five outings as he looks to heat up. Through 447 plate appearances, he's slashing .243/.339/.393 with 11 homers, 48 RBI, 31 stolen bases and 61 runs scored.

Guardians' Parker Messick: Coasts to 11th win
Messick (11-8) earned the win against the Royals on Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out five.
After conceding a run in the opening inning, Messick cruised his way to victory on a day when the Guardians erupted for nine runs through four innings. The left-hander continues to deal on the hill, tossing at least five innings while giving up two runs or fewer in 10 consecutive starts since the beginning of July. He'll look to further improve upon an already excellent 2.46 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 161:43 K:BB over 161 innings in his next scheduled outing against Detroit.

Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Not doing baseball activities yet
Hoskins (back) is feeling better but has not yet resumed baseball activity, MLB.com reports.
Hoskins landed on the 10-day injured list Aug. 19 with back tightness and is eligible to be activated when ready. Cleveland is getting by at first base with Nathaniel Lowe (against righties) and David Fry (against lefties).

Guardians' Angel Martinez: Accounts for offense in loss
Martinez went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Royals.
Martinez gave the Guardians an early lead, belting a two-run homer in the second inning, and then singled in an insurance run in the bottom of the ninth. Chase DeLauter, who served as the designated hitter the last two days, is dealing with a nagging hamstring issue, which could open up playing time. Martinez is enjoying his best season in the majors, posting a .712 OPS along with 13 home runs, 48 RBI and 11 steals across 94 games and 341 plate appearances.

Guardians' David Fry: Makes first start since call-up
Fry started at first base and went 1-for-1 with a walk and a double in Saturday's 8-3 loss to Kansas City.
Fry was in the starting lineup for the first time since being recalled Aug. 19, slotting in at first base against a left-hander. He was eventually pinch hit for by Nathaniel Lowe against a right-handed reliever. Lowe remains the starter at first base, getting starts whenever the Guardians face a right-hander. Fry will remain the primary backup until Rhys Hoskins (back) comes off the injured list.

Guardians' Foster Griffin: Fans four in five strong innings
Griffin didn't factor into the decision against the Royals on Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out four.
After surrendering five runs in his team debut Aug. 6 against the Mets, Griffin has regained his form on the mound since then. The southpaw has thrown at least five innings while yielding two earned runs or fewer in four consecutive starts, giving up five hits or fewer each time out during that span. He'll take an excellent 3.21 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 139:39 K:BB across 154.1 innings into his next scheduled outing versus Detroit.

Guardians' Travis Bazzana: On bench against LHP
Bazzana is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals.
The lefty-hitting Bazzana has slashed .188/.295/.232 in 129 plate appearances against same-side pitching this season and has fallen into a platoon role lately as a result. That trend will continue Saturday with the 2024 No. 1 overall pick sitting against southpaw Daniel Lynch as Angel Genao starts at the keystone for Cleveland.

Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Returns to starting lineup
DeLauter served as the designated hitter and went 1-for-4 in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Royals.
DeLauter was back in the starting lineup after a hamstring injury forced him to open the previous three games on the bench. The hamstring has popped up twice this month, so DeLauter could stick in a DH role for a bit before returning to the field.

Guardians' Tanner Bibee: Suffers tough-luck loss
Bibee (5-14) took the loss against the Royals on Friday, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts over six innings.
Bibee allowed a run in the fifth inning and delivered his third straight quality start but was outdueled by Michael Wacha. The 27-year-old Bibee is now tied with Shane Baz for the major-league lead in losses, though he's pitched better than his record would indicate. He owns a 3.88 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 128:46 K:BB across 162.1 innings this season and lines up for a home matchup with the Blue Jays next week.

Guardians' Shawn Armstrong: Progressing in recovery
Armstrong (calf) threw a bullpen session Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Armstrong was recently cleared to begin a throwing progression, a good indication that he is recovering from a left calf strain that landed him on the injured list in late July. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on Aug. 4, but he could be back on the Guardians' major-league roster right before the end of the regular season in mid-to-late September.
