Seymour (9-6) took the loss Monday against the Mets, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out 10 without issuing a walk over 6.1 innings.
Seymour generated 19 whiffs on 52 swings while recording his second double-digit strikeout performance of the season. He notched seven of his 10 strikeouts over the first three innings, including coming one pitch away from an immaculate inning in the first. Seymour surrendered a solo homer to Mark Vientos in the seventh before exiting and watching another score from the dugout. He has now delivered a quality start in five of his last eight outings. Despite losing three straight starts, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) across 17 innings, he's racked up 23 strikeouts during that span. Seymour owns a 4.21 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 138:32 K:BB across 113.1 innings heading into his next scheduled start against the Rangers.
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Monday that Mesa (hamstring) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Mesa played five rehab games with Triple-A Durham, going 4-for-18 with a pair of home runs. The 24-year-old landed on the IL in mid-August with a strained left hamstring. Once back on the active roster, Mesa will likely be mixed and matched with Jonny DeLuca in right field.

Mateo drew a walk in the fifth inning before stealing second and third on consecutive pitches, then added another steal after beginning the 10th as the automatic runner to complete the first three-steal game of his career. The middle infielder now owns 15 stolen bases this season. He capped the night in dramatic fashion with a walk-off RBI single in the 11th. Through his first three games with the Rays, Mateo is 1-for-8 at the plate.

DeLuca came through with Tampa Bay down to its final out, taking Mason Miller deep for a game-tying two-run homer in the ninth inning to force extras in the eventual victory. He would drive in another run in the 11th, reaching base due to a fielding error. His three RBI tied a season high and continued a productive stretch in which he's recorded at least one hit in 10 of his last 12 games. DeLuca is batting .266 with a .732 OPS across 89 games this season.

Rays' Drew Rasmussen: Limits Padres in no-decision

Rasmussen did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Padres, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings.
Rasmussen kept San Diego off the board outside of the fourth inning, when Xander Bogaerts delivered a two-run single. It marked the right-hander's first start without a win since July 9, snapping a streak of seven consecutive victories. He's been excellent throughout August, posting a 2.57 ERA with a 37:8 K:BB across 35 innings. Rasmussen is scheduled to make his next start Friday against the Rangers.
Mullins is out of the lineup for Sunday's affair with the Padres.
As San Diego sends out southpaw Robbie Ray, the left-handed hitter will take a seat. Jonny DeLuca will slide over to center field in place of Mullins.

Baker was summoned to protect a one-run lead and worked around a one-out walk to close the door. The 31-year-old has converted 28 straight save chances dating back to May 13, and his 39 saves on the year lead the majors by four. It's been a dream first season in the closer's role, as he's posted a dominant 1.53 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 59:17 K:BB across 53 innings.
McClanahan (10-6) earned the win against the Padres on Friday, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 5.2 innings.
McClanahan opened with four scoreless frames before losing steam, departing an out shy of a quality start after allowing a homer in the sixth. It marks the first time the 29-year-old has reached 80 pitches since returning from the injured list Aug. 17, a three-start stretch in which he's yielded six earned runs with a 12:3 K:BB. He'll take a 3.19 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 103:38 K:BB across 113 innings into a home matchup with the Mets next week.
