Steps to Become a Chola MS General Insurance Agent
Online Agent Registration
Submit your basic details using the Chola MS Agent Registration Form
IRDAI Mandated Training
Complete the prescribed General Insurance Agent/POSP training. The training program will be of 15 hours for POSPs and 25 hours for IRDAI Licensed Agents.
Examination
Applicants for IRDAI Licensed Agent must appear for and clear the IRDAI mandated GI Agent Exam. While the applicants for POSP must pass the online assessment conducted by Chola MS.
Agent Appointment & Code Allotment
After the successful completion of the exam (for IRDAI Licensed Agents) /assessment (for POSP), you will receive your Chola MS Agent / POSP Code after verification.

Is there any fee to become a Chola MS agent?
Chola MS does not charge any registration fee. Training and exam fees vary for IRDA Licensed Agents and POSPs, which apply as per IRDAI regulations.
How much commission can I earn working as a general insurance agent?
We offer a lucrative commission to our agents to reward their hard work (as approved by IRDAI). The commission is per policy basis, and it also varies across the type of insurance you sell & the location where you sell.
How long does agent onboarding take?
Usually 7–15 working days, subject to document verification and exam completion.
Can I work part time?
Yes. Many agents work part‑time alongside jobs or businesses.
Is IRDAI licence mandatory?
If you want to become an IRDAI licensed agent where you can sell insurance products without any Sum Insured limits, clearing the exam conducted by IRDAI to obtain a valid IRDAI certification is mandatory.
While for POSPs, IRDAI Licence is not required but passing the assessment conducted by Chola MS is mandatory.
