Africa is home to many incredible destinations that are well worth visiting. However, many of the continent's holiday spots remain hidden gems waiting to be discovered by travellers around the world.

Now, a travelling vlogger, who shares his adventures on YouTube to his 2.55 million subscribers, has revealed one country that he claims is among the top five underrated countries in the world. Harry Jaggard mentioned the country in a YouTube short clip when asked, "What are the top five most underrated countries that nobody talks about?"

The first answer Harry provided was Eritrea, a country in East Africa. The content creator praised the unspoilt country before adding that he recommends that those who would like to visit Africa consider making Eritrea their first stop.

Harry said: "It's safe to go to for tourism. They've just opened up probably the safest country in Africa. People speak great English, it's very clean. If you're looking to go to Africa and you wanna start off easy, I'd recommend Eritrea."

One viewer commented: "Thank you, Harry. I really enjoyed your videos. And thank you for going to Eritrea and showing our beautiful country I hope things will get better there with the government and [that] we can all visit."

Eritrea remains one of Africa's undiscovered countries. The country's capital, Asamara, is dubbed Little Rome because of its beautifully preserved Italian modernist architecture. It is the first city in the world to be recognised in its entirety as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Asmara also houses the Cathedral Our Lady of the Rosary, one of Eritrea's main tourist attractions. On TripAdvisor, tourists have described the incredible church as "one of the most impressive buildings in Asmara" and "well worth visiting."

Though the country is considered to be safe for travellers, the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) advises against all travel to certain parts of it. The warning includes areas within 25 kilometres of all of Eritrea's land borders.

It states: "Tensions between Eritrea and Ethiopia are high. The security situation in Eritrea could change with a little notice."

The Foreign Office also reminds British travellers that consular support is "severely limited in parts of Eritrea" and that authorities in the country do not always inform the British Embassy if a British national is in need of help.
