Adam Malamut, PhD shared thisThere is usually a clear plan when it comes to cost optimization. The harder part is translating that plan into day-to-day decisions across teams. That is where linchpin leaders play a critical role. My colleagues Abby Curnow-Chavez and Betsy Fischer break down why this group matters and how organizations can better enable them. Adam Malamut, PhD shared thisAI is already reshaping how consumers discover, engage with and trust media content and the pace of change is accelerating. New data shows that personalization, content discovery and even perceptions of authenticity are being directly influenced by AI across platforms. Adam Malamut, PhD shared thisMy colleague Matt Campbell recently highlighted a thoughtful HBR piece on the forces reshaping the workplace as AI adoption accelerates. Many companies are testing new capabilities, but the bigger question is how leaders adapt operating models and workforce strategies to capture real value. That shift will define the next phase of AI adoption. Check out the article from Harvard Business Review.Adam Malamut, PhD shared thisAI is changing the workforce faster than most organizations are changing how they think about talent. Recent insights suggest that while many companies are still waiting for meaningful returns from AI, the labour market is already shifting in real time. LinkedIn data points to 1.3 million new AI-related jobs created, even as overall hiring remains under pressure and many workers feel unprepared for what comes next. For leaders, that makes 2026 less about predicting disruption and more about managing a transition that is already underway. The organizations that pull ahead will not be the ones that adopt AI the fastest, but the ones that align it with a clearer talent strategy. That means investing in upskilling, redesigning work around both technical and human capabilities, and being more deliberate about where AI actually adds value. It also means recognizing that AI alone does not create better outcomes. Productivity, creativity, and innovation still depend on people using these tools with strong judgment and critical thinking. In the next phase of transformation, competitive advantage will come from pairing AI adoption with smarter workforce decisions. How are you seeing AI reshape talent priorities in your organization? https://okt.to/nH3LYE

Adam Malamut, PhD shared thisFor years, workforce planning was treated as a back-office exercise covering headcount, budgets, compliance. But the old model breaks the moment markets shift, skills run short, and AI begins reshaping how work actually gets done. In my work with organizations, I’m seeing firsthand how quickly the old approaches fall apart. Today’s workforce isn’t just human, it’s human + digital + AI-enabled systems operating side by side. A static planning model simply can’t keep up. Adam Malamut, PhD shared thisAs AI, automation, and market volatility reshape how work gets done, traditional headcount-driven planning models are reaching their limits. Organizations now need dynamic, AI-enabled approaches that can continuously sense change, model scenarios, and orchestrate human and digital talent in real time. In our latest article, Managing Director Adam Malamut, PhD outlines the trends that are reshaping workforce planning in the AI era and introduces A&M’s Workforce Planning Maturity Curve. The piece explores how leaders can move from static plans to a regenerative workforce that is truly “adaptive by design.” Read the full article to equip your HR, Finance and business leaders with a shared framework for AI era workforce planning: https://okt.to/76XYQT #AMon #WorkforcePlanning #AI #FutureOfWork #TalentStrategy

Adam Malamut, PhD shared thisAI is reshaping the nature of work and the composition of the workforce itself. Organizations that reimagine how people and intelligent systems create value together will see ROI in both technology and talent. My colleagues and I explored this in a recent webcast. Catch the replay below. #futureofwork #HRtransformation #AI #talentmanagementAdam Malamut, PhD shared thisAI may be the buzzword of the year, but many organizations still struggle to realize real ROI. While clean data, solid architecture, and strong planning are critical, research shows that human adoption ultimately determines whether AI initiatives succeed or fail. On September 10, A&M’s Talent, Organization & People (TOP) experts Adam Malamut, PhD, Brad Hullsiek, and Rebecca Stockley joined Tayo Famakinwa, UPS President and Global Head of HR Operations, to discuss how AI is transforming human capital strategies across industries. As both experts and industry leaders, they shared insights on navigating these challenges at a global scale and explored the gap between AI’s transformational promise and the execution realities most companies face today. Adam Malamut, PhD liked thisAdam Malamut, PhD liked thisLeadership in an AI era isn’t abstract anymore. It’s here and it requires moving with speed while keeping people at the center. I appreciated the opportunity to join Barb Bidan on The Human Element to talk about what it really takes to modernize an industry with AI while helping a workforce adopt it without losing its humanity. We discussed how CCC Intelligent Solutions is embedding AI across our products and in how we work, and what that means for leaders navigating real change. A few themes we explored: staying anchored in purpose when the ground is shifting; making “AI everywhere” practical by using it to draft, analyze, and prioritize so people can focus on judgment and outcomes; and enrolling people in change through clear, repeated communication and purpose‑driven storytelling. We also talked about the skills this moment demands such as learning agility, curiosity, and ability to provide (and receive) clear, actionable feedback. Clarity matters for people, and it matters when working with AI. Thanks Barb for the thoughtful conversation and leadership on this important topic. https://lnkd.in/gTJgXSYtFrom Purpose to AI Workers: CCC’s CHRO on Scaling AI Without Losing HumanityFrom Purpose to AI Workers: CCC’s CHRO on Scaling AI Without Losing Humanity

Adam Malamut, PhD liked thisAdam Malamut, PhD liked thisThis is not a goodbye note. This is a love letter. After more than eight extraordinary years, I’m sharing that I’ll be leaving Walmart. My heart is full of gratitude. It has been a rare privilege to build, learn, and imagine alongside so many thoughtful, talented colleagues and friends — and to help create experiences through design that bring more access, dignity, and delight to our customers and associates. During my time at Walmart, I’ve received a master class in leadership, and I am genuinely a better person because of my team and the many people I’ve had the chance to work with across the company. I leave with an even deeper belief that design is more important than ever. We are living in a moment when the interconnections between everything are becoming impossible to ignore, and design helps us see those connections more clearly. Design also gives us something essential: hope. By articulating a vision for the future, design can help people believe in what is possible. We need that kind of hope right now. Thank you, Walmart, for the trust, the partnership, and an unforgettable journey. *I took this photo at Crystal Bridges in Bentonville of Wayne Thiebaud’s Supine Woman — a painting I loved so much that I also had a print of it in my Bentonville apartment. I’m including it because it captures this moment for me: contemplation, tenderness, and the quiet possibility that comes with change.

I recently had the opportunity to speak with Ulrich Fässler, CEO of SHL Medical, as part of BCG’s Bold Advances in Health Care series. Our conversation explored what it means to lead in an environment defined by rapid change, digitalization, and the growing role of AI. Ulrich shared a leadership philosophy rooted in authenticity, active listening, and decisive action, even when information is incomplete. What stood out was Ulrich’s ability to balance bold transformation with the practical realities of day-to-day operations. With more than 1.5 billion devices shipped to patients, SHL Medical’s journey offers a compelling example of how leadership and technology can work together to shape the future of health care. Why are more CHROs joining corporate boards today? Because people risk is business risk. As issues like AI, geopolitical shifts, cyber threats, and talent shortages grow more urgent, boards need leaders who can navigate the people implications of these challenges. Health care innovation is increasingly defined by system-level capabilities. Closed-loop manufacturing, global scale, and drug delivery devices that generate therapy feedback are becoming central to how value is created. In a recent interview with BCG’s Torben Danger, Ulrich Fässler shared how SHL Medical is building toward this model by digitizing core processes end to end and using that data foundation to deploy AI across manufacturing and operations. A recent Deloitte study showed that the scope of responsibilities and competencies for any type of executives has expanded by 20% in the last 5 years because of the magnitude of market changes. The CHRO role is no different, or is it? Is it even more impacted? Thought leaders have started thinking of the role as a prime candidate for Chief Experience (across HR and IT), and some as a great CEO candidate profile. Evolving Talent, Capability, and Consulting - from the Inside Out Transformation is no longer episodic. It is now a continuous operating condition and one that demands more than strategy decks and external consultants. Organizations today face a dual challenge: lead change from within, while reducing reliance on outside advisory spend. Yet most organizations are underprepared. They ask functional teams to take on strategic responsibilities, guiding change, enabling capability, and aligning people to enterprise priorities but fail to provide the identity scaffolding, development structure, or compensation strategy to support it. This is not a soft issue. It is a structural one. And it is costing organizations speed, alignment, and credibility. The IHCP 2025 Human Capital Advisory Benchmark Report is the first of its kind to benchmark this shift. It focuses not on general workforce trends or high-level consulting theory, but on the lived transition of professionals operating in HR, learning, operations, and delivery roles who are increasingly expected to act as internal advisors without the title or support. This report makes the invisible work of human capital consulting visible and shows organizations how to scale it. Read it here! https://lnkd.in/ei4jewSh

Life sciences companies are entering a new era of capital intensity—but capital alone doesn’t drive outcomes. In this new article, with my McKinsey colleagues: Erikhans Kok, Parag Patel, Tacy Foster and Adam Kuzmik, we discuss four capabilities that could help decrease risks and costs while enabling companies to deliver faster and more reliably on projects. Life sciences leaders who prioritize capital excellence could generate stronger financial outcomes and increase their ownership over the product life cycle, all while bringing life-saving medicines and therapies to market—and patients—sooner.
