Smith and Jessie Smedley at Talent Care for the work you're doing on the workforce side, and to Lani and Stephen from Boost for hosting…including sponsoring the magic card trick Ryan Emry and I pulled off running through the Gracent care calculator. The old 9 to 5 gig evaporated a long time ago. Become a social media maniac…that’s where your customers and ptrospects work and play. “Like” and “Follow” each of your prospect’s or customer’s organizational Facebook and LinkedIn pages. Write positive reviews. Your presence in the group will be noticed. Write a “helpful” and/or “educational” blog that rarely mentions your’s or your company’s/organization’s name and ask them to subscribe. People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. Apply what I call the “Duracell Principle”…shine your proverbial flashlight on others, highlighting the good things they are doing and accomplishing. Everyone likes a cheerleader. Those salespeople who take the bumps out of the customer’s buying journey and create a smooth ride become the most memorable and widely used vendors. Stop Managing Results. Start Coaching Champions. 🚀 Most sales leaders are stuck in a "fixer" loop—reacting to missed quotas, chasing deadlines, and telling people what to do. But Keith Rosen makes a provocative point: If you’re telling your team how to fix their problems, you aren’t leading; you’re creating dependency. To scale a high-performance sales culture, you need to transition from a manager to an Executive Sales Coach. Here is the blueprint: 💡 The 7 Pillars of Executive Sales Coaching: 1️⃣ Coach the Person, Not the Result Numbers are just a byproduct of behavior. If you only talk about the "gap" in the quota, you’re looking at the rearview mirror. Coaching focuses on the input—the skills, beliefs, and actions that create the result. 2️⃣ The "Questioning" Mastery The person talking is the person learning. A master coach replaces directives with discovery. Instead of "Do X," try: "What is the one thing standing between you and this deal?" or "If you were the customer, what would be your biggest concern right now?" 3️⃣ Avoid the "Advice Trap" As leaders, we love to be the hero. But every time you provide the answer, you've robbed your salesperson of an opportunity to grow. It happens in the five minutes after a call or the three minutes before a presentation. 5️⃣ Mastering the L.E.A.D.S. Framework™ * Listen: For the "gap" in their logic. Evoke: Use questions to trigger an "Aha!" moment. Answer: Support their ideas rather than imposing yours. Discuss: Create a collaborative action plan. Support: Build a safety net for them to take risks. 6️⃣ Detach from the Outcome When you are desperate for the deal, your team feels the pressure, and customers feel the "sales breath." A coach stays objective, focusing on the quality of the process. Trust the process, and the numbers will follow. 7️⃣ Create Cultural Accountability True coaching builds a team that holds itself accountable. When people own the solution because they came up with it, they are 10x more likely to execute it with excellence. 🏆 You can’t scale yourself, but you can scale a coaching culture. Most sellers try to “create” champions. I don’t. Here’s what actually works. Champions don’t come from pressure. They come from honest conversations with people who are just trying to make their day easier. In enterprise sales, client empathy is priority number one. Real empathy. The kind where you actually understand what slows them down, not just what they say in a meeting. Most of the honest insights come from the casual moments. Coffee. Lunch. A quick walk through their workflow. That’s when you hear things like, “If someone would just fix this, my life would be so much easier.” I go into those conversations with no expectations. If I can solve something, I’ll show them how. If I can’t, I won’t force it. I’m there to help, not to chase a number. Most clients aren’t salespeople. They don’t always know where a conversation is headed, and they’ve been burned enough times to expect the worst. I’ve even had clients tell me, “I thought you were going to try to sell me something I don’t need.” That’s how conditioned people are. So I make it clear right away that I’m not here to sell something they don’t need. I’m not here to create a problem that doesn’t exist. I’m not here to scare them into a decision. You build trust by not overselling yourself or your product. You build trust by being honest about what you can and can’t solve. Trust is what wins business. And when trust is in place, clients start doing something powerful. They advocate for you when you’re not in the room. That’s a champion. What’s one thing you do that actually builds a real champion?
