The sister of a man who was found dead inside a Hollywood apartment along with two other men received a text message from an unknown number about her brother's death, NBC4 Investigates exclusively learned Thursday.
When the three men were found dead inside the apartment on Wilcox Avenue near Franklin Avenue Tuesday night, police had said officers went to the location after a family member had requested a welfare check.

WATCH HEREAfter receiving the text message from the unknown number, the victim's sister called the Los Angeles Police Department and asked for a welfare check because she lives in Las Vegas, NBC4 Investigates learned from LAPD sources.
The three men were not the tenants of the apartment unit, the sources said. No weapons were found at the scene.
Investigators also do not believe the deadly shooting is gang-related as they continue to look for motive and examine surveillance video footage from the area.
A neighbor told NBCLA Thursday that he had heard multiple gunshots Saturday night, followed by someone's scream.
"We heard like maybe 10 shots. I knew it was a gunshot," Roy Emerald who lives nearby said. "We heard a woman screaming. It’s almost like she ran from this building down here. She’s just screaming, 'Help me.'"

It’s unclear if the gunshots neighbors reported hearing Saturday night are connected to the case. But police said investigators are going through all calls generated from the same neighborhood.
