Dana Point's mighty Whale Festival: The handsome harbor town is known for its sublime and splashy whale-watching trips, but for a couple of days each March the splashy sights are seen on land, thanks to this long-running cetacean spectacular. The Magical Migration Parade is returning March 7, yay — roadwork meant it didn't roll in 2025 — and educational talks, kid stuff, and other sealife-sweet activities and events will pop up around the water. It's no fluke why this fest is venerable: Landlubbers adore it.

Oscar Nominee Spotlights: The 98th Annual Academy Awards will roll out the red carpets in just over a week, but the Academy Museum is getting the glittering goings-on rolling pronto. In-depth discussions focused on animated shorts and feature films, make-up and hairstyling, and other cinematic callings will be considered, celebrated, and basked in by film lovers in the days just ahead. The Oscar-themed goodness is happening through March 14, so be sure to check the schedule.

Barks & Brews: It's a rompful and rollicking day when a pup gets the cheerful chance to call upon the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, and one such ebullient opportunity is on the hound-loving horizon. A yearly event dedicated to craft sips and cool canines will frolic at the Arcadia garden March 7, and your (leashed) buddy is invited. There will be vendors, a place for your lil' guy to sit for a complimentary portrait, and ready-to-adopt pooches from Pasadena Humane, too, to make it all the more meaningful.
