Remembering the life and legacy of Jackie, the bald eagle that captivated countless viewers around the world, is something devoted fans have been doing since the iconic animal passed in early August.
Pop-up memorials in the Big Bear Lake have been one way that Southern Californians have honored the beautiful bird, while donations to nature nonprofits have been another important show of support.

Those organizations include CALM Zoo in Bakersfield, the home of Spirit, an eagle that donated blood to Jackie, as well as Ojai Raptor Center, where Jackie received care after being found grounded in Big Bear in July.
The San Bernardino County Firefighters Fund and San Dimas Raptor Rescue are also beneficiaries of the fundraising t-shirt.
There is a backlog on orders, which is no surprise, giving the amount of attention that Jackie's story has garnered.

This is an official fundraising item from Friends of Big Bear Valley. Ojai Raptor Center offered "a word of caution" about unofficial merchandise said to fundraise for the center in the days following the eagle's death.
The nonprofit has been central to sharing Jackie's world with, well, the world: Friends of Big Bear Valley operates a nest-close camera, one that watches visiting bald eagles and other critters around the clock.
In recent days, an eagle called Kaydee has been frequenting the famous Jeffery pine nest, a sizable aerie Jackie shared with her mate Shadow for a number of years; the pair's chicks hatched over a few seasons in the much-watched nest, giving viewers far beyond Big Bear an inner look at the hatching and care of eaglets.
The organization shared a few words on its t-shirt post about the much-missed bird: "Thank you all for your kind words and love for Jackie. We miss her and she will remain in our hearts and memories forever."
The Ojai Raptor Center team has been sharing updates about Jackie's death and what may have led to it in recent days; a "brief update" was shared on Aug. 28 to let eagle fans know "where things stand" with the medical investigation.
