Waves Repeat in Patterns
Waves move in repeating cycles. Just like a cork bobbing up and down in the ocean, the motion repeats over and over again. This repeating motion is called periodic movement.

Period Measures One Cycle
The period of a wave is the time it takes to complete one full cycle. For example, if a wave takes two seconds to go up and down, its period is two seconds.

Frequency Measures How Often
Frequency describes how many waves pass in one second. If each wave takes two seconds, the frequency is 0.5 waves per second.
