Young boy dies in park tragedy in Winsford, England; family reacts, father pays tribute

Synopsis
In Winsford, England, a 12-year-old boy tragically died after falling from playground equipment at Wharton Recreation Ground. Emergency services responded, but Logan was pronounced dead at the scene on August 29, 2025. Police are investigating and appealing for witnesses, while the community mourns the loss of a beloved young boy remembered for his infectious personality and beautiful smile.
In a statement accessed by The Independent, Detective Sergeant John Rhodes said, “As part of our investigation into this incident, we are asking anyone who may have been in or around the Wharton Recreation Ground area just off Ledward Street in Winsford at around the time of the incident and saw anything that may aid us in our enquiries, to please get in touch.”
“At this stage, I would also like to ask the public not to feed into any speculation, particularly on social media, as this remains an ongoing investigation,” he further stated.
Family remembers Logan
The family called Logan a “much-loved son, brother, grandson, great-grandson, cousin and friend to many” in a statement included in the Cheshire Constabulary press release. “He had an infectious personality and a beautiful smile,” the statement continued. "Everyone wanted to be where Logan was. He was a little boy who was so full of life and wanted to make everyone laugh. He made every day worth living.”
The family further stated, “Logan was everyone’s therapy person, their calm, and he will be missed more than we can ever put into words. We are taking comfort from the words of support we have received whilst we take time to come to terms with the untimely loss of our blue-eyed boy."
In a post on Facebook, Logan’s father, Rob Carter, paid tribute to his son on Saturday, August 30, 2025. He wrote, “When I [woke] up on Friday my little mate I didn't think that would be the last time I get to see you.” “My heart has been ripped in two,” he continued.
“All I can say to people is hold your kids and tell them every day how much you love them because you never know when they will be gone,” he added in a follow-up post shared later the same day.
A GoFundMe has been established to help the family following the loss of their loved one.
