
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases a monthly list of bank holidays so that customers can plan their banking tasks in advance and avoid inconvenience.

Apart from national, regional holidays, banks will observe public holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Note that August has five Saturday’s and the fifth Saturday is a working day for banks as per the RBI rules.

Nuakhai is an agricultural festival mostly observed by the people of Western Odisha, India. Nuakhai is observed to welcome the next season's rice. According to the calendar, it is celebrated on panchami tithi of the lunar fortnight of Bhadrapada or Bhadraba (August-September), the day following the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday.
