Just look at this disg... sorry, typo, delicious food ( as they call it) 🤣 No, really, let's not. But if everyone in the UK was it would save the NHS 30,000,000,000! Where do some of these extremists get their figures from - TAT? I was a vegetarian for a while, around 10 years ago, but that was largely due to wanting to lose weight, which I did. Wasn't too difficult, took two weeks to adjust. Don't like Tofu though. In the end, I succumbed to a bacon sandwich... https://metro.co.uk/2022/01/06/veganuary-nhs-could-save-30000000000-if-everyone-went-vegan-15840675/

The Ultimate Savoury Cheese Sarnie A rapidly fading foody recollection of a digestive orgasm – and almost a real one as well – whilst eating a ‘Woolpack special’ packed lunch, during the final assault of Bowfell from Three Tarns; part of my training for my Woolpack Walk attempt, next day (as link below). Roughly halfway up the final, steep ascent to Bowfell’s summit, a perfectly bum-shaped boulder as good as insisted that I use that spot for my lunch-break and to check-out the contents of the huge ‘Woolpack Special’ packed lunch box. Once opened, an entire confectioners shop spilled out of the package and onto my boulder. First, the sarnies – two rounds; …

Southern Thai food is usually much spicier than Northern Thai food. The cuisine is heavily influenced by spices used in Malaysia and Indonesia, so expect it to be rich, bold, aromatic, and intense in flavour. Using lots of curry paste and spices, the food is mostly spicy and sour, not so much sweet. But don’t worry, those who can’t handle spice won’t be left out since there are a few delicious dishes that aren’t spicy. Here, we’ve compiled the 8 popular Southern Thai dishes that you absolutely have to try! 1. Where is the best Somtam in Thailand ? This one is my personal favorite , from the World Famous Heun Phen restaurant in Chiang Mai . Quite expensive at 70 Baht , but very much worth paying a bit extra for quality and sitting in a restaurant, rather than on a plastic chair on the pavement . The vinegar sauce is what makes it such a nice meal, perfect for dipping sticky rice in afterwards . What is your personal favorite somtam

after moving to a condo in bangkok i decided to checkout meat prices since i started working out again, wow, $1.50/lb (canadian dollars) for chicken breast filets, it costs $5-$6/lb in canada. I eat quite a bit of protein now that im working out again, 3-4lbs a day depending on my diet, savings of $15-$24 a day, $450-$720 a month in savings, although I don't really eat that much anymore bangkok just keeps getting better and better :) hope it's not a pricing error, was 60baht/kg for skin on chicken breast

Just checking if anyone else has a passion for Thai food, regardless of living in Thailand? I'm Canadian and live in Canada, and I own a Thai food business, and I try to learn and experiment as much as I can, while also trying to preserve the history or origins of dishes I make. I've got a pretty extensive collection of Thai cookbooks as well! For me, one of the dishes I miss the most and it encapsulates what I love about simple Thai food done perfectly, is a delicious bowl of Khao Tom or Jok. As easy as it would be for me to recreate, nothing is quite like eating some Khao Tom Pla or Moo in a little stall or restaurant with a shitty plastic chair and a dirty bo…

Now normally anyone would be more than happy to have a full bottle of water. As a real ale drinker from the UK I always expect a full pint of beer - excluding the head. Don’t snigger boy. That's an imperial pint btw (568ml), not a US pint (473ml). The bottles of water we buy are absolutely full to the top – right up to the plastic screw-top. When I hold the bottle to open the screw top, there’s always some water that spills out. Even though I keep the bottle on a flat surface to avoid tipping it or squeezing it unnecessarily, as it’s a soft plastic bottle. Which means that really I should get up from my desk and go into the kitchen or the bathroom to open it, …

Up until recently, I was buying 1kg packs of Makro smoked bacon. Unfortunately, I have noticed that the quality varies too much & it contains a lot of extra fat. Can anyone recommend an online shop, that they have used? It's my intention to eventually smoke my own bacon, but don't have the time to devote to it yet.

With red cooked pork and a lump of palm sugar, these dry-style noodles definitely skew to the sweeter side of hot-and-sour. Absolutely addictive. Any good bets for finding these in Bangkok or other major cities? This photo was taken at a shop in the Si Satchanalai District, about an hour north of Sukhothai Historical Park. (I have been to สมทรงโภชนาวัดสังเวช in Bangkok, a bit up from Phra Athit pier, and it was decent but insanely slow.)
