Emma Raducanu and Naomi Osaka have risen up the WTA rankings following the conclusion of the US Open. Aryna Sabalenka won her second straight title in New York with a one-sided victory over Amanda Anisimova in Saturday's final. She remains at the top of the world singles rankings with a huge gap to Iga Swiatek in second place.

Coco Gauff remains third despite being knocked out in the quarter-finals, while Anisimova has climbed five places to sit fourth. Raducanu has also been given a higher ranking after being dumped out in round three by Elena Rybakina. The young Brit claimed impressive wins over Ena Shibahara and Janice Tjen before she was eliminated from the tournament.

Raducanu has risen two places to 34th and will be hoping to make further inroads to secure a seeding for next year's Australian Open. She was ranked as low as 61 at the start of 2024 but has steadily made her way back up over the last nine months.

Osaka, meanwhile, was among the biggest movers after surging into the semi-finals at Flushing Meadows. She now sits 14th, having climbed 10 positions after beating the likes of Daria Kasatkina, Gauff and Karolina Muchova.

Cristina Bucsa has climbed the highest number of places of any player in the top 100. She finds herself in 62nd after reaching the round of 16 at the US Open, earning a huge increase of 33 positions.

The likes of Alexandra Eala, Ann Li, Barbora Krejcikova and Marketa Vondrousova are just some of the others to have risen up the rankings by more than 10 places.

Plenty of players have slipped down the standings, too. Emma Navarro has tumbled to 18th, losing seven positions, while Jessica Bouzas Mineiro has fallen by 10 places to 50th and Donna Vekic now sits 68th having previously been 49th.

Raducanu, meanwhile, will hope to keep chipping away at the rankings between now and the end of this year. She is on the verge of a seeded spot for the Australian Open but will have to make some more progress before that becomes a reality.

After crashing out of the US Open, the 22-year-old raised eyebrows by suggesting that some top players take her more seriously than other opponents.

"When the very top play against me, they have a point to prove that theyre at the top and they’re there for a reason," said Raducanu. "I think every time I’ve played one, they’ve kind of shown that.

“At the same time, while I’m improving, doing better, gaining maybe some more respect around, yeah, the top have definitely raised their game.

"But I’ll take that as a compliment that they’ve decided to really lock in against me. At the same time, it does show I have a lot more work to do."
