Jae B. posted thisI'm thrilled to announce that I've joined Second Front to lead product marketing. Second Front's mission is to accelerate the delivery of emerging technologies to the public sector. While there is so much innovation today, the public sector often can't access this technology. Companies face complex, costly, and time-consuming accreditation processes (such as ATO and FedRAMP) to become eligible to serve this market. Second Front bridges this gap. The impact that we will have on government entities and the people they protect and serve worldwide is truly an incredible opportunity. This extraordinary endeavor can only be accomplished by extraordinary people. Come join me and our growing team. #GovTech, #DefenseTech, #DevSecOps

Jae B. posted thisWhat I learned about leadership from a homeless man: · Don’t judge a person by their appearance. The “professionals” are not professional; the person with less power have great power and wisdom. · Anyone can exemplify true #leadershipbyexample by serving others and sacrificing themself. · Those in position of leadership do not “deserve” what they have; they were fortunate to have been born in a certain country to a certain family, gotten help from many others, and received many, many opportunities for advancement. · Leaders can and should learn from the most and the least within and outside their organization. · Practice #gratitude and #humility to be a better leader and human being. · And…I am still learning more—many years later—from the gifts that Chris had given me. In my former life, I owned a chain of retail stores in the #nyc area. I hired a professional crew to clean up the store and fill up a 50yard dumpster. As I waited for the “professionals” to show up, Chris, a man in his 50’s, tapped the window every hour and I turned him away. After several hours of waiting, I asked Chris what he wanted. He said he was not looking for a handout; he wanted to earn enough money to buy a bag of diapers for his girlfriend’s daughter. I hired him on the spot. I rolled up my sleeves and Chris and I filled up a third of the dumpster. He worked hard and never complained. After lunch, the professionals finally showed up. As they worked, I could see that Chris and I were more than twice as productive as the professional crew. I let the professionals go home early, and Chris and I filled up the rest of the dumpster. As I paid him, Chris thanked me and said that he would watch out for the dumpster. I thought nothing of it. Two days later, I came back to see the dumpster pillaged through and the contents littered across two city blocks. Neighbors said, “You are one lucky man!” Over the weekend, the locals had unloaded much of the dumpster and the residents could not walk across the sidewalk. Over a dozen #nyc fire dept and police officers were called and they were ready to write tens of thousands of dollars of the #finest NYC tickets. Chris intervened and bartered with them: If he could clean up the street of all the debris and sharp objects in 30 minutes, would they not write those tickets. They chuckled incredulously, “I’d like to see that!” Chris rose up to the challenge and recruited his other homeless friends and local residents to refill the 50yard dumpster. Chris did it and the NYC finest left. When I learned all of this, I hugged Chris and thanked him. Even though I paid Chris for all of his help, I knew I could not truly pay him back for what he did and for what he taught me. To this day, I still think about Chris and meditate on this #lifeexperience. I am so #grateful that Chris took a chance on me! #leaders #learning #humility #opportunityforall

Jae B. posted this14 years ago, I was working in NYC when one of my colleagues defined #integritymatters as “doing the right thing when no one is watching”. For some reason, his comment stuck with me. 4 years ago, I was the only person working on my floor at a Seattle #ecommercestore on a Friday night at 9pm. I had a dilemma: Do I create my algorithm to filter out non-credible safety products just in my category, 4 more hours work, or do I expand my algorithm across all major safety products—beyond my job responsibility—at my company, 12 more hours work? I recalled my NYC friend’s comment and took the latter path. I had a miserable weekend, my work was barely acknowledged, and I forgot about that week. 2 years ago, with the onslaught of the Coronavirus in full force, I finally saw the fruit of my labor. I saw the #algorithms at work, ensuring that the #facemasks and other safety products sold on the eCommerce site were meeting US #safetyandhealth standards. This was one of my proudest accomplishments in my career, but I had moved on to a #rpadeveloper company by then. As I enter into the New Year, I take with me the following #lifelessons: · What we do at #workmatters. What we do with #integritymatters even more. · Real “#liferewards” are given/realized far after the event, perhaps many years down the line. · Doing the right thing is not efficient, takes extra work, and is sometimes penalized—you see others getting ahead by focusing on themselves first. So, what will matter to you in 2022?

Jae B. shared thisI began work at UiPath two years ago. Eric Yaeger asked me if I'm ready to join the rocketship. At the time, only a quarter of the Bellevue office was built out; I was sitting in a unfinished concrete floor, plaster and metal wall-framed room. It did not look like a mighty tech rocketship. I am so glad that I did join UiPath. I have learned to see with my mind and to believe in my heart things that cannot be seen with my eyes. I've had the amazing fortune to work with Brandon Brown, Dhruv Asher, CFA and many amazing colleagues around the world. Who could have foreseen the company go public in two years! So many amazing--yet difficult--opportunities ahead. Still hungry for more. Looking forward to many more years ahead with these good people. #uipathemployee #uipathipo

A few highlights: - Montserrat Patiño, who answered my newbie questions and helped me get set up for my first-ever DEF CON presentation! - Eden Yardeni, who patiently answered so many of my AppSec, threat modeling, and ASVS questions. - Robert Hurlbut, whose session I missed, but whose presence was certainly felt across the conference, both by those who attended and those who couldn't get in because it was booked out! - Angelika S., with whom I had a great discussion about how PASTA differs from STRIDE. - Yariv Tal, who gave an eye-opening presentation on enforcing security policies at the language level to enable safer usage patterns with AI coding agents. - 😷 Adam Shostack, who introduced PHANTOM-B, a STRIDE-like taxonomy for threat modeling AI applications. - Petra Vukmirovic, with whom I had a fascinating discussion about the distinction between a risk and a threat. - Starr Brown, who supported the events at the OWASP Village with her amazing mix of energy, tenacity, and creativity. - Stacey Ebbs, who supported the OWASP Village activities and outreach efforts with so much enthusiasm and energy! - Aarav Juneja - who gave a brilliant talk on how browser extensions can be exploited to compromise user privacy and security. - Hakeem Oseni - an old friend from Carnegie Mellon with whom I discussed so many cybersec and non-cybersec topics. - Narayan Ram Narayanan - who shared many insights about cryptography, fascinating exploits and more. - Abhi Baheti - whose unique approach to cultivating cybersec talent, business and life left me inspired. - ☁️ Francesco ☁️ Cipollone - who shared his amazing Phoenix platform for tracking vulnerabilities and connecting them to threat models. Thank you all for making my first ever DEF CON so memorable ❤️

Jae B. liked thisJae B. liked thisThanks Amazon for all the fun (and the fish!) for these last five years. I’ll always remember my first product strategy leadership review where I projected 3 year revenue of $500M and was told to come back with a path to $1bln so it’d be worth investing in. Since then, I’ve had the good luck to lead global products with multi-billion dollar revenue, working alongside some of the brightest and most passionate people I’ve known and strategizing with executives from largest enterprises and startups. What’s next? I’ll be working with some physical AI goodness. 🦾🤖🦾

Jae B. liked thisJae B. liked thisMy book is out today: The Work That Remains — Human Judgment, AI, and the Architecture of the Next Enterprise. I wrote it because most of what executives hear about AI comes from one of two rooms — one in panic, one in euphoria. Neither helps you decide anything. What enterprises need is a pragmatic account of where AI is genuinely strong, where it is structurally limited, and a deployment model that follows from both. That is what this book tries to be. My bias, declared up front: I run an automation company, and the conclusion is convenient for companies like mine. Do not take the argument on my authority — and do not dismiss it for the same reason. If you leave with one argument, take this one. AI genuinely embodies characteristics of human intelligence — it reasons, plans, drafts, explains. But it lacks the one thing every employee you ever hired does naturally: it does not learn on the job. A new hire arrives knowing nothing about your company and becomes valuable by absorbing everything nobody ever wrote down. The model arrives brilliant — and shows up exactly as new every morning. The entire method in this book is built around that limitation. I wrote it with Claude and ChatGPT, and the last chapter explains how. I learned more about AI writing this book than in any year of running an AI company. I think every reader will leave with something that changes how they deploy it. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/g3PwkM4q

Jae B. liked thisJae B. liked thisMost companies meet the word "ATO" the same way: a federal prospect says it on a call, and nobody in the room knows yet what it will cost to say yes. Accrete, Dropzone AI, and Onebrief were all there once. On September 3, they walk through what they'd tell their earlier selves — where the real trade-offs sit, and what changed once accreditation stopped setting the timeline. 📍Everywhere Date: September 3 Time: 2pm ET / 11am PT CPE Credits ✅️ Link in comments. Bring all your ATO questions (seriously). #ATO #DefenseTech #DualUse #GovTech

Jae B. liked thisJae B. liked thisI am a best-selling author. Sounds impressive, right? Well... maybe not as impressive as it sounds. In fact, I was shocked when I saw this screenshot because my book hasn't even launched yet. Here's what happened. Many people assume that becoming an Amazon best-selling author means selling thousands of books. Sometimes it does. But Amazon's bestseller rankings are much more nuanced. A book can earn "best-seller" status by reaching the Top 100 in a specific category. Amazon tracks thousands of categories, updates rankings hourly, and separates Kindle and print rankings. My book reached #88 in Kindle's Communications in Management category. So technically, yes… I am a best-selling author. But a more accurate description would be: Author of a Top 100 Amazon Best Seller in Communications in Management. Why am I sharing this? Because I think we need more transparency about the labels and credentials we celebrate. The title is exciting, and I'm genuinely grateful. But what matters more to me isn't a ranking. It's whether this book helps introverted professionals: - Increase their confidence without changing who they are. - Communicate their ideas with greater impact. - Build influence in a way that feels authentic. - Understand themselves and the people around them more deeply. That's the real measure of success. So while I'm celebrating this milestone, I'm even more excited about what happens when the book reaches readers. Thank you to everyone who has already pre-ordered, encouraged me, shared feedback, or supported this journey. And yes… I now have a very good new fact for "Two Truths and a Lie." 😄

Green explains how agencies can move beyond quarterly check-ins and point-in-time reviews toward a live understanding of whether a system is reachable, exploitable and capable of creating a wider blast radius. He also discusses automated security gates, Secure by Design and the importance of making security part of the software development process from the beginning. Managing media for millions of users requires strong automation. I see this challenge come up often. Grubhub tackled inconsistent image quality by moving to an intelligent media pipeline with Cloudinary. It is a great example of how we help remove the manual production burden from technical teams. Most Q1 GTM plans don’t fail because they’re wrong- they fail because execution gaps show up early and go unaddressed. Research from BCG, Gartner, and Bain points to the same pattern: misaligned priorities, lagging enablement, tool-first thinking, and slow feedback loops quietly erode performance. The strongest teams don’t treat Q1 as a verdict on the year. They treat it as a learning window. In this post, we break down the most common GTM execution mistakes and how to correct them before they impact revenue. Read the full blog: https://lnkd.in/d8CvnB6Z
