Ryan Z. reposted thisRyan Z. reposted thisThere’s this moment that happens in most of my demo calls that I love. It reminds me why we do what we do here at Mappedin. It’s when the Ops team sees their own building on a 3D interactive map for the first time. 👀 👀 A navigable, searchable, accurate map of their venue as it actually exists today. The reaction is almost always the same. Someone squints at a corner of the screen and goes: "Wait… is that staircase still showing up? We closed that two years ago." Then someone else: "And that entrance. That's been reconfigured. Fans can't actually go that way anymore." Finally, there’s the slow realization: there's a version of their building that exists in signage, in PDFs, in old training materials that doesn't match reality. Here's why this happens. Stadium ops teams are in that building every day. They know every change that's been made because they were there when it happened. But either: 𝟭. That moment changes the conversation. It stops being about "do we need a digital map" and starts being about "how did we not have this already." —--- 📩 DM me if you want some free tips on modernizing your maps (and by default, your fan experience). Ryan Z. shared thisToday, Mappedin announced its $24.5M Series B led by Edison Partners The outdoors runs on maps. But buildings don't - until now. Mappedin has spent over a decade building the foundation: 10 billion square feet mapped across 86 countries, 450 million visits guided, trusted by the world’s most prestigious venues. But this has never just been about wayfinding. When emergencies happen inside complex buildings, the absence of shared infrastructure costs lives. Hongwei Liu and the Mappedin team are building the layer that security, operations, and first responders can all run on. The opportunity to scale that from individual buildings to entire cities is exactly the kind of category-defining investment we back. This growth investment underpins our thesis behind digitizing critical infrastructure. Ryan Z. reposted thisRyan Z. reposted thisIn one sentence Cigna simultaneously destroyed $15B in market capitalization and proved my eight-year thesis. Yesterday's transcript reads: “Due to the deliberate investments we anticipate making to implement this new model and the renewals and extensions of our largest clients, we expect adjusted operating income and Pharmacy Benefit Services to decline in 2026.” To every client who understood the importance of prescription savings, plan integrity, and customer service… thank you for your support. To every colleague and investor who endured my lectures on supply-chain economics… thank you for trusting my insight and helping us build an incredible organization. To every government official who understood the inherent conflicts of interest of the traditional PBM model… thank you for your time and willingness to listen. To every banking analyst who heard me state a publicly traded entity can’t adopt transparency at scale without an impact to forward looking earnings… thank you for your change or heart (see attached picture). To every consultant who stated transparent PBMs couldn’t compete with larger, traditional PBMs and the model would never change… thank you for recognizing the impossible was actually quite possible. To every healthcare executive who scoffed at the importance of building Judi and the competitive advantage our technology brings to counter margin compression (the result of competition + transparency)… thank you for being intractable, your ignorance was a blessing. Is there any comfort in being proven right? Of course. However, we may have won the opening of this chess match, but now begins the end game. What comes next? 1) Employers and health plans will recognize (en masse) there is a conflict of interest (fiduciary liability) if your PBM (plan administrator) makes money on drug spend. There is a problem if your PBM earns more money on a clinical decision, formulary choice, drug classification, or fulfillment option. 2) AI will benefit companies with modern, unified infrastructure, and remain an elusive promise to firms seeking a competitive advantage on antiquated systems. Whatever gains were sold, the REALity will become 3x the cost in technical debt, member abrasion, data integrity issues, and cost to maintain disparate systems. 3) Pharmacy management (PBM) will no longer be discussed in isolation, and evolve into a holistic analysis considering administrative costs for pharmacy, medical, dental, vision, etc… this is the dawn of the Health Benefit Manager (HBM) and the removal of $1T in administrative waste. In a week or so, some investors will re-trade macro trend for micro earnings, certain consultants may be lured by the promise of reform, and some employers might double-down on imprudence... it does not matter. This chapter of the PBM industry is over and the industry has forever changed. I am proud of the impact Capital Rx (Judi Health) made by being on the right side of history.

Ryan Z. reposted thisRyan Z. reposted thisWhile welcoming today's announcement regarding the temporary tariff structure between the U.S. and China I was reminded that this can have significant implications on global supply chain security. The team at Overhaul conducted a quick risk assessment based on the latest news, highlighting the following key points: - The Backlog Effect: With the resumption of significant volumes of cargo movement, there may be surges at major ports, high congestion in distribution centers, and limited transport capacity due to the clearance of previously stalled cargo. - A Prime Window for Cargo Criminals: The period of instability creates opportunities for supply chain crime, with vulnerabilities such as unattended containers, last-minute rerouting, and increased use of under-vetted carriers. - High-Value Targets: Items like semiconductors, AI hardware, EV batteries, medical devices, and luxury goods are at risk of being targeted by criminal networks for theft and fraud. - What to Watch in the Next 30–90 Days: Expect spikes in cargo thefts along re-entry corridors, fraudulent forwarding and brokerage scams, and an increase in cyber-attacks targeting cargo tracking tools. Overhaul recommends the following measures to address the operational risks: - Review SOPs for delayed cargo release and verify carrier credentials. - Implement dual-authentication processes for pickups. - Utilize IoT tracking devices for high-value loads. - Monitor open-source intelligence and dark web activity around major port releases. In summary, while the tariff reduction brings relief, it also poses operational risks. Logistics leaders are advised to approach the next 30 days as a high-risk transition period, emphasizing visibility, verification, and deterrence to combat potential theft, fraud, and infiltration by criminal groups. Ryan Z. liked thisRyan Z. liked thisOpen Google Maps. Before you take the first step, which direction are you facing? You don't know. Neither does your phone. The compass in your phone is wrong more often than it's right. Outdoors, it's a minor annoyance — you take a step, GPS corrects itself, and you're fine. But the scenario indoors is a disaster. For example: You're a passenger stepping off a flight into an unfamiliar terminal. You open the airport app, it says turn left, but "left" according to your phone might actually be behind you. You start walking the wrong way. Now the blue dot is chasing you instead of guiding you. The indoor positioning industry spent a decade trying to answer, "where am I?" The harder question was always, "which way am I facing?" This is why visual positioning matters more than most people realize. One camera frame and the model will recognize where you are and your direction. Your compass is corrected before you take your first step. Set someone down the right path initially and you've solved half of the wayfinding problem. – By the way, this is something Mappedin now solves for with the Start from Here feature, just shipped: ordnl.link/Kji3d61

Ryan Z. liked thisRyan Z. liked this5 stadiums I'm keeping a close eye on in 2026, and why each one is doing something worth paying attention to: 1. Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA One of 11 venues hosting the FIFA World Cup this summer, and arguably the most fan-forward stadium in the NFL. They did something truly innovative in 2017 when they rolled out “Fan First Menu Pricing.” They cut beer prices to $5 and hot dog prices to $2, and per-capita fan spending went up 16%. Now they've layered in dynamic ticket pricing with Ticketmaster. The model: treat fans like customers, not a captive audience. Revenue follows. 2. SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park in Inglewood, CA The most expensive stadium ever built and $5.5B. The Infinity Screen alone weighs 2.2 million pounds, runs 80 million pixels, and stretches longer than the football field itself. The roof is seismically independent from the bowl. Every facade panel is uniquely designed. Honestly, it's less a stadium and more a proof of concept for what happens when you remove the budget ceiling entirely and create the impossible. 3. Energizer Park in St. Louis, MO Built on a former highway off-ramp with no back door. Every service function routes underground so all four sides of the building are publicly accessible 365 days a year. The plaza hosts concerts, watch parties, dog events, block parties—not just game days (though I’m a die-hard fan of St. Louis CITY SC** 😉). It's the clearest example I've seen of a stadium designed as genuine neighborhood infrastructure, not just a sports venue. **Also a Mappedin customer, so I may be biased. See their map: https://lnkd.in/ecr3pxhE 4. EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, FL (Home of the Jacksonville Jaguars) The $1.4B renovation opening in 2028 is testing a reflective, canopy material that has never been used on any other building. It covers every seat while keeping the venue open-air and is projected to drop temperatures by up to 15°F on game day. In Jacksonville, in September. They knew their market and solved for it. A real game-changer. 5. Huntington Bank Field in Brook Park, OH (future home of Cleveland Browns) Still under construction, and worth watching closely at a $2.4B development. The playing field is being built 80 feet below grade. The front row will sit just 16 feet from the field, the closest in any #NFL stadium. I's already one of the most structurally ambitious builds in league history. I’ll be watching this one closely. A lot of exciting things are happening beyond these five too, and I can't wait to see what's in store for other venues in the years ahead. 👇 Drop a comment and tag your favorite stadium or sports venue below.

Ryan Z. liked thisIn honor of Bring Your Child to Work Day, we asked the children of some of our Bristol Myers Squibb colleagues what they think a CEO does. Their answers were brutally honest, occasionally accurate and, overall, refreshingly perceptive. While the work can be complex, the purpose is straightforward because patients are at the center. It all comes down to the pursuit of bold science to transform lives. 🚨NEW EPISODE: Recorded live at FUTURE TITANS 2026 - Jeff Perry of Carta sat down with the iconic Seth Levine, co-founder of Foundry. Seth has been in venture for 25 years, built Foundry from scratch as an emerging manager himself, and has backed about 50 emerging manager funds through his fund of funds. He has genuinely seen every side of this table. They went deep on building Foundry, why VCs are in the influence business, not the decision business, and why the concentration problem in venture is not only bad for LPs, but also for the innovation ecosystem overall. And why Seth's new book, Capital Evolution, is so important for the future of America. 🎧 Links to listen... Apple: https://lnkd.in/ehQUQ2EM Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eU4FExpg

I spoke with Christien Louviere of BDE Capital about his journey from a $330mm exit to becoming an independent sponsor. Christien shared excellent insights for folks looking to partner with business owners, rather than buy sellers out completely. Below are a few of the topics we covered: - Why he moved from “zero-to-one” startups to a buy-then-build strategy - How Christien's background shaped a focus on growth vs. cost-cutting - Why 20–40% rolled equity is central to his deal structures—and how it builds trust with sellers - Using scenario analysis with AI tools to evaluate management teams and uncover hidden key-person risks - How to identify when a $3–5M EBITDA company truly has a middle management layer—or is still founder-reliant For anyone investing in or buying small businesses, Christien’s approach provides a fresh lens on growth, alignment, and deal structuring. 🎥 Watch the full interview here → https://lnkd.in/ekfkaiej 🎧 Listen on Spotify: https://lnkd.in/e86Agx6V

Two weeks ago on Swimming with Allocators, we sat down with David Clark, CIO at VenCap, to talk about what decades of venture data can teach allocators. One takeaway that stood out: discounts don’t matter as much as people think in venture secondaries. Because venture is such a power-law asset class, outcomes are driven by exposure to a few massive winners. Whether a stake is bought at a small discount, or even a premium, often matters far less than the quality of the underlying company and its upside. Great conversation on venture returns, manager selection, and the nuances of how allocators should think about secondary investments. 👇 Link in the comments.

Big milestone for Firmable. We’ve raised $14m Series A led by Airtree. Sales has moved through a few big waves: intuition-led, CRM-led, data-led. We’re now entering the next one – intelligence-led sales. The opportunity isn’t just better data. It’s turning that data into clear direction and action, without adding more work for sales teams. That’s what we’re building at Firmable: a foundation of trusted external data, layered with intelligence that helps sellers know who to focus on and when. Led by Airtree, this round supports our expansion across Asia and into the US – and accelerates the build-out of AI agents that take the admin work off sales teams so they can focus on what they do best. Proud to share that Greenfield Partners has led GoodShip’s $25M Series B, combining forces with our friends at Bessemer Venture Partners, Ironspring Ventures, Chicago Ventures, and FUSE! For anyone who has managed freight, the pain is familiar: scattered data, reactive decisions, and too many spreadsheets. GoodShip is building a modern operating system that brings planning, procurement, and performance into one place so transportation teams can act faster with measurable results. By unifying data across systems, teams get real-time visibility and clearer levers. GoodShip is already trusted by the leading enterprise shippers like Tropicana, WK Kellogg, McCain Foods, and KBX Logistics. “The freight industry is moving toward a new operating standard, with GoodShip at the forefront of this shift” says Itay Inbar. “GoodShip is redefining a trillion-dollar industry with a novel approach and rapid AI innovation - unifying procurement and visibility in a platform that’s already proving its value at enterprise scale across the world’s largest shippers.” The team, led by Ryan Soskin and David Tsai, brings deep freight experience and a builder’s mindset, and it shows in every customer conversation. Already, we are hard at work with the GoodShip team in scaling their go-to-market. Our shared goal is straightforward: help more shippers move from reactive decision-making to confident execution. This is the start of an exciting journey ahead. Congratulations to Ryan, David, and the entire GoodShip team—I’m grateful for the partnership and energized for what comes next! Selling is often misunderstood as manipulating the customer to buy what you are selling. No, real selling is about figuring out what the customer needs. It starts with customer discovery. But to do that, you need to get the customer engaged in a conversation. For which you need to "sell" yourself as someone they care to speak with. How do you "earn the right to ask"? Focus on that challenge as the 1st step

🌱 Way beyond Offsets: Insetting is Collaborative Supply Chaining Half of Earth’s land is tied up in agriculture. Only 1% or so is regenerative. Our soils are still by and large running on empty. And yet, the greatest lever we have to heal ecosystems and future-proof supply chains sits right beneath our feet. We’ve spent decades outsourcing impact. Now, a new model is emerging...insetting where companies invest inside their own value chains. It’s not just better accounting. It’s a rewilding of responsibility. A return to relationship. 🔁 Insetting embeds action in farms, forests, fisheries. 📊 It offers visibility as transparency breeds trust, and trust scales change. 🌱 It builds anti-fragile supply chains by investing in regenerative ag, water cycles, biodiversity, and human dignity. 💰 It aligns incentives, turning suppliers into collaborators, not cost centers. 🌀 It’s bioregional by design being rooted in place, shaped by context, resilient to disruption. As we told the Financial Times nearly two years ago: “Now you’ve gone from planting trees in a country you probably haven’t visited… to incentivizing your suppliers to make key changes.” This isn’t just climate strategy. It’s strategic regeneration. 📖 FT: Is Carbon Insetting the Next Big Thing?: https://lnkd.in/ekDaxxYX 📰 Bloomberg: ‘Insets’ Are the New Offsets: https://lnkd.in/eTf9dNaw

“Platform” might be the most over-used term in enterprise software. Platform companies trade at hefty premiums and have driven most of the software market cap appreciation over the past five years. Everyone wants to be one. Pitch after pitch, we hear companies talk about their “platform opportunity,” regardless of what the product is or how it’s built. The bottom line is: companies can call themselves platforms all they want, but ultimately, the proof is in the P&L. New blog just dropped 🧠 Most VC firms don't have a deal flow problem. They have a signal processing problem. Everyone sees the same launches, the same founder activity, the same market data. The difference isn't who sees more. It's who makes sense of it faster. We wrote about why signal to conviction speed is becoming the real edge in venture and what that means for how investment teams should operate. Link in the comments. Would love to hear how other investors and operators think about this.

Each year, our team at TMV puts out an industry newsletter with our predictions for the year ahead in venture and tech, with a focus on our core verticals - Health + Bio, Supply Chain + Logistics. My prediction for 2026 read as follows: In 2023, “AI” shifted from science fiction to science project. In 2025, we saw the science projects evolve into viable, if not messy, business plans, high on potential and promise. In 2026, the widespread adoption of “everyday” AI ( ~13% of the world give or take, with America accounting for one third of all AI users by 2027) will lead to mass productivity and mass laziness simultaneously. Self-actualization and determination will never be as important as it is this year. Wheat from the chaff. At TMV HQ, we’re watching out for robotics applications that solve real problems—not mars-shots, rather automation that improves working conditions or expands access in underserved areas. We are also fascinated with AI-powered business support systems offering smaller operators the kind of strategic guidance previously reserved for Fortune 500s, especially when they're genuinely useful rather than glorified chatbots. And as AI displaces routine cognitive work, we're interested in platforms helping people redirect their time toward creative or meaningful pursuits (time to write the great American novel!), tools that facilitate transitions rather than optimizing obsolescence. Truly, the companies acknowledging displacement and actively helping people find new value will build deeper moats than those pretending disruption comes without human cost.

📣 When we first partnered with Evan Klein and the Zaelab team in 2023, we saw a clear opportunity: build the go-to partner for digital transformation across the manufacturing and distribution landscape. Zaelab has made incredible progress, accelerating growth and efficiency for its clients, expanding key relationships with platforms like Shopify and Logik.ai (now ServiceNow), and extending capabilities with the acquisition of Trellis. Now, we are excited to announce that Zaelab has merged with TMG, a company with deep manufacturing roots and a standout #Shopify B2B product, Fuse. Together with Zaelab’s own Portul Shopify solution, the combined platform is now the clear leader in the Shopify B2B space. With 350+ experts across commerce and CRM, Zaelab is helping clients drive digital transformation by leveraging modern platforms like Shopify and ServiceNow. The combined company does this through providing enterprises with the vision, scale, and execution capabilities that are best in class. Huge congrats to the teams at Zaelab and TMG! With Manifest: The Future of Supply Chain & Logistics 🚚 in full swing this week and supply chain + logistics top of mind, I’ve been reflecting on the pre-seed round in Ship Angel that our team at nvp capital co-led with our friends at Glasswing Ventures a little bit over a year ago. From our first meeting with Shipangel's founders Graham Parker and Dan Healy, their earned view of the market jumped off the page - which is one of our two most important founder traits. Graham had recently sold his company to one of the biggest, legacy players in the space at Descartes Systems and was fired up about building an AI-native competitor -- global TMS software should actually work for modern shippers. It is a market with more than five $1B+ legacy incumbents. But when you break it into core components like rate shopping, booking, and order audit, these map directly to where foundation models 🤖 are strongest. A purpose-built AI-native platform only gets better over time, both in workflow and in implementation, which has historically been the Achilles heel for startups in this space. ShipAngel is earning the trust of F500 shippers who treat global TMS selection as a core, long-term business decision - and we are excited for road ahead. If you see them this week at Manifest - make sure to check them out. 🚀 #SupplyChain #LogisticsTech #TMS #VerticalAI #EnterpriseSoftware #FreightTech #Manifest2026
