Jason Spero shared thisSuch strong validation of your model. Huge catalyst. LFG!!Jason Spero shared thisWe’re proud to share that Mombak has been selected for an investment of up to US$95M (BRL$500M) as part of the BNDESpar Chamada de Clima, a landmark initiative to channel climate finance into high-impact solutions. This partnership with BNDES is particularly meaningful for us, given the capital-intensive nature of long-term carbon removal projects. Support at this scale enables us to accelerate deployment, deepen impact, and continue building a robust platform for nature-based climate solutions. This selection is a recognition of Mombak’s execution track record, credibility, and sustainable business model — from field operations to investor confidence and market engagement. It underscores that we are building something that stands up to rigorous evaluation in one of the world’s leading climate finance ecosystems. We’re grateful to our partners who have supported us on this journey and excited about what lies ahead as we continue scaling carbon removal solutions that deliver real environmental and social impact. #ClimateFinance #CarbonRemoval #NatureBasedSolutions #BNDES #BNDESpar #ImpactInvesting

Jason Spero shared thisExcited to continue advise and support Quilt as they announce their $20M Series B. The thesis is clear: residential electrification needs products people actually want, not just products that are "better for the planet." Quilt has proven that thesis. Homeowner demand is up 394%, they've expanded to 16 states and 5 provinces, and customers love the product (4.9/5 satisfaction). But what excites me most is how they're thinking about the long game. Over-the-air updates that delivered 22% more capacity to every installed system. Occupancy detection that automatically saves energy in empty rooms. A partner network of 60+ installers who are passionate about the mission. This is how we accelerate the energy transition — with products that are genuinely better. Congrats to @Paul Lambert, @Matthew Knoll, and the entire Quilt team.Jason Spero shared thisThis milestone belongs to all of you. Today we're announcing Quilt has raised a $20M Series B, bringing our total funding to $64M. But this isn't really about the money. It's about what we're building together: proof that the energy transition is here, happening in homes right now, and it's better in every way. Growing up in Alberta, oil and gas was the economy. Our hockey teams are literally called the Oilers and the Flames. But while fossil fuels powered human progress for centuries, it's time for something better. The energy transition isn't some distant concept. It's June, a retiree who installed Quilt in her manufactured home to move off gas. It's Wilsons Heating in Nova Scotia — a 106-year-old business that transitioned from selling coal to installing Quilt heat pumps. And it's our 60+ Quilt Certified Partners who are the real backbone of this movement — educators and community builders bringing cleaner, more efficient comfort into homes one installation at a time. People are choosing Quilt not just because it's the right thing for the planet, but because it genuinely makes their lives better. We save people money, and the numbers tell the story: - 20% more efficient than the next-best ductless heat pumps - 80% more efficient at cooling than what most North Americans have today - 400% more efficient at heating than traditional systems In the past year, we've grown from the Bay Area to 16 states and 5 provinces. From zero installed products to nearly 1,000 — a number we'll surpass before the end of the year. This funding from Energy Impact Partners, Galvanize, Lowercarbon Capital, Gradient, Alumni Ventures, Incite.org and others unlocks faster growth and expanded impact. More service areas, and accelerated product development. We're also welcoming Tom vonReichbauer (former CFO of Nest, Sunrun, and ICON) and Veery Maxwell (co-head of Galvanize's Innovation + Expansion fund) to our board. But the real power of this community is what happens when you share your experience with neighbors, friends, and family. Every conversation about your Quilt system grows this movement. The energy transition comes home one installation at a time. Thank you for being part of our journey. Jason Spero shared thisShift to streaming is such a massive macro change. Impact on connection and engagement has implications for brands + content. But also brings a full reset on creativity (as storytelling changes) + identity (as we program more precisely) + societal connections (as we choose more). Hard to overstate how big a shift this is. https://lnkd.in/gEjnqckf

Jason Spero liked thisJason Spero liked thisToday we are launching Quilt Tools, a permanent home for partner-facing tooling featuring the most advanced remote diagnostics platform ever made for residential HVAC. I often talk internally about Quilt’s 3 Superpowers and this launch today ties all 3 together beautifully: *Superpower 1, Physical AI*. Every Quilt system has 10x as many sensors and 500x more computing power than the closest competitor. That data, that only Quilt has, and the ability to do sophisticated computation on it like system performance prediction and thermal modelling, is what makes this possible. It’s how we predict precisely when a system is going to break or tell an installer that they accidentally crossed wires or that they oversized an install. And the data is bidirectional – not only can our partners remotely understand the system, they often can remotely *fix* it as well. You’ve seen this capability in our OTAs that increase system capacity. This launch greatly expands those capabilities. The result is faster installations, fewer callbacks, and more comfortable homes – which saves money for both homeowners and partners. *Superpower 2, Product*. Quilt is at its core a product company. We care a *lot* about great user-centric design, thoughtful execution, and quality. Quilt is staffed by people who have built some of the most used and loved software platforms in the world. We have taken all that experience to create a top tier enterprise software platform in a space that had never received this level of TLC. Wait, did I just say we are launching an enterprise SaaS platform in 2026?? Yes – because what makes it powerful and unique is our fleet of connected systems and the data it produces, which no amount of token spend can ever reproduce. Coding Agents have greatly *deepened* our ability to produce a great product with unique and defensible value here, not reduced it. *Superpower 3, Partner Network*. Our channel partners and distribution network are our third superpower. Through them we have thousands of people in the field selling and installing Quilt every day. These are many of the best home services companies in North America. They are the face of Quilt and we hold just as high of a bar for partner performance and success as we do for our homeowner experience and products. And that’s 100% the focus of this launch – give our *partners* superpowers. We only succeed when they succeed and we want to give them every possible advantage to delight customers, grow their business, and accelerate heat pump adoption. All of this is thanks to the tireless efforts of many Quilters but especially Andrew Carl, David Bedingfield, and Bill Kee. And thank you to all our design partners who provided early feedback and are already using Quilt Tools in their daily work – this is for you. Hear from one of them, ARS Blueflame in Seattle, and how they are using Quilt Tools in their daily work in the first comment below.

Jason Spero liked thisJason Spero liked thisSomething we talk a lot about at Lowercarbon Capital is the simple and true fact that hardtech is hard, and so it attracts gritty founders who are not scared to do things that have just never been done before. I am deeply admiring of people who can marry a greater purpose with unbelievable engineering. The result of those years of work sometimes is a new kind of plane. This week Heart Aerospace flew a 25,000-pound airplane on batteries, which costs $5 worth of electricity for the whole flight. Their first plane, the ES-30, charges in 30 minutes and flies cheap enough to bring back the short routes airlines abandoned when fuel costs killed them (which is why they count United Airlines and Air Canada as pre-ordered customers). There are so many more nitty-gritty engineering details and benefits of a plane like Heart's that I'll skip for the purposes of LinkedIn, but you can believe that this was an insane feat and a huge milestone for a company we've backed since the seed. We are so proud and so glad to be along for the journey!

Jason Spero liked thisJason Spero liked thisWhen Alex Nichols and I first met Grant LaFontaine in 2020, I was immediately struck by both his bold vision for Whatnot, and his simultaneous ability to dive into every important operational detail. He and Logan Head have built an extraordinary team, executing on a hugely ambitious plan at incredible speed and scale globally. Whatnot is a massively powerful entrepreneurial platform where countless thriving businesses have been built. What's impressed me most across our 6-year partnership is the team's relentless operational execution on behalf of sellers--world-class AI tools, streamlined shipping infrastructure, and industry-leading trust and safety, helping sellers scale across hundreds of categories and international borders. Today, over a billion items have been sold on Whatnot. Their masterful vision and execution are why CapitalG has led three rounds and invested five times since 2021. With this $545 million Series G at a $20 billion valuation, Whatnot's impact on small business growth is remarkable. Over the past year, the number of sellers passing $1 million in lifetime sales has more than doubled, and the share of full-time sellers grew 25%. Halfway through 2026, Whatnot has already passed its entire 2025 GMV of over $8 billion, with total buyers also more than doubled. Congratulations to Grant LaFontaine, Logan Head and the entire Whatnot team. It has been a joy working with you, and we're honored to be in your corner for the long haul. So many teams are hitting the same wall: their AI is “good”, but never as good as their best people. Over the past few months at Escape Velocity Labs, we kept seeing this across sciences, professional services, law & finance, compliance-heavy operations, and the modern software stack — marketing, product, research, hiring, vendor selection. Everywhere accuracy actually matters, teams hit the same reality: at some point, you need your own model… and that’s exactly where the MLOps and infra pain begins. Every team needs to know where general-purpose models fall short. And any team that cares about production-grade accuracy and robustness eventually needs to fine-tune or post-train their own model. This is the gap we’ve been obsessed with solving — that's why we built Depura. Today, we’re unveiling it — and opening applications for our Design Partner Program. Depura lets domain experts directly teach and shape AI models using their own judgment through a clean, no-code, evaluation-driven workflow. Whether you’re refining a marketing voice, a hiring rubric, a compliance checklist, a quality review standard, or a complex research process… Depura captures the nuance your work demands — without needing to write code or understand how model training works under the hood. We’re inviting you to join a small group of founders, builders, and tinkerers to work closely with us as alpha users. Our founding team brings 50+ years of experience across product, engineering, and growth — with deep expertise in edge-case, accuracy-critical AI. As a design partner, you’ll get: - Early access to Depura’s evaluation & model refinement platform - White-glove onboarding and direct collaboration with our team - Real influence over our roadmap, UX, features, pricing ... and more - Compute & platform usage fully covered during the program (we pay while you train your model) - And like all Depura users: your trained model is yours to keep — export it, download it, or have us host it for you If you want your AI to reflect how your team actually thinks, here’s how to join: 1️⃣ Go to depura.ai 2️⃣ Enter your email to join the waitlist 3️⃣ Tick the box to apply as a Design Partner If you’re in my network, I’d really appreciate: - A follow for Depura and Escape Velocity Labs - A repost or comment on the official launch post - A reaction or share of this post And if you have AI or Web3 needs — integrations, workflows, agents, product/engineering/growth support, or getting applications fully embedded with AI — just DM me. We offer consulting, fractional, and build-for-hire services, and I’m happy to provide a free discovery session to understand what you’re working on and how we can help. Let’s bring real expertise back to the center of AI.

I’m thrilled to share Earthshot Ventures most recent investment, Unlimited Industries! Unlimited is an AI-native construction company that both designs and builds. Its platform can generate and evaluate hundreds of thousands of design configurations in parallel, automatically identifying optimal layouts for cost, safety, and performance before construction begins. Why did we invest? Solving a real need we know well: Over the last decade, we have worked with hundreds of companies that are ready to deploy their technology, but struggle with slow construction timelines and cost overruns. Unlimited makes it feasible for emerging infrastructure companies to bring projects to life reliably and efficiently. Massive market potential: The EPC market is ~$800B. While this entire market is not addressable from day one, early adopters will pave the way for the mass market, enabling massive possible scale over time. Exceptional team: The company is led by Alex Modon, a repeat founder and multidisciplinary engineer. To accelerate the company, Alex teamed up with Tara Viswanathan and Jordan Stern, who previously built and scaled Rupa Health as the founder/CEO and first teammate respectively, from zero to millions in revenue before its successful nine figure acquisition in 2024. Software is eating the world, and AI will eat engineering: Software engineering is increasingly being augmented and automated by AI, aided by large repositories of coding data like Github. Other engineering disciplines will be transformed over time as analogous data sets are compiled and software encodes the operating principles of the real world. Companies that can create proprietary datasets, like Unlimited’s burgeoning catalogue of projects, will gain defensibility through data moats. Lastly, since a good portion of my network here consists of founders who could be customers of Unlimited and their investors, I’d be remiss if I didn’t say - hit me up if you’d like to connect with Unlimited to deliver your next project on time, on budget! Welcome to the Earthshot portfolio, Unlimited!
