There's no use in describing the later part of summer, specifically the second half of August, as anything but very, very, extremely bright.

The sun is at its sunniest, or so it can feel, and those ol' Dog Days have got things mighty hot in all quarters and corners.
And yet? A different glow begins to emanate as September grows closer, the sort of shimmer that originates inside a classic jack o'lantern.
For it is in the scorchiest stretch of summer when tickets for Carved, the annual Descanso Gardens fall spectacular, go on shimmerful sale.
The 2025 event, which features thousands of glimmering pumpkins and seasonal displays fetchingly placed throughout the tree-filled destination, begins Oct. 3, with an on-sale ticket date for the general public launching Aug. 25.
As always, Descanso Gardens members will be able to buy their admissions a few days early; most members can purchase their tickets Aug. 20, with a few members having a crack at tickets even earlier.

The La Cañada Flintridge garden also shared details about Enchanted Forest of Light, its yearly holiday light spectacular. The glow-strong tradition will sparkle most nights from Nov. 16-Jan. 4, 2026, with Sept. 22 marked as the on-sale date for the general public (Sept. 17 for members).
"These events have become a seasonal highlight for so many, and we're excited to welcome our community back to celebrate the holidays with us," said Juliann Rooke, Chief Executive Officer of Descanso Gardens.
"This year, both Carved and Enchanted will offer new surprises while preserving the charm and beauty our guests have come to love."
