Movies filled with mystery, cinema swirling with snow and scares, and cultural experiences awash in an eerie aura will add Halloween-y complexity to our October adventures around Southern California.

WATCH HEREAnd few locations offer an elegantly eerie aura like the Million Dollar Theatre, the Downtown Los Angeles cinema that out-vintages just about every other vintage place in town.
Making it a most marvelous spot to view classic films set in an atmospheric old mansion, as well as the icy Overlook Hotel.
LA Conservancy is helming a pre-Halloween movie experience at the Million Dollar, with two films set to spookily shimmer two weeks before the haunting holiday.
That's Oct. 17, a Saturday, and tickets are now available for Last... Remains, the name of the two-part event.
For sure and right you are if you just guessed that the name Last... Remains is a seasonal spin on LA Conservancy's late-spring cinema series, Last Remaining Seats. The warm-weather tradition, which shimmers each June, is known for presenting beloved films screened inside some of our region's most regal movie palaces.

But it isn't June, and LA Conservancy's Oct. 17 screenings will be distinctly October-ish in tone: "Clue" is the 1 p.m. treat while "The Shining" roams the hotel hallways of our minds starting at 7 o'clock.
Each screening is priced separately, do note, and a general adult ticket is $25.
Movie lovers can expect that cinema groups around Los Angeles will soon honor actor Tim Curry, who passed away Aug. 26.
With that in mind, fans of the performer will find the afternoon "Clue" screening a lovely way to honor the icon, who starred in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," "Muppet Treasure Island," and, of course, the incredible "Clue," with Mr. Curry giving an energetic and antic-packed performance as Wadsworth.
More treats are ahead at the Oct. 17 event: If you're a member of LA Conservancy, be sure to join one of the Million Dollar Theatre tours. The in-depth, history-rich look-arounds are open to members and will take place before each movie, at 11 a.m. and 5 o'clock.
