SoCal Memorial Day ceremonies will include a parade and Palm Springs flower drop

Ceremonies, concerts, invocations, wreath placements, parades, and a moving flower drop will honor and remember those members of the U.S. Armed Forces who died while serving our country.

Several Southern California locations, museums, and cities pay tribute to the May holiday, which is taking place on May 25 in 2026, in stirring ways, with speeches, the laying of wreaths, live music, and powerful flyovers.

Canoga Park has held a Memorial Day parade and ceremony for well over three decades, and those looking to commemorate the poignant occasion gather along Sherman Way on the morning of the holiday.

The 2026 event will begin with a ceremony, which will include the playing of TAPS, a Memorial Wall wreath presentation, and speeches from dignitaries. The 10 a.m. ceremony takes place close to Sherman Way and Remmet Avenue, while the parade will start at 11 a.m., proceeding along Sherman Way.

The Palm Springs Air Museum is the place for a well-known tradition, one that involves the sky and a few thousand carnations: It's the Memorial Day Flower Drop, when 3,000 carnations are dropped from a B-25 Mitchell bomber.

The emotional flyover and drop, which features pink and white carnations, is "dedicated to all our fallen comrades," shares the museum. Guests are invited to pick up a flower to keep.

Be sure to purchase your ticket in advance and arrive early for the flight demonstrations. The flower drop is scheduled for the early part of the afternoon on May 25.

LA Fleet Week is taking pomp-filled place throughout Memorial Day Weekend around the LA Waterfront. The LA Fleet Week Memorial Day Observance and Closing Ceremony will start at 5 p.m. on May 25 near the Battleship IOWA.

And several Forest Lawn locations will hold ceremonies on Memorial Day, including Cathedral City, Long Beach, and Hollywood Hills.
