    SC transfers all petitions challenging online gaming law to itself

    The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) sought a transfer of three pending cases from the high courts to the apex court on the grounds that different HCs may arrive at inconsistent findings on the same Central legislation.

    Karnataka HC defers hearing on online gaming law pending clarity on SC hearing

    Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the Karnataka High Court that the Centre had filed a petition in the apex court seeking transfer of pending petitions in HCs on the subject to itself. A writ petition was filed by Head Digital Works, the parent company of online gaming platform A23, challenging the law banning online real-money games. Other petitions on this matter are pending before the Delhi and Madhya Pradesh HCs.
