    This page enables administrators to handle requests for permissions on the English Wikipedia. Administrators are able to modify account creator, autopatrolled, confirmed, file mover, extended confirmed, mass message sender, new page reviewer, page mover, pending changes reviewer, rollback, and template editor rights, and AutoWikiBrowser access.

    Editors wishing to request a permission flag here should do so following the procedure below. Editors requesting permissions are advised to periodically revisit the requests page, as notifications will not always be given after a decision is made. Editors should not expect their request to be answered right away and should remember to be patient when filing a request. To find out what permissions your account has, go to Special:Preferences, where your permissions are listed in the user profile tab under "Member of groups".

    • Account creator (add request · view requests): The account creator flag is granted to users who are active in the request an account process. The flag removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24 hour period. It also allows users to make accounts with names similar to other accounts. The account creator flag is only given to users who participate in the ACC process and may be removed without notice should a user's participation in the account creation process cease.
    • Autopatrolled (add request · view requests): The autopatrolled flag is granted to users who are active in the creation of new articles. This tool is granted so their creations are auto patrolled in Special:NewPages. Unlike other requests, any user may nominate an editor for Autopatrolled, even without that user's consent. A user who wishes to have this flag generally should have created at least 25 articles and must be trusted, experienced, and must have demonstrated they are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, especially WP:BLP and Wikipedia:Notability.
    • AutoWikiBrowser (add request · view requests): AutoWikiBrowser is a semi-automated MediaWiki editor for Windows, designed to make tedious repetitive tasks quicker and easier. It is essentially a browser that automatically opens up a new page when the last is saved. When set to do so, it suggests some changes (typically formatting) that are generally meant to be incidental to the main change. Please read the rules of use and registration requirements on the main page before requesting permission. This is not a true user right, but access needs to be granted by administrators just like other permissions. If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. Users with under 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits are rarely approved. You will need to give a reason for wanting AWB access.
    • Confirmed (add request · view requests): The confirmed flag may be granted to new users who have not yet hit the threshold for autoconfirmed status. These are users who have not had both 10 edits and 4 days experience. People with this flag can upload files and edit semi-protected pages before hitting the autoconfirmed flag. Users requesting this flag must indicate clearly why they should be exempted from the customary confirmation period.
    • Event coordinator (add request · view requests): The event coordinator user right allows editors to create multiple new accounts, and to temporarily confirm accounts so that they can create new articles.
    • Extended confirmed (add request · view requests): The extended confirmed flag is normally automatically added to accounts after 500 edits and 30 days, but may be added to legitimate alternate accounts of users that already have this access. The flag allows users to edit pages under extended confirmed protection.
    • File mover (add request · view requests): The file mover user right is intended to allow users experienced in working with files to rename them, subject to policy, with the ease that autoconfirmed users already enjoy when renaming Wikipedia articles.
    • Mass message sender (add request · view requests): Mass message sender enables users to send messages to multiple users at once. This flag is given to users who have made requests for delivery in the past, clearly showing an understanding of the guidance for use.
    • New page reviewer (add request · view requests): The new page reviewer user right allows users to mark pages as patrolled and use the page curation toolbar. At administrators' discretion, the right may be accorded on a time limited basis or indefinite.
    • Page mover (add request · view requests): The page mover user right allows users experienced in working with article names to move them, subject to policy, without leaving behind a redirect. They may also move all subpages when moving the parent page(s). General guidelines include making 3,000 edits and 6 months of editing history. At administrators' discretion, the right may be accorded on a time limited basis or indefinite.
    • Pending changes reviewer (add request · view requests): The reviewer flag is granted to users who are experienced enough with Wikipedia editing and its policies for contributing to the process of reviewing articles placed under pending changes.
    • Rollback (add request · view requests): Rollback enables users to remove vandalism much more quickly and efficiently than by undoing it. Users who do not demonstrate an understanding of what constitutes capable vandalism fighting, either because they have no or little history of doing so, or show a poor ability to discern between good and bad faith edits will not be granted this right. Also, it is unlikely that editors with under 200 mainspace edits will have their request granted.     • Template editor (add request · view requests): The template editor flag allows users to edit protected templates and Lua modules. General guidelines for granting include making at least 1,000 edits overall (with at least 150 to templates or modules), being a registered user for over a year, and having a record of successfully proposing significant edits to several protected templates. Users should demonstrate proficiency with template syntax and an understanding of the need for caution when editing heavily-used templates.
    • Temporary account IP viewer (add request · view requests): Temporary account IP viewers are able to view the IP address information associated with temporary accounts.

    The requests for permissions process is not used to review or remove user rights:

    The bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight permissions are removed at meta:Steward requests/Permissions. Stewards will typically not carry out such requests unless they are made on behalf of the Arbitration Committee, by a user who is requesting their own access be removed, or in cases of an emergency.

    To make a request for a permission, click "add request" next to the appropriate header and fill in the reason for wanting the permission.

    Administrators are permitted to grant account creator, autopatrolled, confirmed, event coordinator, file mover, mass message sender, new page reviewer, page mover, pending changes reviewer, rollback and template editor flags to any user who meets the criteria explained above and can be trusted not to abuse the tool(s). Administrators may either grant these permissions permanently or temporarily. For convenience, a bot will automatically comment with relevant data if the user does not meet configurable qualifications. Even if the bot does not comment, administrators should review the user's contributions and logs to ensure the tools will be used appropriately and check for any indication of potential misuse.

    Once an administrator has granted a permission or decided to deny a request, they should add {{done}} or {{not done}} respectively under the request with their comments. If a user already has the requested permission, or is autoconfirmed and requesting confirmed, {{already done}} should be used. N hours after the last comment was made (as specified by the config), the request will be archived automatically: approved requests will be placed here; declined requests will go here.     Other editors

    Requests for permissions is primarily intended for editors requesting a permission for their own account. Other editors are welcome to comment if they have specific information that is relevant to that request that a patrolling administrator is unlikely to discover for themselves. Otherwise, since only administrators can effectively respond to these requests, general comments or 'clerking' by other users are rarely helpful. Non-administrators cannot "decline" to grant a request, because they're not in a position to accept it.

    A limited exception to this is Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled, where third party nominations are encouraged. Other editors should still avoid offering general remarks on requests and leave the final decision to an administrator.

    I have a few issues with some of their articles. Planet Zoo: Arctic Pack has multiple unreliable sources (WP:VG/S), such as TheXboxHub and Impulse Gamer. Comments like this also don't fill me with confidence, as it shows they are not sure that articles they've authored meet the (admittedly stricter) notability guidelines of the WP:VG project. 23/41 of their articles are WP:STUBS, which are usually not too time-consuming for reviewers. (Whilst they did get Lego Life to GA, they did not author the article itself). My opinion obviously has little to no bearing on the decision here, but I think these factors demonstrate a need for continued second-looks, at least for the time being.     I don't agree. It is the original author who assesses whether a topic (in this case Lego Life) is notable. Overhauling an existing article does not demonstrate that ability, which is required for AP.     @Dclemens1971 While there are no reviews it is because the game is still upcoming and was recently announced. Articles analyzing it are linked in the sources (which you mentioned) and it is part of an already notable video game series so there is probably room for expansion. Could you elaborate a bit more on why you think it might not be notable? If you don't think it is you are welcome to nominate it at AFD.     @NewAccount7295 Here's my analysis on it. It hasn't been released yet, but like many games it gets pre-release coverage. In this case, the coverage is based on Atari's press release and promotional materials -- it has to be, since there's no game to experience or review. As a result, the coverage you've included isn't actually independent of the subject since it's solely based on information released by the game producer. Now, I'd anticipate that the game is likely to become notable once reviews trickle in, but it doesn't appear to have passed a notability guideline when you created it. (If there isn't qualifying coverage now, I'd suggest draftifying instead of AfD.) Dclemens1971 (talk) 21:30, 29 August 2026 (UTC)reply
    I think @Dclemens1971's analysis is spot on. It's great that @A412 believes you have put out enough for AP, but over the past week or so, I've observed some serious issues with your knowledge of notability, @NewAccount7295. For one instance, at a recent AfD you counted a WP:VALNET source as SIGCOV when VG/S specifically makes clear that Valnet owned sources are not considered as such. My concern is that such articles based entirely on such sources could end up bypassing NPP were you to have this permission. I don't think now is the right time. This is a highly scrutinised perm and for good reason. (Sorry if this comes across as harsh, unfortunately it is the reality. You're doing great work.     @NewAccount7295, please put aside 11WB’s comments as they will not be making any decision here. Do you have any thoughts on my analysis of the notability of the subject discussed above? My instinct is to decline the perm request at present because I do not think the Roller Coaster Tycoon article should have been created in this state (and its creation is so recent), but I’m interested in your perspective in case there’s anything you think I missed.     @Dclemens1971 A lot of the subjects I edit are of borderline notability, so I am okay not having it. You may decline it. (Plenty of upcoming video games have articles given their announcements have had coverage. As I said before, if you feel there isn't enough (I think it can be expanded with the current source) nominate it for draftification. I am okay with that. The DYK regulars are also pros at notability, and by reviewing/promoting there I suspect you'll gain greater awareness of our notability standards. Another way to develop your skills in this area and assist new article creators is by reviewing articles at Articles for Creation.     I have been editing the English Wikipedia for over three years, with about 2,500 overall edits, and have created more than 70 mainspace articles. I regularly create sourced articles, particularly on historical, archaeological and biographical subjects. I am familiar with Wikipedia's policies on notability, verifiability, biographies of living persons, copyright and NPOV. My article creations generally do not require substantive New Page Patrol cleanup. I am requesting autopatrolled rights to reduce the New Pages Patrol workload due to existing strain.     I understand that autopatrolled is mainly about whether my new articles can safely bypass New Page Patrol. I am taking the concerns raised at AIN seriously and am going back over older articles where specific problems have been pointed out. I have commented at the noticeboard and begun reviewing three articles identified there: I have already revised Bayt al-Dhakira wal-Turath to remove redundant and over-attributed prose, and revised Hani al-Hayek's article with new material reflecting his activities since the page's creation. I would deal with the Saeed al-Amour article later this week.
    I would appreciate it if this request could also be judged on the basis of my recent editing and current practice rather than examples of LLM usage from 2025 and early 2026, which predate the March 2026 change to WP:LLM. Since that time I have not used AI to generate article prose; and my LLM assistance is confined to the permitted use for translation from another-language (Arabic/Hebrew) Wikipedia for missing articles in English, with manual review and revision, with disclosure in edit summaries and/or talk pages.     That just means that users won't be retroactively sanctioned for breaking the NOLLM guideline, old text is not "grandfathered in", and it is definitely relevant when considering granting Autopatrolled to to someone. And it is also demonstrably false that you stopped using AI after NOLLM was passed in March because Diff/1343935605 is from April, and would have violated the older NEWLLM version of the guideline as well. ‑‑gurkubondinn 11:27, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply

    Thanks for raising this. I have commented at AIN and gone back through the three artcles mentioned there. I have already revised Bayt al-Dhakira wal-Turath and Hani al-Hayek in response to the concerns raised, and I will review Saeed al-Amour early next week as well.
    I did use LLMs in some articles in 2025 and early 2026. After I recieved guidance on Wikipedia's LLM policies in March, I changed my practice and have limited LLM use to permitted purposes, mainly translation, with manual source checking, revision and disclosure.
    I have been editing the English Wikipedia for more than three years, with 2,500+ edits. I would appreciate it if the request could be assessed on my recent creations and current editing practice.Omnipup1 (talk) 18:21, 26 August 2026 (UTC)reply

    Dear @Dclemens1971, I believe assuming good faith is key. People may need to be advised on wiki regulations they might have been ill-informed before, like I may have been with regard to early articles I've contributed, but I have since then kept a good standing with significant contributions of primarily historical/geographic, archaeological and linguistic data in a field of Levantine and Israel/Palestine related subjects which are otherwise desiderata on Wikipedia.     I already have some experience with making changes using semi-automatic tools (and even my automatic bot) I build myself with PyWikiBot, but it would be a lot easier if I didn't have to write an entire program each time I want to make new edits.

    Hello! I recently saw this tool pop while looking at my watchlist and I decided I kind of need this. I make articles and heavily expand articles during my pasttime, and sometimes wrong grammar slips by whenever I make/edit these articles. One of the hardest ones to spot are the typos and double letters. I would mostly use the AWB just so I could check the grammar on the articles I've edited and some others as well. This is just so that not another editor has to fix a typo I made for some time ago. If you would like some more information, I would happily oblige.     Welcome to the project's back rooms, @Eranrexiv. Can you comment on what makes Eric A. Hurley notable? And why Warren Carter's Instagram feed is a reliable source for Carl Jones' birth date? I have to look at article creation because there's no evidence here of participation at WP:AFD, WP:CSD, or WP:WPAFC, which are the primary ways potential reviewers can demonstrate their knowledge of applicable policies and guidelines.     No response to this question even though the editor has been active elsewhere on the project. In addition to the LLM-generated !vote, as I reviewed their article creations, I found an instance of close paraphrasing (see here) and an article that does not demonstrate notability and has missing citations, while Primestars includes promotional language. These are all things we need patrollers to be able to spot in their own creations before they can patrol others'. Dinitrify's AfD participation unfortunately does not give me confidence in their understanding of our policies and guidelines. Their !votes do not engage with the nomination, show no evidence of engaging with sources, or are entirely unclear ("keep per nom" when the nomination was for deletion).  Not done based on these concerns and a lack of responsiveness to a legitimate question.     Hello. There are no album reviews of Dead Company to be found in the article (or online) yet, because the album is not released until November...
    The chaptor "Unreleased material" states that a similar article may qualify for an article if there is sufficient verifiable and properly referenced information about it, which is the case here in my opinion.:o)
    Adoption of the euro in Malta : I checked all sources, and even replaced a dead link, before the review. The web pages of the last 2 references can't be opened anymore indeed; it looks like coincidally, there is a recent reachability problem with that server/domain.

Overall, this is not enough of a track record to respond favorably to your request.  Not done at this time. I'd like to see a consistent (and relatively recent) participation at AfD and/or a track record of article creation that demonstrates knowledge of our notability and article quality guidelines. Patrollers are expected to notice when articles are missing citations and their creations should generally be free of these kinds of problems. I understand that my main account already has Page mover privileges, but I am requesting the same privilege for this account because I need to move pages to the Draft namespace without leaving redirects. This would grant me to carry out such moves more efficiently and without unnecessary issues.
    Some editors create new articles directly in the mainspace even when the articles are incomplete or clearly not ready for acceptance. This creates additional work for New Page Patrol (NPP), as these pages need to be reviewed and, where appropriate, draftified in accordance with WP:DRAFTIFY.
    I am requesting the Page mover permission so that I can help move such articles to the Draft namespace without leaving unnecessary redirects. This would also avoid the need to tag the resulting redirect for deletion or nominate it under R2 when the redirect is not useful.
