According to outage tracker Downdetector, reports of connectivity issues started around 10:44 am and peaked at 12:14 pm, with over 7,000 users unable to make calls or use the internet.
This marks the second major outage for Airtel within a week. On August 19, a similar disruption impacted more than 3,500 users across India.
How the outage hit users
Downdetector data shows:- 52% reported problems with calling
- 32% faced internet access issues
- 17% experienced a complete network blackout
Social media flooded with complaints
Frustrated users took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight the disruption. One user posted, “@airtelindia your mobile network is completely down in our area… broadband works fine but the complaint system itself is failing.”Another wrote, “Airtel network down across Karnataka since morning. No calls, no internet. Fix this ASAP.”
A third user criticized the lack of accountability, saying, “If we miss a bill payment for a day, data is disconnected. But when Airtel services fail, there’s no penalty.”
Others took a lighter tone, calling the outage a “forced digital detox.”
As of now, Airtel has not issued an official statement explaining the cause of the outage.
