What do the leaked S26 Edge images show?
The renders, shared by well-known leaker OnLeaks in partnership with Android Headlines, reveal a phone that could be Samsung’s boldest redesign in years. The Galaxy S26 Edge is said to have super-slim bezels and a horizontal camera island with two lenses, moving away from the vertical triple-camera setup of the S25 Edge.Interestingly, this design shift draws comparisons to the much-talked-about iPhone 17 Pro dummy models seen at IFA 2025. The only major difference? Apple is rumoured to stick with a triple-camera system, while Samsung seems to be going with just two.
How thin is too thin?
Another talking point is just how slim the Galaxy S26 Edge could be. Leaks suggest it may measure only 5.5mm thick (10.8mm with the camera bump), making it one of the thinnest smartphones ever, and thinner than the already sleek S25 Edge. Reports also hint at built-in Qi2 charging magnets, something iPhone and Pixel devices have had for a while. The S26 Edge could also replace the “Plus” model in Samsung’s line-up, marking a big shake-up in naming and design strategy.
Apple’s ‘Awe Dropping’ event is next
All eyes, however, are on Apple’s September 9 event. Kicking off at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (10:30 p.m. IST), the showcase will unveil the iPhone 17 series, including the rumoured iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apple is widely expected to drop the “Plus” variant altogether in favour of a thinner model.New AirPods and other accessories may also share the stage, making it a classic Apple-style spectacle.
Who’s copying who?
With Samsung’s leaked design looking uncannily close to Apple’s upcoming flagship, the inevitable debate has already begun: is Samsung taking inspiration from Apple, or is it simply the other way round? One thing is certain, with both tech giants pushing ultra-thin designs, 2025 might just be the year of the slimmest smartphones we’ve ever seen.
