The central government has announced the early disbursement of August, 2025, salaries, wages and pensions for its employees and pensioners in Maharashtra and Kerala on account of the upcoming Ganapati and Onam festivals, respectively.

In 2025, the Ganapati festival, also known as Ganesh Chaturthi, will fall on August 27, 2025.
In an Office Memorandum dated August 22, 2025, the Ministry of Finance said, “In view of the 'Ganapati' festival, the Government has decided that the salary of all Central Government employees in the State of Maharashtra for the month of August 2025 may be drawn and disbursed by the Central Government offices (including Defence, Posts & Telecommunications) on August 26, 2025 (Tuesday).”
The central government said that it would release the August 2025 salary of all central government employees in Kerala, including those in Defence, Posts, and Telecommunications, in advance on August 25, 2025, Monday, ahead of the Onam festival.
In an Office Memorandum dated August 21, 2025, the Ministry of Finance said, “In view of the 'ONAM' festival, the Government has decided that the salary/wages/pension of all Central Government employees in the State of Kerala may be drawn and disbursed by the Central Government offices (including Defence, Posts & Telecommunications) on 25-08-2025 (Monday).”
The wages of the industrial employees of the central government serving in the State of Kerala may also be disbursed in advance as per the date given above, the circular said.
Further, the salary, wage and pension disbursals will be treated as advance payments, the ministry said in the statement. "The salary/wages/pension so disbursed is to be treated as advance payments and will be subject to adjustment after the full month’s salary/wages/pension of each employee/pensioner is determined. The adjustment, if any, will be made without exception from the salary/wages/pension of the month of August/September 2025," the Ministry of Finance said in the Memorandum.
The ministry has requested the Reserve Bank of India to bring these instructions to the notice of paying branches of all banks in Kerala and Maharashtra for necessary action immediately.
