The quarter-finals of the US Open are in full swing with Novak Djokovic already through to the last four. He beat Taylor Fritz in four sets overnight to set up a blockbuster semi-final showdown with Carlos Alcaraz. The match was not without controversy, though, with Djokovic facing a hostile crowd and furiously confronting the umpire over the noise.

Felix Auger-Aliassime will face Alex de Minaur later today, with the winner of that match going up against Jannik Sinner or Lorenzo Musetti. On the women's side, Aryna Sabalenka is safely through after Marketa Vondrousova withdrew from their quarter-final meeting before it began. She picked up a knee injury and chose to concede the match following her warm-up on the practice courts.

Anisimova: 'Today proved everything'

It was redemption for Amanda Anisimova at her home Grand Slam tournament.

Less than two months ago, she suffered a heartbreaking 6-0 6-0 defeat to Iga Swiatek in her maiden Major final at Wimbledon.

Now, she's beaten Swiatek 6-4 6-3 to reach the US Open semis.

Afterwards, Anisimova explained: "Yeah, I mean, playing here is so freaking special and I’ve been having the run of my life here.

"I mean, the first day I got here, I was like, ‘Okay let’s try and get through one round’. This has been such a dream, and to come back from Wimbledon like that, it’s really special to me.

"I feel like I worked so hard to try and turn around from that, and, I mean, today proved everything for me. I can do it. So this is really special."

Anisimova stuns Swiatek to get revenge

Amanda Anisimova is through to her third Grand Slam semi-final, and her first on home soil, after getting revenge over Iga Swiatek.

It’s been less than eight weeks since Swiatek double-bagelled Anisimova in the Wimbledon final.

But the No. 8 seed bounced back to win their US Open quarter-final, coming back from an early break down in both sets to win 6-4 6-3.

Anisimova got it done on a lucky net cord and covered her hand with her mouth, apologising to Swiatek. But she celebrated properly after the handshake, waving to the fans in delight.

De Minaur 'seeing red' after 'wasted opportunity'

Alex de Minaur admitted his four-set defeat to Felix Auger-Aliassime was a big "wasted opportunity".

The Aussie now has a 0-6 record in Grand Slam quarter-finals, and he felt this was one of his best chances to reach the last four.

“Right now, I'm looking at this like a wasted opportunity. It's tough,” the No. 8 seed said after losing a gruelling four-hour and 10-minute match.

De Minaur blew a 5-2 lead in the fourth set to lose 4-6 7-6 7-5 7-6 and added: “I feel like this one was on my racket, and it is a shame. I don't know how I'll handle it. I'm definitely, as of right now, seeing red, but yeah, I'll get over it. It's just tennis, right?”

Anisimova in the lead

After her Wimbledon heartache, Amanda Anisimova is clearly out for revenge.

She was double-bagelled by Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon final just a few weeks ago, but she's just taken the first set of their US Open quarter-final 6-4.

The No. 8 seed looks determined, and she's already hit 13 winners to seven from Swiatek.

Not so fast!

Amanda Anisimova has just broken Iga Swiatek to get back on serve and end her run of games lost to the world No. 2.

After Swiatek handed her a double bagel in the Wimbledon final, it was always going to be tough for the American to overcome that mental hurdle when they met again. After getting broken in the opening game of their US Open quarter-final, she’s just broken back.

Tough start for Anisimova in grudge match

Amanda Anisimova suffered a bruising 6-0 6-0 defeat to Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon final just a few weeks ago. It was just the second double-bagel Wimbledon final, and the first in the Open Era.

They’re now facing off again in the US Open quarter-final, and it’s another tough start for Anisimova, who has been broken in the opening game of the match.

Auger-Aliassime reaches semi-finals

Felix Auger-Aliassime is through to his second Grand Slam semi-final, four years after he did it for the first time!

The Canadian No. 25 seed came back from 2-5 down in the fourth set to defeat Alex de Minaur 4-6 7-6(7) 7-5 7-6(4) in a gruelling four-hour and 10-minute match.

He now faces either Jannik Sinner or Lorenzo Musetti for a place in Sunday’s final.

Stojsavljevic keeps title defence alive

British teenager Mika Stojsavljevic is the reigning junior girls' champion at the US Open.

She's back in the draw to try and defend her title this year as the No. 9 seed. And she pulled off an impressive comeback against Jana Kovackova to reach the quarter-finals.

From 0-4 down in the final set, Stojsavljevic won seven of the last eight games to seal a 5-7 6-1 7-5 victory.

Vondrousova speaks out after withdrawal

Marketa Vondrousova has taken to social media to reflect on her run in Flushing Meadows after it was cut short when she withdrew less than two hours before her quarter-final match on Tuesday.

The 2023 Wimbledon champion, who has fallen to No. 60 in the world after taking time off due to injuries, upset top-10 stars Jasmine Paolini and Elena Rybakina on her way to the last eight, but pulled out injured before facing world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Vondrousova wrote: "two weeks of tennis, emotions, smiles, and yes… a few tears too.

"so grateful for the people who make this crazy journey so special the ending was tough, but honestly… these were some of the best weeks of my life."

Auger-Aliassime moves ahead

After three hours and 11 minutes of play, Felix Auger-Aliassime has taken the third set of his quarter-final match against Alex de Minaur, and he now leads 4-7 7-6(7) 7-5.

The Canadian reached his only Grand Slam semi-final here four years ago. Can he do it again?

Alcaraz responds to Murray dig

Carlos Alcaraz is set to take on Masters winner Sergio Garcia in a round of golf on his day off today.

The world No. 2 said he would need Garcia to give him 10 to 15 shots if he wanted to have a chance of winning, but Andy Murray tweeted: "I gave him about 12 shots and smoked him so I’d imagine Sergio would need to give him 25."

Alcaraz has now replied, suggesting Murray only won their round of golf because they didn't play one-on-one. And he's set the retired tennis star a challenge.

"You only beat me because your partner was good! You brave enough to play me at singles?" the five-time Major winner asked.

Auger-Aliassime levels the score

Felix Auger-Aliassime has levelled the score with Alex de Minaur in their quarter-final match.

It's been two hours and 16 minutes, and we're only at one-set all in the first match of the day on the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Auger-Aliassime came from a break down during the 88-minute set, and also saved a set point in the tiebreak. It's now 4-6 7-6(7).

Daniil Medvedev's ex-coach addresses split

Daniil Medvedev and his long-time coach Gilles Cervara have parted ways after almost a decade together.

Cervara has now spoken out about their split, telling Tennis Majors he had been considering leaving Medvedev's camp for a while, believing the former world No. 1 needed something new. Ultimately, it was Medvedev who posed the question. But they parted ways on good terms.

Cervara explained: “I kept thinking about it. I talked to Daniil after the US Open. He himself raised the idea: ‘After eight years, maybe it’s time for something different’.

“I said to him: ‘Listen, that’s exactly what needs to happen in my opinion, because I don’t think I can continue to make you perform in the energy state we’re in right now. You need something new, something different, to transform’.”

Hannah Klugman wins again

British teenager Hannah Klugman has come from a set down again to advance in the junior girls' singles draw at the US Open.

The No. 2 seed beat Julie Pastikova 1-6 6-3 6-4.

Klugman is through to the quarter-finals to face Julia Stusek.

De Minaur 'needs Sinner to lose'

Alex de Minaur is two sets away from a maiden Grand Slam semi-final. He's 6-4 up on Felix Auger-Aliassime in his US Open quarter-final.

If he wins, De Minaur will face either Jannik Sinner or Lorenzo Musetti on Friday.

But Emma Raducanu's former coach Mark Petchey believes De Minaur needs Sinner to lose if he wants to advance to his first Slam final.

“His game style, not his work ethic, not anything else, is probably going to be the one thing that sort of makes a speed bump. Can he make a semi? Absolutely. Can he win one? Yes, he can but he's probably going to need either Sinner or Alcaraz to lose at some point because I'm not sure he's going to be able to get past both of them,” he told OLBG.

“Certainly, in his previous meetings with Jannik, it's been pretty tough going for him.”

Taylor Fritz makes unforced error

Taylor Fritz suffered a four-set defeat to Novak Djokovic on Tuesday night. And the errors started before he'd even stepped onto the court, as he arrived with his headband upside down.

The Boss logo on his headband was the wrong way up, and appeared to say 'SSOB' instead.

After the match, Fritz jokingly tweeted: "Yo why’d nobody tell me that s*** was backwards."

Andy Murray 'smoked' Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jiri Lehecka in the US Open quarter-finals on Tuesday, and how has two days to prepare for his semi-final showdown with Novak Djokovic.

The world No. 2 was watched by Masters winner Sergio Garcia yesterday, and told the Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd that they'd already booked a round of golf for Wednesday. But Alcaraz claimed he'd need Garcia to give him 15 shots so he could win.

However, Andy Murray has now claimed Alcaraz will need a little more help, after "smoking" the five-time Major winner when they played a round earlier this summer.

The 2012 US Open champion tweeted: "I gave him about 12 shots and smoked him so I’d imagine Sergio would need to give him 25."

Novak Djokovic wants to spoil Sinner and Alcaraz party

Novak Djokovic will face Carlos Alcaraz in Friday's semi-final. If he beats the Spaniard, he could well face world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the championship match.

Alcaraz and Sinner have met in the last two Major finals and many are expecting them to face off for the US Open title come Sunday, but Djokovic wants to ruin that.

"We don't need to spend words about the two of them. We know that they are the two best players in the world," he said.

"Everybody is probably expecting and anticipating the finals between two of them. I'm going to try to, you know, mess up the plans of most of the people."

Venus Williams addresses future

Venus Williams has shared her upcoming plans after she and Leylah Fernandez crashed out in the US Open women's doubles quarter-final. The 45-year-old returned from a 16-month break in Washington a few weeks ago, but her schedule is now up in the air.

"I don't know. I was so focused on this tournament here. I really felt like we had a chance to really continue to play into the tournament," she explained.

"So I haven't given that any thought. I do have commitments, you know, places I said I'd be, people expecting me to be there, like, the next few weeks. So I have to go and show up.

"But I'm very serious about my commitments. I would never want to cancel now, so I'll try to keep those. If there is opportunity for me to play, then hopefully I can get back somewhere this year. I just don't know. I really don't."

Taylor Fritz reflects on missed chances

Taylor Fritz has opened up on the disappointment of losing to Novak Djokovic in the US Open quarter-finals.

He said: "I had so many more chances that you are not going to see on the stat line because I was in points at 0-30, 15-30, 30-30 and I was just playing these points really poorly.

"When it comes down to the break points themselves, I would say that out of the 10, I think I converted on the 11th.

"I would say the first 10 I would say that five or six of them he played pretty well and it’s tough for me to do too much.

"Four of them I just played a bad point or was too conservative or just pulled the trigger on the wrong time. It was just bad decision making because I was not playing as well as I would have wanted to.

"It’s a little bit tough in those pressure situations to know what I want to do, if it’s not really working for me."

Nick Kyrgios makes Aryna Sabalenka comment

Nick Kyrgios doesn't think he will need to be at 100 per cent to beat Aryna Sabalenka in their upcoming exhibition match.

The two players will take part in a one-off 'battle of the sexes' ahead of next year's Australian Open.

Looking ahead to the match, Kyrgios said: "She's the type of player that I think she genuinely thinks she's going to win.

"She's not going to beat me, bro. Do you really think I have to try 100 per cent?

"[I will] definitely [try hard] because I'm representing, I guess, the men's side.

"I would say [the score will be] 6-2. I think I'm going to be OK. I'm going to try. I don't want her to win."

Drake places huge US Open bet

Canadian rapper Drake has placed a huge bet on Jannik Sinner to win the US Open.

He has wagered $300,000 (£223,802) on the Italian going all the way at Flushing Meadows.

Drake is known for his lavish betting, having previously lost $1m (£745,980) during the World Cup in 2022.

He surrendered even more money when Israel Adesanya was beaten by Alex Pereira at UFC 281.

Andy Roddick predicts US Open champion

Andy Roddick is convinced that Jannik Sinner will deliver the goods at the US Open.

On his podcast, Roddick said: "I’ve still got Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz making the final.

"And then I have Sinner over Alcaraz. Carlos has maybe been playing better in the tournament but that doesn’t matter, it’s about the match-up for me.

"They’re both playing well, they’re both striping the ball, we’re not worried about either of them.

"I think Alcaraz has looked better but that doesn’t matter at all to me. The eyeball test matters to me less than the match-up test."

Carlos Alcaraz warns Novak Djokovic

Carlos Alcaraz has revealed that he wants revenge over Novak Djokovic for his quarter-final defeat at the Australian Open.

On that occasion, the veteran Serb came from behind to beat his Spanish rival in four sets.

Looking ahead to their semi-final showdown at the US Open, Alcaraz said: "We all know Novak's games.

"It doesn't matter that he has been out of the tour since Wimbledon playing great matches here. I know he's hungry.

"I know his ambition for more, so let's see. I know he I played a lot of times against him. I really want to [get] revenge."

Naomi Osaka shrugs off retirement talk

Naomi Osaka has insisted that she is not planning to walk away from tennis any time soon.

The former US Open champion will face Karolina Muchova for a place in the semi-finals tonight.

"It’s one thing to say it, but I think to actually do it, to hang up my racket for me permanently would be a very scary thing," said Osaka.

"I’ve been playing this sport since I was three. I tell people it’s like breathing air to me. I wouldn’t really know what to do."

Marketa Vondrousova withdraws in tears

Marketa Vondrousova tearfully withdrew from her match against Aryna Sabalenka just hours before it was scheduled to begin.

The former Wimbledon champion appeared to pick up an injury on the practice courts ahead of the quarter-final showdown.

Tim Henman had been watching her and told Sky Sports viewers what he saw.

"She was out on the practice court and just started to hit some balls on the baseline and suddenly hit one forehand and doubled over in pain, more to the side of the court," he said.

"It looked like she was very distressed and obviously distraught, and then we’ve just heard that she’s obviously had to pull out, which is hugely disappointing for her, she was playing some great tennis."

Toni Nadal blasts 'deplorable behaviour'

Rafael Nadal's uncle Toni has urged bosses to clamp down on players who smash their rackets and throw tantrums on the court.

He believes 'sporting punishments' should be imposed, pointing out how this behaviour takes place more frequently in tennis than other sports.

Writing for El Pais, Nadal added: "This is the world we’ve entered, beyond tennis, one of the proliferation and applause of the most deplorable behaviours, of outbursts and poor manners.

"And there isn’t, for everything, the possibility of imposing a sporting punishment. A real shame."

Novak Djokovic controversy erupts

Novak Djokovic was involved in a controversial moment during his quarter-final victory over Taylor Fritz.

He looked frustrated as the audience cheered his double-fault in the third set, prompting a furious reaction.

Djokovic confronted the umpire, asking him why he was not taking measures to shut the crowd up.

He shouted: "What are you gonna do? What are you gonna do? Just 'thank you, please'."

The umpire responded: "I just said when both players are ready, stop shouting. I just said it. It's not going to help, Novak."
