Novak Djokovic has admitted he is aiming to “mess up” the plans of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at the US Open. The Serbian is due to take on Alcaraz in the men’s semi-finals tomorrow, with Sinner facing a last-four battle with Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Either Alcaraz or Sinner has one each of the last seven Grand Slam titles, with the duo playing out scintillating finals at the French Open and Wimbledon earlier this year. And Djokovic will have to roll back the years if he is to win a 25th Major in New York as he will probably need to defeat both men. The women’s draw is just as exciting, with Aryna Sabalenka facing Jessica Pegula in the semi-finals tonight ahead of a clash between Naomi Osaka and Amanda Anisimova. Carlos Alcaraz has new 'biggest weapon'

Patrick Mouratoglou has described Carlos Alcaraz's skinhead look as his 'biggest weapon' at the US Open.

He added: "I think it highlights his physicality and animality that defines him so well and makes him so scary for players.

"I think it can have an impact. I mean, not that he needs the impact. Of course, he doesn’t need this impact on players.

"Everybody’s scared of him, except maybe Sinner and Djokovic."

Naomi Osaka calls out US Open chiefs

Naomi Osaka has called out US Open bosses over the scheduling of her semi-final showdown against Amanda Anisimova.

She jokingly suggested that, as a mother, she should have been given a more convenient time slot by tournament chiefs.

"Yeah, so they put the mom on last, that's crazy," said Osaka."So, yeah, you know, I'll probably tell you how much I appreciate it at the end of the tournament, which is hopefully on Saturday [the day of the women's singles final] for me.

"But regardless, I'm just really grateful to be playing well in this city."

Felix Auger-Aliassime postpones wedding plans

Felix Auger-Aliassime has revealed that he will be placing his wedding preparations on hold after reaching the US Open semi-finals.

He is due to marry his fiancee Nina Ghaibi but his impressive run at Flushing Meadows is set to impact their schedule.

"The good thing is I was in the semi-finals before walking down the aisle," said the Canadian.

"I've never done so, you know, when it's a first, it's a special feeling for sure. I think people that were married can for sure relate.

"But yeah, the fitting, obviously we're probably going to have to postpone it. It's a quick turnaround and in terms of the planning, I mean, I have to give her credit, she's done a lot.

"You know, I'm not gonna sit here and say that I was involved just as much as she was. She's been amazing for me because, you know, getting engaged."

Naomi Osaka shares redemption story

Naomi Osaka has opened up on her new-found love for tennis after reaching the semi-finals of the US Open.

She said: "I learned I love tennis way more than I thought I did and I learned that I actually really love challenges.

"It's like a video game. You pick it up and even if you lose a level, you kind of just restart and keep going until you eventually win.

"I think it's a little tough at some times, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

"I think for me, I appreciate the journey a lot more now. I think when I was younger, I kind of just kept thinking of the next one, the next one, the next one.

"And obviously, I would love to appreciate everything right now, but I have a match to play tomorrow."

US Open broadcaster fights back tears

Retiring tennis broadcaster Cliff Drysdale fought back tears following a moving tribute at the US Open.

At the age of 84 and after 46 years with ESPN - its longest-serving broadcaster - he is putting down the mic at the current US Open.

To mark his incredible service to the sport, ESPN produced a moving eight-minute montage, which featured tributes from numerous figures, including tennis legends and broadcasters John McEnroe and Chris Evert.

And following the segment, a visibly moved Drysdale struggled to keep his emotions in check as he said: “I thought the guys would put something nice together. I never thought it would be something that elaborate.

“Somebody went to a lot of trouble to put that together. I really appreciate it. It’s been a long road but it’s been a smooth road.

“I have always had the full respect of everybody. I have felt the love of everybody around this table and all those that are not around this table as well."

Evans forced to retire at Challenger

Dan Evans was forced to retire during his Shanghai Challenger clash with Filip Peliwo after taking a medical time out.

The Briton was in the third set of the last-16 encounter when he decided to call time on the match.

Evans dropped the opening set 6-4 against his Polish opponent but rallied to win the second set 6-3.

However, the veteran reportedly complained of dizziness and mentioned that he had a headache during his medical time out in the third set, with the players neck and neck at 2-2. His opponent was said to be unhappy with the delay, with Evans ultimately forced to bring the match to an end.

Evans’ withdrawal means Peliwo has progressed to the quarter-finals, where he will take on Italian Giulio Zeppieri.

“I've never done so, you know, when it's a first, it's a special feeling for sure. I think people that were married can for sure relate. But yeah, the fitting, obviously we're probably going to have to postpone it. It's a quick turnaround and in terms of the planning, I mean, I have to give her credit, she's done a lot.

Billionaire father in New York to watch daughter

Terry Pegula, father of Jessica Pegula, has anchored his £74million superyacht in Manhasset Bay, Long Island, as he prepares to watch his daughter compete in the US Open semi-finals later on today.

The tennis star will go head-to-head with Aryna Sabalenka in a repeat of last year's final.

But regardless of the result, the Bills owner is expected to return to Buffalo for the team's opening game of the NFL season on Sunday. So Pegula Snr would miss the final even if his daughter is playing in it.

Sinner breaks silence after fan tried to steal

Jannik Sinner has given his reaction after a brazen fan tried to steal from his bag at the US Open. The world No. 1 was making his way off court after thrashing Alexander Bublik 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 in the last 16 when an individual was spotted trying to grab something from his bag.

Asked about the bizarre incident, Sinner admitted it was a first for him. He said: “No, I haven’t experienced [that before].”

Despite the incident, Sinner went on to praise tourmanent security. He added: “I checked straight away if he took something. I don’t have only rackets there. I have my phone and my wallet. But I feel like security is doing a great job."

Swiatek has awkward exchange with journalist

Iga Swiatek was involved in an awkward exchange with a journalist at the US Open after losing to Amanda Anisimova.

She looked puzzled as her exchange with the reporter began after she was asked how tired she was feeling at the moment. “Well, I don’t know, it’s not like my matches were exhausting here,” she stated.

And after being quizzed about taking a “mental break”, she exclaimed: “Why would you say that?”

The journalist told the 24-year-old she had played a lot of matches in a row as he attempted to clarify his question. And Swiatek responded: “Talk to the people responsible for the schedule.”

Swiatek then asked the man: “Do you need a mental break? You look like you need a mental break.” And the reporter replied by explaining: “I do, yeah.”

The 2022 US Open champion then quipped: “Well what are you doing here?” And the man replied: “I’ve got to get to the end of the tournament.”

US Open star Mirra Andreeva was approached by a fan as she sat in her chair during a women's doubles match earlier this week.

The 18-year-old teamed up with Diana Shnaider at Flushing Meadows, with the duo eventually exiting the tournament at the quarter-final stage.

Earlier this week, a man walked up behind Andreeva and muttered something to the teenager. She turned around to look at the fan before laughing about the incident during an exchange with Shnaider.

Murray called out by Alcaraz

Andy Murray was called out by Carlos Alcaraz after the Briton trolled the Spaniard over his ability on the golf course.

After Alcaraz revealed he had booked a round of golf with Sergio Garcia ahead of his US Open semi-final, Murray told him on social media: “I gave him about 12 shots and smoked him so I’d imagine Sergio would need to give him 25.”

But Alcaraz hit back with a cutting response as he exclaimed: “You only beat me because your partner was good! You brave enough to play me at singles?”

Murray and Alcaraz shared a few rounds of golf during the grass court season in London, with the 38-year-old coming out on top.
