World number one Aryna Sabalenka defeated Amanda Anisimova 6-3 7-6 in the US Open final to secure her fourth Grand Slam triumph and maiden title of 2025. Following her collapse to the court in celebration, a somewhat composed Sabalenka headed to her equipment bag and quickly put on a watch before resuming her festivities.

She then proceeded to her player box where family members and coaching staff awaited for an emotional embrace. Meanwhile, a crestfallen Anisimova crossed the court to congratulate the prostrate Sabalenka. The American has now suffered back-to-back Grand Slam final defeats, this latest setback arriving less than two months following her 6-0, 6-0 demolition by Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon.

Sabalenka penned an agreement with Swiss watchmakers Audemars Piguet in 2024. She regularly sports the luxury timepiece during public appearances whilst not competing.

In a statement, the company said: "We are excited to welcome indomitable tennis champion Aryna Sabalenka to the Audemars Piguet family as our newest friend of the brand.

"In this new role, Aryna will inspire us to explore new horizons in watchmaking while connecting with a new generation of watch enthusiasts and sports fans worldwide, reflecting the spirit of contemporary culture."

Sabalenka revealed the partnership via her social media channels, writing: "So excited and honoured to join the Audemars Piguet family. Thank you for showing me around your beautiful grounds in Switzerland."

Sabalenka was in peril of failing to secure a Grand Slam title this year. She suffered defeat in the Australian Open final to Madison Keys and at the French Open to Coco Gauff.

The Belarusian was shocked by Anisimova in the Wimbledon semi-finals, denying a potential blockbuster clash against Swiatek. At the US Open, Sabalenka confessed she embraced the crowd on her path to triumph.

"I feel like throughout the years, we've built our relationship, and you guys give me so much support," she declared.

"My first year here, when I saw that I had to play back-to-back against Americans, I was just like: 'No way. Please. I don't wanna play'.

"Then, coming back the next year, and I have to play back-to-back against Americans in the semis and finals, I felt a bit more support. This year I felt even more support.

"So I'm super excited to come back next year. I hope you're all gonna cheer for me. Thank you guys for bringing the best atmosphere."
