Across 91 2/3 innings this season, he has piled up 133 strikeouts while surrendering just 68 hits, powered by a fastball that consistently sits in the upper 90s.
His call-up comes as Boston makes a push for its first postseason appearance since 2021, while also battling for the AL East crown and the league’s top seed. The Red Sox (75-60) currently hold the top wild card position, sitting a half-game ahead of the Yankees and just 3 1/2 games behind the Blue Jays for both the division lead and the American League’s best record.
