Carlos Alcaraz has conquered New York once again, toppling Jannik Sinner to claim the US Open men’s singles crown and stamp his authority on tennis’s new era. Along with the trophy, the Spaniard takes home one of the sport’s richest paydays, with the US Open champion’s prize money running into millions.

The victory gives Alcaraz his sixth Grand Slam overall and second of 2025, adding to his French Open triumph earlier this year. Fittingly, his first major title also came in New York back in 2022, when he was still a teenager.

For Sinner, the loss ended his bid for a third Slam of the season, after victories at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, and what would have been the fifth major title of his career.

Dubbed 'Sin-Caraz,' this third consecutive Grand Slam showdown between them will be remembered as one of the most electrifying matches of the new era, coming after the retirements of Federer, Nadal, and Murray, and as Djokovic enters the twilight of his career.

How much does Carlos Alcaraz get as the US Open winner?

According to Wales Online, Alcaraz will bank a cool $5 million (£3.7 million). This year, Flushing Meadows' total prize fund for all competitions was $90 million, a record amount and a 20 per cent increase over the $75 million given out in 2024.

Aryna Sabalenka defeated Amanda Anisimova to win the women's title on Saturday night, earning her the same amount as Alcaraz for defeating Sinner.

How much will Jannik Sinner get?

Sinner will take home $2.5 million (£1.85 million).
