Toraya Reid, Minnesota Timberwolves star Naz Reid's sister, has been shot and killed by her boyfriend in New Jersey on Saturday morning, as per authorities. According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Toraya, 28, was found dead around 11 AM Saturday (September 6) with several gunshot wounds close to an exit of an apartment building in Jackson Township.

The authorities immediately arrested Shaquille Green, who Toraya was seemingly dating, reported New York Post. They duo were living together, but it’s not clear at the moment whether they shared an apartment. Green, who was taken into custody, was charged with Toraya’s murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. The 29-year-old is being held in Ocean County jail while he awaits a detention hearing.

Timberwolves' rising star Naz, who has a massive fan following on and off the court, has done a staggering $125 million extension deal in June. Naz once described his older sister 'super protective' and like a second parent while they were growing up.

“She treats us like she’s our parent,” New York Post quoted Naz as saying to Mpls. St Paul Magazine in 2023.

Jakahya, the youngest sister, requested for privacy and respect on behalf of the Reid family.

“We always send our condolences and say we could never imagine ourselves in that situation….. and yet here I am. Facing the unimaginable. Without you by my side,” Jakahya wrote on Facebook.

“I’ll never get over this I’ll never forgive god for taking you away from me, idk what kind of sick plan that man above has but I know losing you couldn’t have been apart of it. I can’t even phantom putting your name and death in the same sentence.”
